I had the Salmon Lover the other day, and I think that’s what made me sick. I had a rough night and I was in a lot of(stomach) pain. I forgot why I stopped coming to this place, hopefully writing this review will remind to not come back. The one on Crenshaw is better and I think I might’ve thought I’d have the same experience here but that was not the case. And it’s overpriced for fast food sushi, $ 15?! No thanks!!! That’s what I get for being in a rush at lunch. Bad decisions.

The sushi rolls I had from here was the spicy tuna and the eel. It wasn’t very good at all. I felt nauseous afterwards. They gave a small styrofoam cup for me to drink tap water out of. And it was over priced at $ 18 for such a cheap taste and feel. I won’t be back…

Great sushi for the price. My order has always been perfect and fresh every time. Also, the staff are friendly, especially(Lek?) who remembered me and my order after only the 2x I ordered from there. Anyway, great place.

As soon as I got done getting an estimate for my car, I drove less than 100 meters south to this place for lunch. It seemed like a nice hole-in-the-wall sushi restaurant. However, once I walked in, I realized it had more of a fast food feel to it. I ordered their happy hour special, which included five pieces with a variety of seafood. The rolls were spicy tuna. The meal came with miso soup, and I had a cup of water with my meal. The food tasted ok, but nothing special. Truth be told, they could have placed far more effort in their meals. It was rather bland. The miso soup was ok, but it is hard to mess up soup. The meal did its job, and filled me up for the time being. It was healthy, and I got a good portion of lean protein. However, I would opt for other sushi joints next time.

dropped by for a quick lunch on the way to a meeting nearby. short story: for take out sushi, this has great value, fast service, and tasty fresh fish. cashier was friendly, service was incredibly fast, prices reasonable. i ordered the Osaka combo — 5 pieces of sushi — salmon, tuna and shrimp and 8 pieces of spicy tuna roll for $ 12.55. there were plenty of other combinations, but they offer a Build-your-own-combo set as well. they make bowls, noodle bowls, and individual rolls. extensive menu. great option when you’re in the mood for«fast food» sushi.

This is a fast food sushi place. It was decent for what it is and the price you pay. I got a 3 choice combo. The shrimp tempura was yummy, the philly roll was ok, a little mushy and the chicken teriyaki was ok. The chicken was grade D meat with the teriyaki but the sauce was bomb. I’ll go back. It’s not a sushi bar so don’t expect that. It’s fast food and good for what you pay.

Didn’t even make it into the store and already unhappy with the service. Tried ordering pick up and the first time we were put on hold for 10 minutes. We hung up and called again, and someone picked up the phone and(im assuming) left it off the hook. Didn’t even say hello or hold, and when we called back again, the line was«busy.» We tried back again 20 minutes later and the phone was still disconnected. I understand how busy things can get, as I’ve worked in countless restaurants, but this is pretty unacceptable and rude. Won’t be trying again, gj losing a group of customers

I am surprised by the mediocre ratings for Sushi Boy. It’s such a convenient place to pick up sushi to bring home. I always come here for their huge party platters or to-go rolls. They give you a good amount of sushi for a cheap prices. 8 pieces of spicy tuna rolls and 6 nigiri for $ 12.99 is unheard of! They also have the options of beef bowls, udon and salads. Happy hour from 2:30 — 5:30 daily. They also send out coupons periodically for 30%, which makes it so much better! What more can you ask for?

Had lunch here two consecutive days this week and for the price and selections you can’t beat them. I got their September special the three combo for around ten dollars. I got the tempura spicy tuna sushi and chicken teriyaki and the taste is actually good. The next day I got the kobe sushi platter and the serving and taste is good. Only drawback are the sauce as you have to pay for extra. Can they just make the sauce more it is hardly enough for your order.

Yeah man I am Japanese, but not expert in Sushi. Generally I like my food cooked. I ordered the Kobe plate, It had everything from fish roe to scallop sushi and a bowl of Miso soup. BTW I never liked Miso as a kid, unless you drop a large dollop of cooked sticky rice in there. For the price you can’t beat it! Sushi was fresh and tested very good. I even liked the scary looking fish eggs;) The snarky remarks kill me, they don’t even know the meaning of sushi and they are experts. Go pay the money at one of your Bushey Sushi bars. you can spend up to $ 100 at one of those. This is $ 10 plate people and very good btw. I will come back and recommend it only for non expert in Sushi type people; P I returned for lunch one week later;) ordered the Kobe plate, it was super yummy today. all the fish was fresh, the Albacore and Salmon were soo good! I’m lucky they are close to home;)

Only complaint is I spent $ 22.00 on sushi and they wanted to charge me 35 cents for a side of teriyaki sauce. Not for extra… just for one. I’ll go somewhere else next time. I’m pretty sure the owner would agree that you shouldn’t charge a customer for a single side of sauce. It’s a matter of common sense and the staff being able to use their best judgement. It would be different if I barely spent any money and asked for five sides of sauce. I’ll make the drive to Sushi Boy on 190th and Normandie where they know how to treat their customers.

Hey guys! Brian here, Im the weekend cashier/chef at sushi boy. Just clearing up the whole 35cents for an extra sauce review. The rule is that any extra sauce wanted is 35 cents as shown on the sign which is posted on the cash register. We do have a mercy rule which gives us permission to give 1 extra. If a cashier does give you more than 1 extra, just know we pay for it out of pocket. Its only 35 cents. We dont want to charge you extra for the sauce but its store policy. Thanks for reading!

Their regular prices on items are too expensive for a takeout Sushi spot, but they ALWAYS have a deal running, whether it’s a monthly special, manager’s special, anniversary special, new item special, happy hour special, you get the point :) We like to order here when we are too hungry to think about what we want to eat haha. It’s a little hard to navigate through all their deals for the best value, but it’s a quick enough stop at a friendly price to pass as a low key weeknight dinner.

Very decent and cheap sushi place, with good portions and fast friendly service, For an $ 8.95 lunch, you get to choose a 3-combo plate with a choice of white or brown rice with no extra cost, miso soup and a bed of fresh lettuce. What more can you ask for in a meal below $ 10?! I chose Spicy tuna sushi roll(6pcs), a mix of tempura(shrimp was included) and teriyaki chicken for the 3 selections. It was satisfying. The chicken was meaty tender and soft not salty fatty or burned. The sushi was comparable with other more expensive sushi places. Miso was perfect. The tempura was fine too. Maybe a little overcooked but I will ask for a less pan time next time. Salad, teriyaki and tempura sauces were generously included. I will be back again if I am in the area next time and crave Japanese.

Followed up my visit to Nozomi with a Sushi Boy platter for Super Bowl. For $ 39.95, you can get a 72 piece party platter that includes 24 California rolls, 24 spicy tuna rolls, and 24 salmon avocado rolls. That averages out to only $ 3.33 per 6 pieces. That is CHEAP for pretty decent rolls. This is easily cheaper and tastier than the stuff you can get at Costco or supermarkets.
