I cant say enough good things about Pleasanton! Started with the delicious«bread sticks» that would have only been better if they were slightly warmed from that wood fired oven. We also ordered the meat lover pizza and at first were a little taken back by the price but when you see the size of the pizza it is all worth it. The crust was chewy but crispy, the meats delicious and just the right mix of sauce and cheese. We finished the meal with cookies, chocolate chocolate chip, regular chocolate chip and molasses and all were fantastic. Now to the reason I would give 2 – 3 more stars if possible. We arrived to find that you don’t eat here, it is a carry out place. Well that wasn’t a big deal but I then locked our keys in our car and the staff was so welcoming and helpful while we waited for the tow company to come open our car. The girl up front let us use her phone to call because of course our phones were locked in the car also. We ended up eating our pizza in the waiting area and they were more than gracious in letting us stay. This will be a place we frequent when we go back to Traverse City again.

I absolutely love LOVE this bakery! Everytime I am in the TC area, I always make it a point to stop by, pick up some croissants, and walk on over to Higher Grounds coffee to enjoy my pastries with some great coffee. I was just there the other day and discovered a NEW pastry favorite that I have yet to try anywhere else. the poached pear and pistachio cream pastry is so amazingly delcious that I would recommend to everyone! I also picked up their dense and fragrant cinnamon raisin bread to enjoy with my homemade apple butter. It honestly doesn’t get any better than their toasted raisin bread schmeared with apple butter. YUM!

The Pleasanton Bakery is my guilty pleasure! I love their chocolate and almond paste croissants. And the chocolate chip shortbread cookies are soooo good! And did I mention the brownies? Yeh, awesome. And their tarts are wonderful to take home for a gourmet dessert for guests. The open kitchen lets you see into the brick oven and you can watch the bakers rolling out dough in a warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff is nice and prices aren’t too bad for freshly made baked goods with quality ingredients. Love Pleasanton Bakery!

Absolutely love this place! We stopped in for a baked good and ended up getting a pizza to go. The pizza was amazing– lots of delicious fresh toppings and the dough was phenomenal. The baked goods were a cookie and a granola brick/bar– soooo good! This place is very reasonably priced and a must try if you are in the area!

A real wood fired, brick oven bakery in the middle of the most interesting real estate development in Michigan. They’re got a great selection of different hand made, artisan breads and other baked goods(and plenty of day-old bread at a reduced price.) Whenever I’m staying join and around in TC I always pay at least one visit.

Awesome brick oven pizza. The best in town! The pastries and desserts are delicious too, and they have sandwiches and bread by the loaf. Whenever I’m downtown I have to stop in for a chocolate almond croissant and a latte.

One more bad food tip from good old Traverse Magazine! My wife and I were in TC the other day and decided to try Pleasanton Brick Oven Bakery based on all the terrific press it has been getting. It wasn’t horrible, but it sure was a long way from being something I’d pay those prices for again. As a dedicated croissant-o-phile, the Chocolate Almond Croissant($ 4.75) was my choice, while my wife selected the Apple Danish. We also got a couple of breadsticks hot out of the oven to tide us over on the drive back to Suttons Bay. The breadsticks, though indeed hot, were burned, as well as being fairly bland and under seasoned. Some sea salt and seeds(e.g., sesame, fennel, etc.) would have helped tremendously. Rating: 2 out of 10. I tried one bite of my wife’s apple danish and that was enough. If you had opened a «Little Debbie’s» cellophane package with an expiration date 8 months in the future, you’d probably have been satisfied with this danish, because you wouldn’t have been expecting much. Pay somewhere around $ 4 after reading about the wonders of this place, though, and you’re likely to be very disappointed. A little soggy with an apple filling that definitely tasted fresh from a can. Rating: 2.5 out of 10. My croissant would have been OK if I’d snagged it at Potter’s Bakery for $ 1.85, because again, I wouldn’t have been expecting gourmet quality. Tack another 3 bucks or so onto that price, however, and I was expecting something special. This certainly wasn’t. Croissants are supposed to be light, flaky, and buttery, at least in my book. This one was, again, slightly soggy, not at all light and flaky. On the positive side, it *was* loaded with filling, so if you’re hungry it’ll definitely provide some sustenance. Rating: 4 out of 10. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but I won’t be in a great hurry to give them another shot. We have far better choices a lot closer for a lot less money. Try a croissant from 9 Bean Rows side by side one of Pleasanton’s and I think you’ll see what I mean. And finally, was that your April Fool’s Day Issue, Traverse Magazine?

I LOVETHISPLACE!!! Wish there was one down by where I live :( We had the twisty sticks(not sure if that is the real name) and they were SO good!!! Also got a loaf of bread, yum!!! Bread is my weakness :) Friendly staff who make sure you know there their stuff. Easy location to get too BUT there is not a lot of parking close.

If I am in Traverse City in the early part of the day this is a must stop. Have enjoyed absolutely everything I have tried and enjoy the rustic, «real,» flavor of each item. I am not a fan of ultra sugary-sweetness and find their baked goods rich and flavorful instead. The gentleman who seems to live behind the counter(he has helped us each time) provides excellent service, and patience, when identifying items.

Love love love love their baked goods. Best breads, creative baked goodies and if I knew how to spell foccacia I would say it is the best anywhere. Also, even thought the place sometimes gets a little busy, service is always pleasant and friendly. I recommend the parmesan olive loaf and Pleasanton cookies. Yummy to the max.

Fantastic baguettes, perfect crust & soft inside. The shortbread was also fantastic. We also got a loaf of rye which was a bit disappointing — the crust was not as hard as the baguette crust — it did toast up nice and had a good rye flavor. I also had an apple tart which was good, but, not as flaky/buttery as I would expect. All in all, fantastic bakery and will return next time we’re in Traverse City!

Ok… let me start out by saying I am in a love affair with carbs. The energy, the rush, the feeling of being ready to conquer the world. It borderline gets… never mind, back to why this place is fantastic. Among all the carbs I love the most is PIZZA, or «Za子» if you’re in the know. Being the connoisseur of all things flour, meat, and cheese, I can without a doubt say this was the best pizza I have ever had(and no, it was not the wine that had this influence on my opinion). It was hot, it was tasty, it was sexy(and yes this is the first time I felt this way about a pizza). But that is not the only kind of carb that crawled into my being. The blueberry tart, pecan scotch bread cookie, and the bacon cheddar scone were all equally as delectable. Next time I’ll show some restraint… or maybe not. In a buddhist view, I wouldn’t mind being a carb in another life-a carb cased nirvana.

Great bakery! My go-to for great dinner party bread unless I have time to make it myself. Best croissant in Michigan if not the whole Midwest.

A local brought me here. It is situated in a unique location. The surrounding buildings that are currently being rehabbed were once part of a mental institution. Breads are made with all organic ingredients in a brick oven. The Golden Wheat bread I bought was warm and delicious. And well worth $ 5.25. I also bought rhubarb muffins for breakfast. They were really moist, and not super sweet. I bought a shortbread square too. It was good, but not the crispiest texture that I have ever had. If you happen to be in this little pocket of the city, buy your baked good here as a change from Panera and the like.

This is a very cute little bakery. I wish we could have come back on a Saturday for the pizza, it sounded delicious! We ended up getting a smore thing(I can’t remember exactly what it was called) but it was very rich and really good. Things are a little pricey, but worth it as everything is freshly made and so unique! The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Yep, still a fan. Bought the cranberry pecan this time and of course the parm herb olive again. So freakin good! As always, friendly staff who make sure you know the proper care for your bread — like not to put it in a plastic bag until it has completely cooled or the crust will be compromised — and we can’t have that!

These are some dang good carbs. The first time I went to the bakery, the employee behind the counter shared that the cheese and tomato loaf rarely makes it home with him intact. I placed an order for the same and, well… it yielded similar results. One loaf, down. I’ve never eaten anything sweet from Pleasanton, because I start with savoury baked goods that are so delicious that I never stray. I don’t doubt their deliciousness, I just seem to be a sucker for the loaves of bread so expertly baked that they don’t require any spreads or special treatment to register as a delight to the tastebuds. The cheese-heavy loaves(parmesan olive, parmesan tomato) are divine toasted, and chock-a-block full of great ingredients. Thanks to the brick oven, the crust on the bread is amazing. The bakery’s commitment to high quality, organic, Michigan-based ingredients impresses, and I’ll happily pay a premium for Pleasanton’s product. For kids, alongside cocktails, for a snack… I also recommend the breadsticks. What? You’re rolling your eyes, thinking breadsticks aren’t anything special? That’s where you’re wrong. I was offered one for free on my first visit, and have been hooked ever since. Tender, but textured, these breadsticks are full of flavour, herbs and other seasonings. Y. U. M. Unilocal notes: I really do need to specially call out the staff: they are helpful, enthusiastic, and are clearly(and rightfully!) proud of the product they put out. Try to go on their bake days(listed on website) and you’ll snag some still-warm loaves.

What wonderful, friendly service! All their ingredients are fresh, they even grow blue corn. Fresh breads and cookies, olive oil. Yummy blueberry scones too. Stop reviewing and stuff your face!
