This place DOESNOTEXIST! I looked around Mitsuwa for almost an hour trying to find it. The Yamamotoyama Tea shop is open, but no sign for the Kyoto green tea ice cream and mochi and red bean. So sad. I looked forward to it and came all the way to Torrance. :(

Mitsuwa did it again? I didn’t want to drive all the way to Torrance but I had to try this famous green tea products from Japan. Cold green tea and green tea iced milk for $ 3.50 each. Green tea soft serve for $ 4.00. Green tea soft serve with rice balls and ogura for $ 4.50. Green tea soft serve with rice balls and ogura in a cup for $ 5.50. Kyohayashiya, a very popular tea house in Japan, is only here for a total of 11 days. Honestly I was skeptical because I tried ice cream in Japan and didn’t like it. It just didn’t taste like ice cream for me. I ordered both shiratama matcha ice cream and iced milk green tea. The iced milk green tea is comparable to Yamamotoyama but its matcha ice cream is yum. The waffle cone is not too hard, its matcha taste is pretty strong and perfect with red beans. My only disappointment is the mochi… too goey and bland compared to typical mochi. I wish this place would just stay @ Torrance. This is one of my favorite pop-up shops along with Obanyaki last time. Sigh… 4 stars! Sorry if you didn’t get a chance to try this but I tried it for all of you ;P Kyohayashiya is yummylicious!
