Went back tonight cuz my daughter likes the soup. 3 meals: gyro with salad; grecian(veggie and cheese) pita; bowl of soup; saganaki; 2 glasses of house wine, one beer and a root beer:$ 58! About 20% higher than it should be. Could explain why only 4 tables were occupied at 6:30. The food was from a coney/grill, not a downtown bistro, its a strip mall location, I’ll go back if they start doing coupons again.

One of my least favorite coney places I’ve ever been to. Staff was helpful in answering questions but food was disappointing. I’ve been trying to find a good coney place up in northern Michigan and this place was a let down.

Wish we would have checked Unilocal before dining here! Service was terribly, deathly slow. Detroit dog and Flint dog were no better than Sonic or a snack stand at a ball game. Mediterranean Pita was small, hummus was so dry it was in sheets, and the vegetables were clearly not fresh. Super expensive for what was received. My bf DID like the french fries, though.

Great food and the service is wonderful. It is a hidden gem within a shopping area. Parking is very good so on busy nights and days in Traverse City this is a wonderful alternative to the busy restaurants in the downtown area. I love the greek food but they also have some polish items on the menu.

I was not even able to sit down so I don’t have a comment on the food though it did smell good. I came there to feed my three children and was met by the extremely rude comments of a waitress. She didn’t even look at me and purposefully commented under her breath in earshot«ugh I guess we gonna have to move the chairs» she was referring to my two toddlers. I promptly stopped her and told her not to worry we will eat somewhere else. Then she commented, oh no. What is wrong with her. I am pretty confident that the high chairs there are more than corner decorations, and that the owner likes paying customers. Whom ever you are you should be ashamed of yourself. I had to explain to my inquiring daughter about your attitude. Worse none of the other staff seemed to be thrown by this but many customers were. A ripple in the pond.

I went here and sampled the pasticcio and chicken phyllo. The food and service were good but was a little pricey at $ 16/meal.

I ate here tonight with my daughter. She got some pancakes and I got a few Detroit coneys. The staff was friendly and the food was tastey. We will be back.

Overpriced coney food and even worse service. Came in on Saturday at dinner time and the place was almost empty — should have noticed the red flag. The waitress was very odd and was lacking social skills. She did a good job at making us feel awkward while providing poor service. For example, she walked up to our table and didn’t say anything at all. She just stood there with a pen and paper. Fortunately, my wife had the sense to combat the awkwardness by asking for a water. It was weird. No drink refills, no checking up on us, took forever to get in and out, and our bill came to $ 45 for 3 people who ate gyros and salad. Two of us drank water and one of us had an iced tea. Where I’m from originally(metro Detroit), the point of a coney is to get good service and good food quickly… And at a good value. This place missed all 3 elements. Definitely won’t return.

Visited Saturday, 2÷15÷14 and was very disappointed. Had bought 4 Up North Live coupons because our 1st visit months earlier was great. Only 2 tables when we walked in at 6:30pm but had to sit at a dirty table as many were dirty. Dining room was approx ½ full when we left. No house music so we could hear other diners and kitchen conversations, no video, asked waiter Brandon or Brent? if he could turn on digital slideshow on tables and he said it was broke, we asked to move to a new table as my daughter loves looking at the images, and that one was broke also, as well as dirty. We watched people coming in and no one greeted them so they would stand around wondering if they should seat themselves. Why not have a seat your self sign? Or better yet a hostess to warmly welcome guests as they arrive who could cross train as a busser/food runner as needed especially on a Saturday night and Valentines weekend? We decided to order a couple of things to share so a gyro and Shrimp Supreme it was. Brandon returned, menus in hand, to inform us that the Shrimp Supreme should be removed from the menu because they never have it. So we ordered Moussaka instead. A few minutes later our waiter returned again embarrassed to ask us make yet another choice because the Moussaka was still in the freezer and no one thawed any. At this point I informed him that this was unforgivable and has the manager heard of a prep list? We struggled to make a choice that we both wanted and ordered a Spinach Pita. Gyro dry, meat was not sliced to order but seemed to be in a holding well and dished from there. Spinach pita would not order ever again. Not gonna waste any more of my time explaining. Oh, almost forgot, we returned our iced teas because they were watered down. We overheard a table behind us order the Phyllo Wrapped Coconut Shrimp and I noticed Brandon turn his back to our table and quietly inform the couple that Opa was out of that item and could they please select another item. Gee, I wonder why Brandon works here? He was a great server with enthusiasm and very attentive but his services could be appreciated elsewhere that knows how to run a restaurant. He did tell us as we were leaving that he informed the GM who had just called to see how things were going, about the missing items. My thoughts, why is the GM not here on a Saturday night to see for himself? I don’t see Opa lasting very long. If you want a great gyro that comes with a fresh and tasty side salad, go to the U & I on Front Street. It’s delicious! Now we are stuck with 3 more coupons to use up. I should have known better. Not a good celebration dinner for my 9th grader on a great band performance.

This is on one visit and hoping the other reviews(10 at this point with an average rating of 4 stars) are more in line with this place is about. Located in a courtyard between strip malls or within a strip mall, you need to know where you’re going to find this place(those that don’t find it will not even realize how lucky they were). Interesting menu with Polish and Greek and«coney» food, our dishes were terrible and the service was just as bad. I started this as a draft on 5/12/13…can’t recall why I didn’t post it then, probably because I wanted to lay down some long dissertation on how horrible this place was.

I wanted to go here for my husband who loves Greek food.(I don’t so I was going coney style) He got the open faced gyro and greek salad. He said the meat was the only good thing as the sauce was flavorless and the salad wasn’t that good. I got the sloppy coney and liked it. I wasn’t in the mood for sides but wanted to try the grilled cheese. The server said it was small so I got it too(no sides) and it was tasty. The place was understaffed big time. One cook and one server for 8 tables. The poor guys were being run ragged but he was doing his best.

Great place for a coney island! Far from high dining, but they are very good at what they do. If you want a $ 30 steak you are not going to find it here. If you want an authentic coney lunch, it is right on time. The prices are fair, the owners and staff are very friendly. They are here to stay.

One of our regular places. Great Detroit style coney dogs, chili cheese fries, gyros and amazing Polish food. Pierogis are outstanding, just like the ones we buy at the Polish market downstate. Greek pastitsio and moussaka are fair. Specials can be fun. My favorite breakfast is chili cheese fries with a egg on top. Not on the menu, have to ask.

Great Flint Styl Coney Dogs! It will never replace the Orginal Angelo’s or Starlight on Flints East side, but for Traverse City this guy has it nailed. The Gyro was spot on and the service was very good. The waitress even offered to carry our 6 month old around the restaurant so we could eat. My folks are regulars here and I see why. I make a point to bring the family here when we come home to Michigan.

Opa at the Cherry Festival. I ordered a Greek salad yesterday and it was disgusting. The lettuce, olives and peppercinis were limp liked they had been sitting in the refrigerator a week. The pita was oily tasting. I can eat almost anything but I threw this out after a couple bites. Should have asked for my money back. Horrible.

I had a good Greek Salad with chicken, plus it included chick peas and beats. They allowed me to sub tzatiki sauce instead of pita bread. Good taste, large portion and a good value. As far as Coney Island style restaurants go, this is above average.

Very slow service and cold food. What more can I say? Heard great things about it but waitress was too busy counting her money and/or the cook didnt have sense enough to tell her the order was in the window. Bad communication on somebodys part.

Five stars??? «whoohoo! as good as it gets!»…in TRAVERSECITY is what i mean by five stars. I love GYROS! I’ve been dying to eat one since i’ve moved to T.C. about a year ago. I was extremely excited when i found out that Opa was opening. The first time i had it was take out. Called ahead of time and placed an order for the Gyro Deluxe(Lamb/Beef Gyro, fries, and greek salad combo) and the Calamari appetizer. Couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! Delicious! I have no idea what«authentic» greek food taste like but if its better than this, then let’s fly to GREECE! ;)

I went in here again just recently with a few friends, one of which has been to Greece, and wanted to tell us that the choices on Opa’s menu were limited and that a lot of it didn’t seem authentic. That was okay with me, and we ate, and I still love the food. I’ll tell you what. Authentic or not, I like the American-ized version of the food, for what it is. American-ized Greek. I was stuffed, it tasted good, and I left with the realized that I wouldn’t have had that meal if I’d been half way ’round the world, but at that particular moment, it just didn’t seem to matter. =)
