This used to be my go to Perkins. My last experience there wasn’t a great one. I had packed my meal into the container and left money out for my check. I went to use the bathroom(maybe 3 minutes) and when I came back my table was already cleared. I went to the front and told them I had only went to the bathroom and was told that the waiter«jumped the gun». I saw the waiter that had done so giggling in a corner with the other waitresses. A lesson in good customer service is needed here.

Went to this Perkins when visiting Asbury Park on 4÷10÷16! Had lunch there!!! The service and the food was very good!!! Can’t complain one bit at all! Was surprised though that they put the Burger I ordered on a very small dish! Kind of odd!!!

(Our advice is to drive away quickly from this dirty, run down Perkins with an overall rude, attitudinal staff and go to the Perkins in Eatontown where the restaurant is very clean and the service staff is normal!) This morning at about 10:30 am there was 3 small booths occupied at the front of the Neptune Perkins and one at the back. An older, blonde hostess walked to the back and put the menus down at a booth back to back with the only occupied booth at the back of the restaurant, said nothing and strode away. As I was sitting down a young, blond waitress asked if everything was okay and I replied it was not since I did not understand why we had been sat next to the lone occupied table. To that waitress’s credit she immediately offered to move us to another booth or table. Since I had already sat down I shook my head and quietly said no and that I was now settled. I expected the young waitress to go tell the hostess of my opinion so the hostess could make a note to give folks some space when the restaurant was so utterly empty. The young waitress offered a second time to move us and I again replied no. My college age daughter then asked if we could have a few moments and the waitress left. A moment later we hear a loud, older, red haired waitress complaining about my daughter and I from the middle of the room’s serving station where the waiters go when not serving. From that moment, until we left, the older, red haired waitress spoke out loudly and repeatedly about us and glared at me almost continuously. While ordering I had to ask for bacon 4 four times because the young waitress kept repeating that I could have sausage on the side of my biscuits with sausage and gravy. After the third time I once more quietly stated I wanted bacon then opened the menu and showed her the menu even said there was bacon on the side so she would write down bacon. I asked for sunny-side up eggs which later the young waitress acknowledged I had ordered even though she brought me scrambled eggs. My daughter asked for her muffin to be toasted. When she got the muffin it seems to have been toasted the day before because it was ice cold and the butter never melted into it even slightly. We ran out of creamers but no one bothered to replenish them nor did anyone come over after the food was served so we could ask for more creamers or a container for the cold, left over muffin my daughter did not want to eat. While waiting to request a to go container, sipping my coffee and wishing I had more creamers I heard the older, red haired waitress saying to other employees that she was going to have us thrown out of the restaurant for taking to long. We had been there less then an hour and even at the end of our hour there was only about a third of the seats occupied so I cannot imagine why we had to listen to such rudeness. Unfortunately that waitress was the only one who came into our area because after the first couple had left they were immediately replaced by a man. The hostess obviously making the deliberate point she would sit folks right next to us even though the room was still mainly empty. The older, red headed waitress was assigned to serve him so I had to request the to go container from her. When we went to the register to pay we were forced to listen to the older, red haired waitress and the older, blond hostess describing why I should never have discussed the seating issue with the young blond waitress. I was told I should have gone back to the hostess station(by crossing the entire restaurant from back to front) and spoken to the hostess about not liking the booth. I was told the hostess had twenty years of experience and I was the only one ever who did not like being sat literally back to back with other folks and everyone else in the near empty restaurant sat where they were shown to sit with no issues. The entire time the older, red haired waitress glared at me with such ferocity I worried she was going to attack me physically because I had dared to quietly voice the back to back booth situation to a waitress who got flustered, took our order badly and then cried because I had quietly pointed out the food issues. Despite the loud, rude, nastiness I had to stand and listen to at the register I never yelled at anyone, I never cursed nor did I threaten anyone. I quietly replied it was normal to expect to be seated with breathing space from another couple in a nearly empty restaurant, for food choices to be accurately written down, and if food was delivered incorrectly to be allowed to point out the food was wrong without being loudly accused of maltreating a young waitress. I don’t expect anyone to grovel. I do expect accurate service or in the face of mistakes someone to apologize and acknowledge the mistakes. What should have been a quiet, lazy, late morning breakfast turned into a meal where my daughter and I drove away feeling shattered from the inappropriate rudeness we had endured.

I really wanted to like this place but it was disgusting. Looks like it was run by teenagers. Our server was friendly enough, but fairly inattentive. She didn’t even know what«a la mode» was. Someone at another table ordered their pie a la mode and she brought them a bowl. Weird. The place was run down and dirty. There weren’t many customers so some of the servers should have worked on cleaning up the garbage on the floor.

I’ve been to this Perkins at least once a month, usually at weekend mornings with family. Service and food is great. Always packed with people and that’s a good thing. I’d prefer other Perkins restaurants other than this one though.

This is my go to breakfast place when I don’t want take out or drive thru stuff. The service is always great and the food is delicious. We normally go after my son’s soccer games on Saturday’s. If you go on weekends expect a wait but by 11 the lines are down. The omelets are the best. The portions are big you get an big omelet, choice of hash browns or home fries. And plus a choice of 3 pancakes, a muffin, or toast. I have never been for lunch or dinner so I can’t say how that is but I’m sure it is good.
