Awesome food, my favorite j-spot in town. The food is truly authentic and you can taste the attention put into every dish.

Food was not bad but the old lady who served us gave us attitude and we didn’t like it. No friendliness whatsoever. It seemed like she was annoyed every time we asked her questions about the menu. Good: Soba Bad: Ramen

Always something different. Standards favorites are good. Great ponzu sauce! Small and friendly! Nice atmosphere… friendly staff! A favorite!

Ojiya is a tiny little restaurant right next to Inaba. It’s another Japanese restaurant that I enjoy immensely. The setting of Ojiya is unusual, but in a good way. It’s a bit trendy, with dark woods and dim lighting. The restaurant is TINY — I think there are only 7 – 10 tables when you walk in, and a few more tables in the backdoor secret area location that I’ve never been to. Tables on the right are separated by hanging banana leaves, while seating on the right is normal with seats of 2 to 4. The food here was good, but quite pricey. We had a salad, sashimi sampler platter, and an order of tuna rolls. The fish was alright, but I couldn’t really notice a huge difference in the quality between here vs Inaba, which is slightly cheaper. Although it was a unique experience, it’s hard to compete with given that Inaba is a few doors down. They did seem to offer some more unique items on the menu that might make it worth visiting if you aren’t looking just for sushi, so it’s probably worth a try.

After experiencing so many bad izakayas lately, I came back to my roots. this place is literally the closest to my place but I’ve only come here a handful of times. What I like about the place is that they allow you to choose your shotglass. Ive never had that decision and frankly, more restuarants should consider this strategy, made me want to drink more. PS some glasses are bigger than others muhaha! Me and bry ordered the Edamame(wish they warmed them up, i dont love cold edamame), karaage, gizzards, gyoza and furikake fries. Overall a nice place, Service is good.

Great food overall, nice Izakaya place, very authentic food taste just right, from fresh sashimi to their roasted rice ball is delicious. service is friendly. The only thing On the menu is house salad is just too plain. Try beef tongue, and their everyday special are great. Nice jazz music and nice cozy hangout place, not so much for kids, more for after work and friends night out.

Not sure why it has less than 4 stars. Yes, compared to Japan it’s not awesome but for CA it’s quite good. When I went there there were only Japanese people. All the Japanese people I have talked to also like it. Had the agenasu, cream korokke, Ojiya salad, nankotsu, aji no hiraki and hegi soba. I really like soba and have gone to some of the best in Tokyo and this is pretty solid stuff. Definitely better than at least one of the chain hegisoba places in Japan. I’m sure there’s much better though elsewhere. I was told by some Japanese acquaintances to get battera next time and some people said that the nabeyaki is also good. I’ll have to try it out.

I like this place. The food is delicious and they have really good tee. The place looks authentic to me. Cons: They serve the food with salad and soup which is always the same which is quite annoying if you go there often. Service is good but sometimes a little bit slower.

Although the interval between the dishes is kind of long, every dish I ordered was very satisfactory. This is my 3rd visit here and I was a happy customer every time. Sapporo draft is nice and reasonably priced, and the house Cabernet is quite good(CK Mondavi tonight). As for food, their house made UFOGYOZA is delicious, the chicken soft bone karaage is nice, Yakitori onigiri is excellent. This is an excellent choice if you stay at Double Tree Hilton Torrance because it is in a walking distance from the hotel.

As good as it gets in the Bay! Ojiya is in the same mini mall as I-naba and they are very different but authentic Japanese restaurants. This is for mainly drinking and small plates… If you’re drinking you wouldn’t want rice so you just have the main plates to share. I love their salted Saba(Mackeral) and salads, grilled Ika(Squid) no matter what you get it’s very cozy and delicious! Def. one of my fave places to have trad. Japanese eats in the South Bay!

Very nice atmosphere. Every ingredient was fresh especially the sushi and sashimi. Good variety of different Japanese izakaya foods. We will definitely come back here again.

Small, authentic Japanese food. Food is mediocre. Overall, I would give Ojiya 3.5 stars. PARKING: Lots of parking. Ojiya is located in a plaza with lots of restaurants and shops so there is a good amount of parking available. I’ve never had to roam around the lot looking for a spot. AMBIANCE: Meh. The restaurant is small and casual — tiny tables, not so much seating, and very plain. It’s not as dark as other restaurants which is a plus. Nothing really awes you when you walk into the restaurant. FOOD: Decent. There’s definitely lots of better Japanese restaurants in the South Bay. A few of the dishes I have tried here include: Fried Mackerel 4⁄5 — a delicate fried piece of fish. It tastes similar to a Filet O Fish from McDonalds but BETTER. It goes great with their tartar sauce. Soba 2⁄5 — Very chewy. I don’t think it is made in house. Mackerel Sushi 2⁄5 — Way too much rice. Not enough fish. The rice is also a bit too vinegary for my liking. Pork Belly Yakitori 3⁄5 — Nice, juicy, and fatty. Well seasoned Black Sesame Ice Cream 5⁄5 — a small and sweet bite of heaven. A great way to end your meal Overall, food is okay but the pricing is reasonable. What I like most about this place is they offer pitchers of beer! It is a good place to grab drinks and small bites(bar food). SERVICE: Consistent. Everyone here speaks both Japanese and English! They’re all really friendly and quick too.

Our experience was terrible from start to finish. We waited to be acknowledged for about 8 minutes after arriving and were asked about reservations, which we didn’t have and then felt grateful we were seated. Our waiter couldn’t answer specific questions we had about the food and went to the kitchen 3 times during our order to ask for details. One if these items was the seaweed salad ordered. Waiter confirmed it was seaweed with a bit of tofu. It was a mixed green salad with sprinkles of seaweed and a brick of tofu. My husband and I ordered a large sake and large beer. He returned with one beer glass and one sake glass. We ordered several items and most of it was left uneaten and he never asked. Yes we should have said the fish was off but by this time, we were ready to cut our losses. I know I seem picky but it was a constant stream of problems. Finally, we were told if we checked in on Facebook, we would get a discount. When the bill came, the discount was not applied. Arrrghhhh!
