Though I enjoyed going here for lunch on double stamp days, it did not last. It is in the process of being revamped from the failed Northlake Idol into a Roxx Tavern with American fare.

A friend picked this destination for our cookie swap/birthday celebration. She called ahead to alert them that we had a group of about 12 coming and picked a time«after lunch/before dinner» just to be on the safe side. I’m not sure what the hell was going on, but we essentially had no service. It took over 30 minutes for anyone to come take our order… even drinks. It took another 30 minutes to get said drinks, which weren’t even from the bar. At this point, the whole thing was ridiculous so we just laughed about it… we were just ignored and if anyone did come by, our requests were forgotten. We were given a few excuses and finally one of our party spoke to someone claiming to be the manager… do managers bus tables? Maybe. She was polite with the alleged manager, but firm on the fact that we WOULD receive some form of discount. My favorite part of the experience was when we asked for silverware, we were told it was being«put together». I assumed they were forging our forks in the fires of Mordor at the speed it came out. As for the food, you know… it wasn’t bad. I had fish and chicken tacos, and they were fine. Black beans were pretty tasty… but not life altering or anything. I will say, they did give us huge discounts and I got out of there for under $ 7. The wait wasn’t a huge deal because we were having a cookie and yankee swap, but I really can’t figure out why it took an hour to get a soda to the table. My only explanation is that this place is really just a front from some kind of shady illegal business and all the servers were busy«In the back room».

I don’t really understand the twist part… I think it is fair to say that«I’ve experienced better», so the two star rating is about right. I can even say that I have had better at Mexican fast food places like Willy’s Mexicana Grill and even Chipotle. The chips were light and crisp, but the salsa was mild and simple enough to be a grocery store brand right off the shelf. When the food arrived, my tacos seemed as if someone had taken the contents of one taco and split it into three tortillas. It was a sad looking plate. The accompanying black beans lacked depth and flavor, again almost as if they were from a can off the shelf. The rice wasn’t half bad. I will say that the service was excellent, and even though the restaurant was busy, they checked on us often enough. Had the food had any merit this would have been a much higher rating based on the service provided. There was a live band playing, but had I not seen them upon entering, and only heard them, I would have assumed it was drunken karaōke singers taking the stage. They were loud, but not very good. The restaurant had a large tequila menu, which I really would have enjoyed sampling, but didn’t have a chance to try out on this occasion. I am sure that if I had tried a few tequilas first, I may have found the food better, and maybe even the band… OH! THATS the twist!

It was my first time at this chain, we went and it was amateur singer night on last Fridey night… the singers were good and you got to watch television at your table… it was a bit different but I enjoyed it… The staff were friendly and the food was good. i would recommend this restaurant for a couple… nice night out and great atmosphere!

The food is just mediocre, but the service is absolutely horrible. This was our second visit, the first being right after they opened. Both times we only saw the waiter once when they took our order. Even that one time it was like they were doing us a favor being there. Their attitude was horrible and the eye rolls and sighs were extremely annoying. We will never visit this place again and warn others to stay away!!!

One of the reasons I love Unilocal is that, as a person who enjoys planning things, I enjoy suggesting outings to restaurants that get good reviews. If I had done that before hand, I would have gone to O’Charley’s or Checkers or something… My BF and I were driving around in the area looking for a burger and a beer and came upon this restaurant to which neither of us had visited. Late in the afternoon, the place was dead, the hostess was meh, so we sat at the bar. The bartender was nice and we all started talking about working in the restaurant industry when the conversation turns to how awesome the burgers are The Earl. Which, they are. But we weren’t at The Earl, we were at Twisted Taco. Ironically, I did not get any tacos, which seemed waaay overpriced at something like $ 2 per taco. Seriously? We both got bandito burgers, medium, but for some reason they only cook at medium-well or well. That seems arbitrary to say the least and a tad troubling. However, the charming BF got the bartender to at least ask to cook the burgers to medium, because that’s what we wanted and that’s when they taste best(imo). So we get the burgers, basically a taco-flavored burger that’s still medium-well(come on now!!!) and it was just nasty. It leaked that agent orange-colored taco grease and I just couldn’t finish it. Basically, they’re getting an extra star for employing such a nice bartender. Won’t be coming here again.

I had my birthday get together back in December and had made reservations a week prior. On the day of, I called to make sure and the employee had no idea what I was talking about. I arrived a few hours later and had to wait for my tables to be put together. It was my first time so I was just trying to keep my mood lightened. The food was decent, not bad, but I’d rather go to an authentic taco place. For example Pollo Norteno off Buford Hwy. Service-wise, I’d have to agree with my fellow Unilocalers. I came back a second time and it wasn’t busy, but let’s just say our waiter didn’t give a crap about whether service was good or not. 2 stars for the mediocre food being edible. 3 stars if service was better.

Just to add on to the many negative updates. Blindly went there for the first time ever just 2 nights ago, not reading any reviews beforehand. Bad service, slow service, waitress brought food never checked up on us, drinks went dry… had to ask for something twice… you get the idea. No one there seems motivated there to try. I give them a 2, because at least the food was good and the chips n salsa were tasty. Also we sat at a booth which had a private TV which kept us occupied. But I have no reason to return there. There are 4 dozen other places in Atlanta that serve tacos, burgers and let you watch sports. I don’t see this place surviving here.

Avoid this location(in fact, avoid the whole damn chain)! I’ve been to 3 of these and can say I’ve had bad experiences at everyone. This will be my last visit if I can help it. The food is fine but the service is horrible!!! All the waiters have ADD! Can you come visit my table more than one time in a 30 minute span? We had a table with 14 people at it and the waiter let everyone’s drinks go dry including the waters. Then, the food was staggered in delivery so some people ate while others watched in sheer hunger. To top it off, it took an additional 20 minutes to get the check. If the auto-gratuity was not added I was feeling 5%, I usually tip b/t 20−25% mind you. Just stay away, there is nothing here that you can’t get anywhere else in Atlanta. In fact, go to Tin Lizzy’s instead… great service, great prices, great food.

Ok. not going to waste much time typing. Only go if there is absolutely nothing else open. Read all the reveiws that weren’t written by their friends or staff and you’ll get the picture.

I’ve eaten here at least a half-dozen times in as many months, and I’ve never experienced anything as bad as many of the reviewers are reporting. I’ve usually eaten here for dinner on a weeknight, and with one exception I have always received good service. A pleasant hostess always greats us with a smile when we arrive and thanks us when we leave. The wait staff has been friendly and more than competent. The food arrives quickly and as ordered. We had one experience this summer when the waiter was nowhere near competent. After taking our orders, he disappeared for at least a half hour. Our cheese dip appetizer never arrived, we had to flag down other waiters for drink refills, and it took seemingly forever for our food to arrive. Our waiter finally reappeared when it was time for the check(and the tip) and said that the manager had called a mandatory staff meeting in the kitchen. A half-hour staff meeting with waiters who have customers during prime dinner time? I doubt it. I’ve always found the food here to be average for a chain restaurant, but I really can’t tell much difference between tacos. I usually order one shrimp, one chicken, and one steak taco, and they all taste about the same because so much sauce is slopped on them. The Buckhead location does a little better job with the food, but the concept still seems to be to douse everything in what appears to be a mayo-based sauce. The last time I was at the Northlake Twised Taco was about a month ago. It was a Sunday evening and they must have had a lot of people watching a game earlier in the afternoon because a lot of tables and the floor were dirty, even though there were only a couple of tables occupied. It’s like a party had left and nobody bothered to clean up. Overall, I’m okay with this place — it’s close to home, has decent food and usually fast service, so it’s good for a quick dinner. My usual dining companion decided, though, that if we’re going out for Tacos she would prefer that we take the extra time to drive to Taqueria del Sol in downtown Decatur, or to Tin Lizzy’s on Memorial. If we don’t have time for that, we just stick to the Oak Grove area — The Grove, Fillini’s, or Napolean’s.

I went here when this location first opened, and then again today. I was reminded of why I haven’t gone back to this location in months. This place BLOOOOOWS! The service is sub-par, and the pricing on the menu is flat out crazy. This restaurant claims to be a taco joint. They charge extra for cheese on tacos? Wait, what? $ 0.99 extra for cheese on a taco? Are you F’g kidding me? What’s a taco supposed to have on it? Lets take a look at the definition of taco. taco [tah-KOH] A Mexican-style«sandwich» consisting of a folded corn tortilla filled with various ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, chorizo sausage, tomatoes, lettuce, CHEESE, onion, guacamole, refried bean and salsa. Most tacos in the United States are made with crisp(fried) tortilla shells, but there are also«soft»(pliable) versions. Yep Cheese, right there in the middle. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t going crazy and had been enjoying cheese on tacos as a luxury my whole life. Don’t waste your time with this Twisted Taco location. We also had sliders at our table. Their sliders consisted of one hamburger patty cooked and cut into four smaller pieces. What a joke. On the plus side, my ice water was served chilled.

When i heard twisted taco had opened up in tucker my roommate and i were thrilled to go and its only 5 minutes away. It was 11pm but luckily they were still open. The décor is an attempt at old western meets modern sports bar. Giant mounted bull & pig heads on the walls and right next to them 56 inch plasma screens. Getting in we noticed it was trivia night and several people were already contributing. The questions were all pop culture but we didn’t bother with it. We wanted to sit at the bar but it was completely full. Our server Joey came up and asked what we’d like to drink. Two Fat Tire beers and we’d check out the menu. The big thing on their list is shots of Tequila. The prices range from $ 10 — $ 75. Yes, that’s correct; a $ 75 shot of tequila. I had better be drunk for a week after that! We had asked to see what kind of bottle this is in but they said its locked up in the back and the whole bottle is around $ 500. Craziness. I think its a bit absurd that Cabo Wabo shots go for $ 12 as its not exactly high grade tequila. Our drinks arrived and we asked for the hottest wings they had. They asked Ranch or Blue Cheese, I asked for Ranch. The wings arrived and not surprisingly weren’t that hot, so we asked for whatever«HOTHOT» sauce they could conjure up. The Ranch tasted a lot like Blue Cheese, which of course it was. Would you like more Blue Cheese? No thanks but I will take Ranch again. Our server brought out a mildly hotter sauce which would suffice. For our second drink he asked if we wanted to try anything different. I stuck with my Fat Tire and friend ordered Magic Hat. The drinks came out and about midway through his drink and a quarter through mine we realized he mixed the two up. His excuse is that the server told him differently, but you can see the difference visually so that’s no excuse. We wanted to move to the bar to end the night and he asked if we wanted anything else, to which we said two more Fat Tires. he brought the check and no beers that we had Just ordered. Started a new tab at the bar since he had gone missing and ordered a Bud Light. While sitting there we saw the only people left were employees and a few customers but the employees were already talking about shitty customers and stories about rudeness during the day. Yes I realize there’s a time and place for it, but do it in the back or away from ear sight of the customers still there ordering. They asked if we’d like to come to their Cinco De Mayo event that Wednesday but i think the next time I «Get Twisted» it’ll be at another location or far from this one. Pass it up and hope they bulldoze it and bring back Chilis.

Awful food. Two of us went for dinner. Even with 2 Texas margaritas each the food sucked… way too salty. Apparently the«twisted» means cheese in English. Guess the thought is the cheese will neutralize the salt, it does not. Trying to support Tucker businesses but when they aren’t good it’s kind of hard. Next???

The sign on the building that Twisted Taco was taking over the old Chili’s on Northlake Pkwy, had me a little excited. Cool, a new place to eat. My neighbors went on the grand opening, and they were told they could be seated, but no one would take their order for 30 mins. Naturally they were confused and after telling me of their experience, I decided to put off going for a few weeks because they clearly needed work out a few things. So, after several weeks, we decided to go. We were seated right away, apparently everyone else knew something that I yet to find out. Our waiter stopped by right away took our drink order and disappeared for 20 minutes. I guess 2 sweet teas was too complex or he need a smoke break or his girlfriend was sexting him. I don’t know, but it wasn’t like this place was busy. Anyway. After he finally came back, we ordered. Not surprisingly the food took forever to come out and after tasting it, they should have kept it. The black beans were not edible. I wouldn’t have given them to a dog. He probably would have bitten me for doing so as well. The chicken fajitas were dry and salty, but greasy at the same time. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out how they did that, its like they nuked the chicken and then slopped on oily onions and peppers. It was gross. In the end, the overall experience was terrible and I don’t plan to go back.

I first *heard* that this place had a Grand Opening, and then had to immediately close for more«training» as the ‘all looks, no experience’ staff got overwhelmed on opening day and it was reportedly a disaster. I did not actually venture in until their«second» opening, which was Super Bowl Sunday. I was mostly drinking, but I did order an appetizer and had no complaints, except for the obviously inexperienced bar staff(no beverage nap, no stirrer, no lime garnish for my gin and tonic). I’ve since been back for lunch several times(I work very nearby) and it has been okay, but not amazing. The service has definitely improved, and many faces that I saw in early February are no longer there. The management genuinely seems to be trying to «get it right» but it has never really been crowded when I’ve gone — although the last time I went for lunch, it was pretty packed. The menu items are pretty typical Tex-Mex. They are adequate(I’ve never had anything inedible) and the portions are quite large. If you go late night, it is usually just the staff and a few folks and it is very friendly — you can definitely get acquainted with the owners/managers and, as I said, my sense is that they really want to have a place that meets the customers’ needs. The location is a bit schizophrenic to me: it’s Tucker, but it’s right off 285& LaVista. So you draw from the«Tucker» folks but get random Northlake /Rehoboth folks, and random people that pulled off 285 to dodge traffic. I am encouraged that given some more time, the experience will improve. It has definitely improved since early February and I suspect that I will continue to make it a regular lunch spot; make no mistake, it is a regular stop only because I work nearby, but given that, I do eat there repeatedly and the experience is adequate, if just barely. I would suggest, if your first experience was unacceptable, that you give it another chance and see if it has improved.

I saw the signs for this place before it opened and decided to check it out online. Menu looked great with lots of variety. I went a few weeks ago and was sorely disappointed. The service was jusy ok. It was quite slow considering how empty it was. Our server was nice enough but just not very attentive. The food was so-so. I had two tacos that were a nice size but not big on flavor. I’d rather stick with my favorite tacos places instead of wasting my time with Twisted Taco.

It should have been a clue that the place was not crowded on Saturday night at 7:30. We were told the wait was 25 – 30 minutes even though we saw two empty tables. Thinking they must be about to seat someone there we waited… for 30 minutes… just to be sat at the same empty table. The service was slow, had to ask a passing bus boy to clear empty glasses from our table. Then when the food finally arrived it was cold. When asked how our food was we stated«cold.» We were met with a multitude of excuses from the waiter which ended with…“I’m working very hard.“ I doubt we’ll return until they get the kinks worked out. One of his excuses was the kitchen staff was new.

I really wanted to enjoy my experience here since it’s close to where I live. However, it was not as good as the other location near Perimeter I have eaten at. I ordered fajita nachos, but there was hardly any queso and what queso there was, was at the bottom. There was hardly any meat. There was an overabundance of onions. It was very meh. The margarita I had was an 1800 because the waitress said the traditional were not very good and just tasted like sour mix. Well, I had the opposite problem as my margarita tasted of just tequila. Ugh. I hope these problems are just because it’s newly opened and they have kinks to work out. I’ll give them another try, but it will be a little while. ===== Less than 12 hours later, I’m changing my review and giving 1 star instead of 2. Killer heartburn for me all night after eating here and my partner has been on the verge of puking since about 10 last night but a steady stream of Sprite seems to have kept the sickness at bay. UGH. This has NEVER happened at the Perimeter location.

Mediocre food and the worst margarita I’ve ever had the misfortune to experience — the sour mix tasted like gatorade with a medicinal edge. The owner was very receptive to feedback though — the only positive.
