I’ve been planting more california native plants in the yard this year, but the choice of plants in nurseries from San Francisco down to Palo Alto has been limited this late in the season. I then searched for Iris Douglasiana and Pacific Coast Hybrids, and other than Canyon Snow and another yellow flowered douglas iris(I wanted the blue and purple ones), all the nurseries with walk in stores in the bay area and nurseries with online shipping already sold out their native irises. I found two that that sold seeds and ordered some, but was still not satisfied. I then found Mostly Natives Nursery online and saw they listed the native irises. I called to make sure they were in stock, was told YES! and drove right up to Tomales. They have a wide selection of california native plants and I filled a cart full of them. They had the Iris Douglasiana and various Pacific Coast Hybrids galore! So happy. I probably should have gotten double the amount of irises, but baby steps. I’m still planting them. :-) If you want california native plants, this is the place to go.

My uncle recently died and I live out of state. Walter was very helpful in picking out a plant that was currently in bloom and would grow well in the cemetery. They had someone who could write a nice handwritten note from me and delivered it to the church the day of the service. They made a difficult time much easier.

It’s local, it’s organized, and Walter will be happy to help you find what you’re looking for. It’s also a great place to walk to while you’re visiting K&A Take Away or the Tomales Bakery.

Finding the right plant for the right place doesn’t get any easier than visiting this little native plant nursery tucked along side the road in the city of Tomales. Oodles of plants artfully displayed by category, and where bees have their way with brightly colored flowers. Staff is friendly and eager to assist with plant selection. Every garden should have some of their beautiful native plants in it. The drive out to Tomales is picturesque, which is a bonus in my opinion.

The best selection of native plants in the North Bay! It’s a regular stop every time I head to the Marin/Sonoma beaches. You’ll find healthy plants that like our California climate. Stroll through this paradise with your wagon, and you are likely to meet a very happy hummingbird.

It had been years since I’d been here and I forgot how unique this nursery is. Not only do the have a great variety of plants that will thrive along the coast, the staff are eager to help you select what is best for you. Even if you aren’t in buying, it is fun just to walk around and see the native plants.

This is a great nursery with many beautiful native plants, really nice people, and music every Friday at 3. It’s a few feet from a bakery so a lot of people come in munching while they stroll among the well tended plants.
