The best local restaurant in Traverse City. Food was great and drinks were awesome:) Restaurant has great decorations and the best water fall set up inside of the restaurant!! while you are eating and drinking you will like you are in the nature dining.

Pricey middle of the road food. Friendly staff, but poorly trained. They were gossiping loudly near our table. Not much a management presence. Too bad. It is a nice room.

I have tried this place 3 times and had only 1 decent meal. The service was crappy, the owner was rude and they served us, not so fresh seafood. Sorry, but for the $ 150+ bill, I expect the 3 principles of eating out to make it an experience… Clean, fresh and tasty. They got the clean part down…

This was my husband and my first time here. The ambience was wonderful! Our waitress was good. I ordered the shrimp and mushroom pasta which was absolutely delicious! Everything is ala-carte. I ordered a side of asparagus, which was mostly tough and I couldn’t eat. My husband ordered the ribeye. He was very disappointed. It was small, very thin and not much flavor. It came on a plate with 3 red skin potatoes which took up as much room as the steak. Seemed like not much meat for the money. We had a dessert which would resemble a Boston cream pie, which was very good. We each had a drink as well. The bill was $ 120.00!!! We don’t feel it was worth the money.

We decided to try this place because it was restaurant week. I had read other not so good reviews, however was still willing to give them a try. We got there about 25 minutes earlier than our reservation so we sat at the bar. Our mix drink and beer were good, bartender was friendly. We were then seated at our table at 6:30pm. Our waitress was friendly. She took our drink order and when my husband received his KBC Widow Maker, it did not taste right. He said it tasted sour. The waitress came back, and said they just tapped a new keg. She got him a new KBC Widow Maker. It had the same, not normal, sour taste. He decided to try something else. The Java Lager tasted the exact same. He decided water would then be his beverage choice. The place wasn’t very busy, but our food took forever to come to the table. Our Cajun bacon wrapped shrimp was over cooked, and only two of the four were bacon wrapped. We finally walked out at 8:55pm. It should not have taken 2.5 hours for four meals, especially when we picked off of the restaurant week menu. We will not return.

Great place– good ambience– older crowd though. Lava rock experience(you cook your own food on a 750 °F hot rock at your table!) was amazing

Very good dinner. I had the surf and turf, my husband had the prime rib. My steak was cooked perfectly as ordered, and it was delicious, but a little charred so next time I’ll try the rock to cook it. Drinks were good, and $ 2 off since were there during happy hour. Will definitely return next time I’m in the TC area.

Talking about a great meal and all around experience! Beautiful décor, great atmosphere! The food and service were amazing. Cooking your own meat on lava stones is a unique thing for the area. The chef was nice and pleasant the waiter was helpful and knowledgeable Must try the Italian cake

Had lunch here with the hubby, love this place! The décor is gorgeous, the service is on-point and even though the location would normally be a complete downer(the corner of a busy, boring intersection), they’ve transformed the view with rock gardens, waterfalls and greenery. The waterfall was still going even though it’s all covered in snow and it was beautiful. We shared an open-faced prime rib sandwich that was delicious… cooked medium rare, 1 inch thick on a piece of texas toast with mushroom, onion and swiss cheese. He had the french onion and I had the lobster bisque. Both served piping hot and amazing, perfectly seasoned. The lunch prices were very reasonable and they now have a happy hour from 11 am –6pm with varied apps at only $ 5 each and $ 2 off drinks! I’ll be going there Wednesday for trivia next week… too good to pass up.

We found this after moving from Calif to Houghton Lake. Nothing here at the lake was good and found this place by accident. Yes a Kmart nearby, yes not the wealthiest area of Traverse City. Here is our experience… We went in on an off night and sat at the bar. A bartender/tendress waited on us. We told her we lived nowhere near there and our disappointment with food in our area. We ordered some Hors d’oeuvres. They were great. Then we both ordered Prime Rib. It was wonderful and better the service was great. The owner came to talk with us, the dessert was fab. This was a Tuesday yet the experience was a Saturday night in Calif. The owner told us there was a sister place owned by his wife. It was great.

Excellent service. Sorry to have to give you a negative review. Over-priced, over– charred, miniscule portions. Next time its the boathouse.

Myself and five friends ate here around two in the afternoon on a Saturday. There was another party in a separate section and then two other tables with guests, and that was it in the whole restaurant. We all ordered different sandwiches, which were great once we got them but it took nearly 40 minutes for our food to get to us. Given that the restaurant was nearly empty and nothing we ordered would have taken long to prepare, the wait was just ridiculous. Our server was pretty good, if a little less than enthusiastic. Definitely recommend the home chips!!!

I was surprised they had saganaki as an appetizer/happily. It was very good! I had the filet and mashed potatoes. Very good. The desserts also looked amazing but I was too full. Sad face.

Requested a quiet table for my girlfriend and myself. First couple in a side room with a fireplace. Lobster and crab bisque was fantastic. Each got a steak, all around solid, fast, attentive. I’m not the most refined or discerning when it comes to steakhouses, so this was just comfortable and very good. Spent just over $ 100 with drinks and dessert. I’d go again for sure.

Let me start by getting the only negative out of the way: I’m not sure I understand all the comments about the great ambience. The décor was nice, but I was glad that the shutters in the room were closed. If they weren’t, we would have had an awesome view of the Kmart across the parking lot! That’s not what I would classify as great ambience. That’s not how I would generally start a 5 star review, but I thought it needed to be said. On to the good stuff! You. Instantly read and hear about the great dining scene in TC, and this place lives up to that. If it were in the downtown area, it would probably have a 2 hour wait every night, because it was that good. We went with a group of 15 people for a work function. Often with a large group, you expect average to mediocre service. That was definitely not the case here! There serves were polite, efficient and kept us moving at a good pace. I started with the crab and lobster bisque — it was outstanding! For my entrée I had the 6 oz filet. It was perfectly cooked and the garlic/wine sauce that the waitress recommended was delicious! Everyone at the table really enjoyed their meal. If you’re looking for great food and want to get away from the downtown crowds, I would definitely recommend this place!

Ate here for lunch the other day and was very satisfied with the results. We had a 16oz ribeye, and a grilled prime rib sandwich. The ribeye was nicely charred and cooked to temperature. The grilled prime rib was charred a bit too much and seemed more like a ribeye steak than prime rib. It was on a grilled bread and the sandwich was so big, I could only eat half. We both got fries as a side and they were those big, thick steak fries and were perfectly seasoned. The caesar salad side was very good. The romaine was really fresh. Service was great. Décor is a little dated, but the waterfalls are a nice touch. I’d definitely go back if I am ever in the area again.

Holy sweet baby Jesus. This is a gem and I hope you try it out. It’s off the main strip so I can see how it gets looked over. Wife ordered the Ribeye 18oz with mushrooms and asparagus. Perfect med rare and the bark… Oh my. Must be super hot ovens cause I haven’t had a steak that good in a while. I had the salmon(on special) with asparagus and noodles. Salmon was great and the noodles were okay. One thing that caught me of guard is they were DEAD for a Saturday at rush hour. Should have been packed like sheep but we walked in straight to a table with no wait. If they need a new marketing plan, hit me up.

Pleasantly surprised by the great atmosphere of this gem! It’s beautiful inside and when sitting in the main dining room, you have a fantastic view of a snow covered waterfall! The service was good but I wasn’t overly excited about my steak. It wasn’t as flavorful as I had hoped(ordered prime rib) and I would not recommend getting the crab topping added for $ 7. I’d definitely go back and try the steak again with maybe blue cheese or satires mushrooms in top. The mashed potatoes and roasted veggies were spot on but were served a little cold. Overall, the atmosphere gets a 5 but the food is more a 3.5 star for me. Note: 4 – 6HAPPYHOURDAILY!

The food is solid. The décor is very good. They really put a lot of money and effort into the falls. It is a nice view during dinner. It is a big place with lots of seating areas. The bread they bring to the table was pretty good. The food was just fine. I started with the French Onion Soup. It was a tasty start to the meal. For my meal I ordered the New York Strip. It was ok. It was prepared as ordered, but could have used a little more flavor. A little extra salt and pepper for seasoning would have likely helped a lot.
