The Soundpony is quintessential Tulsa. It’s spunky, laid back, welcoming and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s the perfect spot for drinks after a show at Cain’s. The music is great and the crowd is usually even better. They have a great back patio area to enjoy when the weather is nice. If you want a laid back night with friends and an opportunity to meet some great people, Soundpony is your spot.

This is a cool spot. Full service bar. Wasn’t opened when I lived here before. Gets super crowded which is a good indication it’s a cool spot, right? They have a lot of bike parts hanging on the walls. Not crap bikes either. Nice bikes. I recommend anyone that likes dive bars to stop in. The outside patio is super chill.

This is a fun bike bar right near Cain’s. When I say bike, I don’t mean motorcycle, I mean bicycle! I don’t know too much about the history, but I’m pretty sure Soundpony is a huge sponsor of Tulsa Tough, so because of that a lot of bike people congregate here. I can’t claim to know too much about the bicycle connection, but it seems cool! It is a pretty typical downtown bar, but they have a really nice back patio for nice weather nights. I haven’t ever come here on a Cain’s show night, but I have seen passing by that it is usually pretty packed. Definitely worth a stop next time you’re bar hopping :)

Hands down one of the best bars in all of Tulsa. I know it’s in my top! This is one of those places I felt welcome in immediately the first time I walked in, as well as every time there after. They’ve always got great music and a great crowd. They’ve got a fantastic beer selection(probably my favorite part) as well as liquors. You can head here for a super cheap drink or high quality, perhaps pricey beverage as well. Okay I lied, my absolute favorite part is… FREEGAMES! I sit and play Pacman with my friend for probably an embarrassing length of time. But it sucks you in! I do hold the high score too *nerd alert* The Soundpony also has one of my favorite patios in town. Plenty of seating and one of the best views around, enjoy it while you can because there are some ridiculously priced condos that are going to be built next door and obstruct it all. BOOOO. Come on down for a drink, music when there is some and maybe even for trivia night! Cheers, I’ll see you there!

Definitely a nice spot if you want to catch local acts(music). Always a nice crowd & trouble is never in the area. They have some vintage arcade games, which is pretty dope. They always have a back area where you can socialize & smoke(if you do that).

This is hands down my favorite bar in Tulsa, and as such, I don’t want you to go there(that way it won’t be at capacity and I won’t have to wait in line to get in). Soundpony has a great location right next to Cain’s ballroom, which is probably one of if not the best music venue in the state. There is also frequently music at Pony, but rarely if ever have I had to pay a cover. As some other reviewers stated, the best part about Soundpony is the people. From the bartenders, to the owner to the regulars, there is always someone cool to talk to. Drinks are extremely reasonably priced(when I’m feeling’ fancy I like to get the $ 10 bottle of champagne) and on big festival weekends, especially Tulsa Tough, the bar is the hotbed of fun and craziness. On Tuesdays they have trivia that is the best in the city involving music identification, a physical challenge, and actual trivia questions(rather than dumb identify this celeb pic pop culture). If you like chill people, cyclists, cheap drinks(and hot dogs) and fun, Soundpony is a must for any visit to Tulsa/the Brady Arts District.

Sound Pony is a great dive bar that hits right in my wheelhouse. Sound Pony was just up the street from where we were before, so we walked the couple of blocks to check it out. We had Sound Pony on our list because a snarky review posted elsewhere said something along the lines of it being a bar full of characters from Portlandia. While I don’t think that was completely accurate, Sound Pony appeared to be a place full of unique and hip people. When we showed up, a 2-person band was setting up in the space just inside the door, but despite that we were just about to get some live music, the door-check was only an ID verification, no cover. Then, once we get inside the décor is dark, full of people, and reminded me a lot of The Replay Lounge in Lawrence. We noted that the special on tap was«Pedal Beer» for $ 2, which I presume is just a name for general macro-lagers. We ordered a round of those and headed out to the back porch(the band was starting, and we were going to talk rather than soak in the soundscape. Out back is a small space bounded by a wooden fence, but with a couple of seating areas and a whole collection of smokers. I personally don’t have any issue with smokers — I was going to bars where I live before the smoking ban, and cigarette smoke doesn’t really bother me and I don’t have a great issue with my clothes smelling like smoke(hell, I often come home smelling like«dank bar» after a night out in certain places in Lawrence, and that’s with all of the smoking still going on outside). But, it was a little crowded and we couldn’t get a place to sit, so we stood around for a bit, drinking our beers and chatting, and weighing our options on what to do with the remainder of the evening. The only real downside was that we weren’t out for an evening of getting blasted by loud rock music, but we also weren’t smoking, so the two main areas of the bar were pushing us at each other, and in the end we just left. But, when I find myself back in Tulsa, Sound Pony is a place that I will definitely be visiting again. This is the third of a series of ~13 reviews about a weekend getaway in Tulsa.

Omg are these bartenders hawt! Two are Siamese twins and the other has a metal pelvis. Super hawt! The only thing that’s questionable are the pony dogs… but they are as hard as a boner, so I guess that’s a good thing. Ask for Dana F. She’s always there.

Soundpony is one of the best bars in Tulsa, and has been for the better part of a decade. Folks tend to throw around stereotypical categories to describe soundpony’s crowd. I think it’d be way simpler to state who doesn’t hang out here instead: douchebags. This bar is for all kinds of good people. People who love other people, and animals, and good drinks, and continued, lengthy friendships, and dancing, and good music from almost every genre in existence, and vinyl, and bicycling, and deceptively simple, delicious hot dogs. People who love women instead of hating them. People who create– and make shit happen. The bartenders and owners really care about downtown, and it shows always. It doesn’t get more real than Soundpony. If you’re visiting Tulsa, this can be you’re home away from home. 5 fucking stars.

World class beer selection. Serious biker swag. Cool kids butt in the right way. Makes Tulsa seem like the bastion of authentic groovy alt night life, which it is. Go Tulsa.

This place totally surprised me — I normally don’t hang out in places like this. I typically frequent places like abandoned slaughterhouses, dried up river beds, and sometimes even that old railway car in the woods near Turkey Mountain(the red one, not the green one — that is Nick’s). None of them compare to this place. From what I have been able to piece together of my first night here; I met 20 new friends, created a new drink with the bartender, bought a hat that was not actually for sale, and then ended up partying with said 20 people at this sweet house until 8am. I don’t remember the walk home from that house. I went there another time as well: Short story long, I went on this date and it ended up being an awesome date. I was so swimmingly suave and cavalier that we both ended up mesmerized(there was a mirror behind her the whole time) and we missed the AWOL Nation/Neon Trees show completely. With a heavy heart, we retreated back to our dwellings, but as we passed, we poked our heads into the SP and trivia was happening. The bartender saw how melancholy I looked, and as I turned to go he said, «whoa young chap, fancy a dance with the devil?!» …or something like that, and so tremulously I entered; and low and behold: I had another amazing night AGAIN. If you read this review and thought, «Sound Pony sounds like 100 Ewoks and myself riding through Valhalla on the backs of giant fireflies», then I think you will fit in just fine. If you didn’t think that then, well… you probably identify yourself as a ‘cat person’.

Best bar in Tulsa. The owners, Josh and Mike, are often behind the bar, know great music, and have good beer on tap; they also support the community and have brought world-class cycling and advocacy to Tulsa. Great outdoor patio with view of downtown.

Soundpony is one of my favorite bars and one of the best venues in Tulsa! There’s always something going on at The Pony, whether it’s Tuesday night pub trivia, fantastic local music, or just a great atmosphere for hanging out with friends. Also, it is THE place to be during the annual Tulsa Tough bike races!

Best. Bar. Ever. The bartenders are super friendly, drinks are very reasonably priced, great patio, great energy. Never a cover and never a cover band. If you’ve never been dont assume its just a hipster bar when you walk in. As long as you’re «good people» the bartenders and regulars are happy to see you.

Jeeze o’ petey is the bar fun. It’s such a great bar to meet some of Tulsa’s finest locals. I don’t know what it is, but it just feels like fun people congregate here at any given time. It’s become a staple visit before(and sometimes after) Cain’s Ballroom shows. Bartenders are laid back and friendly and serve some of the most reasonably priced drinks I’ve ever seen. The atmosphere is dim and cool with bicycle memorabilia around. An area at the front of the bar space is perfect for live DJ events, bands, and dance parties. A patio is in the back with a couple tables with seating. ANDGUESSWHAT?! A PAC-MAN machine awaits. And, I am your biggest challenger. Last I checked, I have the high score. I will gladly accept any challenger — just be prepared to cry.

This is the best bar in Tulsa for new music, live trivia, eclectic crowd, and relaxed environment. I love how it changes depending on the time of day or that you go or even the day of the week. Places like this make Tulsa a city worth living in. The next time you get a chance, take your bike out of the garage, pedal yourself down to the Soundpony, and spend some time visiting with some of the best people in town.

The Soundpony is one of Tulsa’s best ecclectic bars. There is usually a good DJ or live band bringing energy to a unique group of friendly people. The drinks are cheap and they have some great top-shelf options for bar that may first seem to be like a bit of a dive. Whether you’re a local that wants to grab a few drinks or from out of town looking to experience a taste of our fair city, the Soundpony is always a good choice.
