After circling around the Brick House restaurant up the road, we found this restaurant online. I was impressed by the menu and high praises. When we got there, it ended up being fantastic just like the reviews said! It has a homey welcoming feel right when you walked in. The prices are slightly high, but the portions and quality explain it. I ordered lobster and crab ravioli. It was easily the best one I ever had. I could actually taste the seafood in it and the sauce was phenomenal. Our waiter was highly attentive. I was thrilled to find an excellent seafood restaurant in the area and look forward to coming back!

We’ve been by this place hundreds of times, and although it looked reasonably interesting from the outside its on a somewhat desolate stretch of Route 33. We finally«took a chance» last Friday. The parking situation is difficult(at best) so we parked on the side of the road in front as the lot was full. Upon entering, we were quite pleasantly surprised to find a newly renovated and festive interior. The hostess station is bizarrely set off into a corner of the bar well away from the entrance, so we decided to seat ourselves at the bar for a drink. The bar(while attractive) is one of those maze-like structures that sacrifices some comfort for seating area, so it took some«positioning» to find a pair of comfortable seats. I had a beer and my bride had a mixed-drink. The bartender was friendly and efficient and the tab for that came to $ 10.00, which I thought was reasonable. I was not comfortable having dinner at the bar(considering the amount of space) so we moved on to the dining area. We were seated in one of the window booths along the front wall which was quite nice. The main dining area is very brightly illuminated(to the point of being annoying), but the booth lighting was fine. After being seated, our waiter introduced himself as Bob. Bob seemed to be a personable fellow but smelled as if he was a tobacco tester at R J Reynolds. His smokey stench was completely out of character with the atmosphere that this establishment was attempting to portray(I hope). Bob took our drink order and disappeared for 10 minutes. He finally returned with drinks. We were somewhat undecided about our menu choices so Bob left us again. Mind you now, the restaurant was not overly crowded and there were three people assisting patrons in the dining area. Bob returned after another 10 minutes to take our order. I ordered pepper poppers as an appetizer for us both. My bride ordered a chicken and sausage dish, and I ordered Veal Cordonbleu, Hers came with potato in the dish, and I was given a choice of steak fries, mashed potato, or baked potato. I chose baked, and we selected dressing for our salads, and away Bob went. Bob returned in a very reasonable amount of time with the appetizer. He returned again in an equally reasonable amount of time with the salads. Once again, he returned in what I consider to be a timely fashion, with the entrees. Here things began to fall apart. My bride’s dinner was exactly as requested. Mine however was wrong. Instead of the Veal Cordonbleu, I received Chicken Cordonbleu. My baked potato was cold and hard as a rock. I took ‘olé Bob yet another 10 minutes or so to return with the butter for my potato, at which point he just«dumped» a pile of butter packets on the table and moved-on. Mind you, I had not squeaked or squacked about anything-just grinned and bore it. The Chicken Cordonblea was quite good, even if it was wrong. We finished dinner, and at this point hadn’t seen Bob for some time. Our glasses were empty and we were ready at this point to just move on. Finally, we flagged down a gentleman whom I believe was the manager(or owner) and complained mildly that we had been abandoned. Voila! Bob reappeared! He asked us if we had decided yet, and I replied, «decided what?» He then said«dessert», and looked confused. I told him we would take the check. Bob returned almost instantly with the check – the fastest he moved all night. We paid the $ 79.00 tab(plus $ 15.00 tip for a total of $ 94.00). In summary: the food is quite good, albeit very expensive for what the place is(or trying to be). Ambiance is good, but needs tweaking. Bob however, needs to save his tip money and use it towards a job training program for another career! A very nice guy, but NOT suited for his current endeavor! Upon further investigation, Bob and his«antics» are legendary. We will probably try this place again sometime, but it will be a little while.

My company recently had a small holiday gathering at Tally Ho’s. About a dozen of us. Everything was delicious, we had quite a mix of entrées including steaks, chicken Parm, Murphy & piccata, Filet mignons, Tuna and Salmon. No complaints from anyone and nothing but yummy sounds!!! The service was excellent, our server Gina was attentive and friendly. Our host Nick was right there and more than happy to help with anything we needed. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. If I have one negative to say it would be that there wasn’t enough food on the plates(they’re huge) and they could have used maybe a side of veg. to balance the presentation better. Also they offer only sides of Pasta or steak fries. Especially with steak, I always prefer a baked potato. Just like some prefer rice(also not offered). But if that’s the only complaint? Go, u won’t be disappointed. We plan to go again no doubt.

I have passed this restaurant hundreds of times and thought it was a dive bar. After finally researching it a bit, it was clear I had the wrong impression. Finally I gave it a try. Last night I went with my wife and daughter. We arrived around 6:15 and it was already half full(although the parking lot was almost full so not too much parking). Upon walking in, the restaurant has a very well lit, clean and pleasant feel. I believe it was also recently remodeled. It is not a huge place, but plenty of seating and a great looking bar for those who want to eat at the bar. The menu is excellent with something for everyone. They had Rack of Lamb and Seafood Fra Diavlo specials. They had plenty of options around Chicken, Fish, Beef, Pork, and Pasta. I had the Pork Chops Murphy which were perfectly cooked and all the ingredients tasted fresh(no jarred peppers!). My wife had the Filet of Sole Francese which was delicious! The salad came ice cold with a delicious(although garlicy) house basalmic dressing. Bread was served hot, and the Fried Calamari appetizer was crispy and tender with a tasty tomato sauce. Portions were generous. All in all the meal was very enjoyable. I also want to point out(and this I really appreciate) management watched the dining room for any sign of a customer needing something, and personally greeted and thanked each guest upon departing. There was an attention for detail which I do really appreciate in a restaurant. I will definately be back to try other items on the menu. I am always looking for a «not so fancy» but very nice restaurant(a big step up from bar and grill) that has a good menu, great food, and available for seating on short notice without a reservation. I think I have found one here!

Been by the place a thousand times looks like a hideout bar where you take a date during an illicit affair… Just teasing We heard food was good and plenty… We sat in the dining area and we were surprised at the menu and service. Waiters in ties kind of fancy and the menu was pricey for the type of restaurant, we thought were were walking into. Our order was Meat Lasagna and Chicken Parm. We got salad and bread… Meal was very good. Good portions brought both home in doggie bag… Only had one beer and an iced tea, bill was $ 41.00 Going to try the bar next time

Delicious Italian food. Fast pleasant service. A little on the pricey side, but really great food! An older crowd — not a party atmosphere. The interior is quaint. Great place for a tastey peaceful dinner.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside. But the food was good and the portions were huge. Huge, as in consider sharing. I got the veal picatta, which came with three, yes, three huge pieces. Not to mention the salad that accompanied it as well as a side dish, in my case pasta. And this side of pasta was enough to constitute a full sized portion. Would definitely recommend it if you’re in the area.

This place is around the corner from where I live and had put off trying it for so long. Almost wish I had put it off forever. The bartender sat us and was rude enough to insult the restaurant I work at immediately. The waiter didn’t come around for a bit, but he was very nice and professional. We ordered a chicken dish and a tuna dish. The chicken was dried out, as if it were made earlier and microwaved, but the flavors were good, so that’s too bad. The tuna dish was ordered rare and specified to be EXTREMELY rare. It was medium, at best. Very disappointing. I cannot find a reason to come back.

I picked this restaurant to bring my family for dinner and it was a good choice with plenty of seating and a variety of food on the menu that satisfied everyone. They were very accommodating and made A chicken alfredo even though it wasn’t on the menu. We also had steak fries, mashed potatoes, sirloin steak, capellini pasta with red clam sauce, and lamb. There was nothing to complain about so we left satisfied. :)

Well, tried it for dinner twice, failed twice. Pork chop special over cooked, veggie raw. Second trip, steak way overcooked replaced with tough raw steak:/ The employees are nice though:)

This was not what I was looking for — had I been able to find a menu online I would have saved myself a trip. This appears to be a bar but does not serve bar fare — this surprised me. I had the special meat Lasagna and it was OK — not special. The beer on tap selection was standard, which is to say poor — nothing local. But mostly it wasn’t what I was after. Service was good and most folks there with me appeared to be regulars. Really 2.5 stars — but by the rating standards nothing more.

The food here is wonderful. I had the stuffed salmon and it was beyond great. I had a chance to taste my wife’s pepper steak and it had a bold flavor to it. Wonderful! If you get a chance to dine here you will not be let down.

This is a solid choice for food in this area! You have to be looking for it as you drive by and the parking lot is a little dark at night, but plenty of parking. I was dining alone and sat at the bar. It took awhile for the bartender to leave the regulars to come and take my order. When she came by I asked if they had any Malbec wine — she answered they didn’t and when I asked for a recommendation she said she didn’t drink wine, so she didn’t know. OK… I asked what was popular with wine drinkers and we went from there. Ordered one of that night’s specials(Shepherd’s Pie) and it was really, really good. Also the portion size was HUGE! Made me a little sad that I was staying in a hotel and couldn’t take the leftovers with me. Will definitely return — will probably opt for table service.

LOVE this place. Location and atmosphere are unassuming — it’s located on route 33 and it’s typically quiet and draws an older crowd. However, food is delicious. Huge portions, good quality, very reasonably priced. Pub fare for sure, but Italian-inspired. Restaurant décor mimics old English tavern. Wallpaper features fox hunting illustration. The chicken parm is awesome — ask for steak fries well done as your side. If you’re seeking a festive, hip atmosphere, I would not advise coming here. If you are craving good hearty pub fare, you will not be disappointed.

We were shopping in the near outlets and drove by Tally-Ho. This place is truly a hidden gem with some of the best food around. We were greeted promptly and our service was excellent. I had one of their pork chop specials and my wife had the stuffed salmon. Both were cooked perfectly. We had a choice of ziti, salad or steak fries with our entrees and we shared some ziti and a salad. We shared a tiamisu for dessert, it was to die for! Overall the portion sizes are large but the prices are very reasonable. Overall it was an excellent experience and we definitely plan on returning.

We seriously just happened upon the Tally Ho while exploring the area. Actually we were driving by and the husband asked if i wanted to check it out and before I could answer made one of those terrifying turns into the lot. I don’t know what we were expecting but it was small, neat, and filled with an older crowd. The bar was big, dimly lit, and empty. The dining room was had a nice crowd of 50 plus year olds happily eating and talking to each other. We had our drinks at the bar and left. It wasn’t really our scene but a nice place nonetheless.

Stopped in here on the way down the shore and was pleasantly surprised. First, I have to mention the cosmo I had. It was perfectly mixed and served in a large shaker, so it was really a double. The food was also excellent. The portions were very generous. I had the Scampi which had just the right touches of everything and not overly salty. My husband had the scrod which was very fresh and prepared simply but full of flavor with light buttered breadcrumbs. For dessert we had tartufo which was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Oh and the service was also great… the manager was pleasant and our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. This place is going to be our ‘pit stop’ for the shore from now on.

First, it’s in Tinton Falls, NOT Eatontown. «A Diamond In The Rough». From outside, it’s location and area, you might not consider trying it. But don’t miss this gem. As for the interior, it is a small place. I estimate it seats about 50 people. There are a number of booths, each in there own separate area, divided by walls… very private. I like that! The dining room is small, but bright & roomy. They don’t jamb tables in too close to each other. It could use a décor«make-over», some of the dated«Fox & Hound» wallpaper is peeling off in some areas, but not a major issue(to me). I met a client there a few months ago for lunch. I had the escarole and bean with sausage(if you like: Hot, Mild or Mixed). It was as good as mine! And mine is excellent! LOL I live & work about 20 minutes away. And I’ll go there for lunch when I have a little extra the time. During lunch, I’ll sit at the bar. A little dark, and sometimes a bit cold(in the summer). But the barmaid is attentive, sweet, and personable. When I first met her she was a blond, the next time, a brunette. At lunch the bar crowd can be an eclectic mix of anything from construction workers, to the occasional biker, to business men in suits. I enjoy sitting at the bar for lunch. They have a «maitre ‘d» in the small dining room. He is quick to greet you with a smile. Very professional. He also stopped by the table to ensure everything was«OK» during out meal. After being seated, we were greeted by our waitress, Eleena(spelling?). She was the best waitress we have experienced in years… hands-down! She always had a smile, plenty of eye-to-eye contact. I hate it when wait staff just look on there dupe pads without looking at the customer. Not, Eleena! She was very attentive. And when we let her know that we were looking to have a «relaxed», slow paced dining experience, she didn’t have a problem with that, and advised me, «when you want me, just wave me down». She took our drink order, and gave us time to chat a bit, before ordering appetizers. Their house«Pinot» wasn’t bad. They could use some additional draft beer choices, it’s somewhat limited to Ales and a Stout. We ordered appetizers. I had the escargot, and my girls shared the fried calamari. The calamari was good… lightly battered, tender, not rubbery at all. I didn’t try the sauce that came with it, but my daughter totally enjoyed it. And the escargot was very tasty. They were served in a typical escargot dish, with the 6 little«pockets» for 6 snails. And the flavorful, herb butter was very good. There were plenty of small snails… way more than 6. I, myself, prefer the larger snails(1 per pocket). But again, they were very good. The salad was non-descript, but looked, tasted and felt(crisp) very fresh. No browned edges, and served in wooden bowls(which are a bit too big for the salad portion size). The balsamic vinaigrette dressing was very good. But the Bleu Cheese dressing tasted and looked, «bottled». All dressings are served on the side in small individual stainless cups. For dinner, Wifey had the Chicken Picatta with these beautifully cooked broccoli– bright green and slightly al dente, Queenie(my daughter) had the Tuna Steak Stir Fry, and I had the Veal Picatta. First, let me say that the veal was very tender, with a great lemony sauce with plenty of capers. Wifey enjoyed the chicken, as well. Portions were enough for a normal person to want to bring some home. Not me. I don’t leave anything on a plate if it’s good. The Tuna Steak Stir-Fry was«interesting». For some reason, I was expecting a tuna steak, cut-up, and stir fried along with the vegetables in an Asian inspired sauce. Instead, they stir-fry the vegetable and grill(or pan fry. I didn’t notice, which) the tuna steak(whole) with sesame seeds, place the tuna over the rice, then add the veggies on top. It was also very tasty. But unfortunately, the tuna was under cooked. They offer a choice of starches– baked potato, mashed, french fries, rice or any one of 3 different pastas(with marinara), with just about any entrée. Some of the combination seem«different», but, some people may like mashed potatoes with their Chicken Francaise. …what do i know. Nice to have the choice, though. For dessert, Wifey didn’t want anything, so Queenie and I shared the Lemoncello Cake. HOLYCITRUS! This was FANTASTIC! A Light, lemony layer cake with a well-balanced creamy filling. So, 3 beers, 4 glasses of wine, iced tea(with 2 refills). 2 appetizers, 3 entrees w/salad, 1 dessert= $ 113. IMHO, WELL worth it! Service was Excellent. The staff in place seems to really care for their customers. The food was better than average. If it wasn’t for the tuna being undercooked, I’d give it 5 stars. But to me, that’s a rookie mistake. Will I be back? Plenty of times, for lunch and dinner. Would I recommend it? Yes. In-fact, we’re going out to dinner in a few weeks with our neighbors– I’m going to suggest the Tally-Ho. We’ll see.
