I’ve shopped here for about 11 months now, since we moved into this area. About a month ago, I started driving down to the westlake Ralphs which is an extra 5 minute drive because I’ve become so annoyed with this store. 1. The service deli is slow. They used to have best baked chicken. The last time I went to the counter, it was boiling in grease. I asked why and was told that it keeps it juicy. Keeping meat in a liquid so hot it’s at rolling boil doesn’t exactly keep it juicy. Also the grease was pretty unappetizing. When I told them it was kind of not ideal and I missed their old chicken, the employee said«well you don’t have to buy it.» I haven’t purchased baked chicken since. 2. Their bakery is amazing. It’s the best bakery other than Gelsons. However, when I complained about the birthday cake I purchased because the«Happy Birthday» on the cake was slanted and it looked sloppy, I was told they couldn’t fix it and that decorating cakes is hard. I was also told I could try to decorate around the Happy Birthday to make it look better. Um, ok. They did offer to give me a free cake in the future. I don’t exactly know how I would call in that favor since they didn’t give me a certificate or anything. 3. The produce section is awful. First, they pretty much only carry a conventional version OR an organic version of something. If you don’t want to buy the more expensive organic version, you may be out of luck. For instance, they only have organic leeks at $ 3.99. They only carry the organic versions of kale and chard as well. And of course since most people who shop at this location aren’t buying $ 4 worth of organic kale, they have low turn over and the stuff just doesn’t look good. Also be careful of the russet potatoes. I’ve purchased green ones many times. 4. The store lay out is odd. Let’s say you are looking for sausages to grill. To see what all your options are, you would need to look in the deli section, the cold cut section and the meat department. If there’s a spice you want, it could be in the spice section or one of the many ethnic foods sections. So you do a lot of walking at this store. 5. Check out takes forever. If you get out in under 10 minutes you are lucky. Usually only 2 – 3 stands are open and it takes them 3 – 5 minutes to ring up a customer. The cashiers openly talk badly about other departments or their own baggers. They will make passive aggressive comments if another department didn’t label something properly. Look forward to your bread and canned goods being placed in the same bag. Your bananas will be squished as well. Raw meat with your veggies will always happen. Also they put 2 – 3 items in each plastic bag. So unless you ask for paper, you end up with 10 plastic bags for 14 items. 6. This store is pricey. I tend to buy the same stuff each week and I feel like my bill is about 10−15% less at at Ralphs. For instance, the bread I buy is $ 4.99 here. At Ralphs, it’s about $ 3. It’s that small difference that makes a bigger impact on my overall bill. 7. The Starbucks is actually a Von’s Starbucks so there’s usually only one employee working there. They don’t have a crew of baristas. It’s faster to walk across the parking lot and go to the stand alone Starbucks and order. The employees are super nice but they are so slow because there’s just one person taking orders and making drinks. It’s not their fault but it’s frustrating. 8. The parking lot is a hot mess. Usually people are confused about which way to go and who has the right of way.

Stopped by to grab a few things and this would have been an awesome trip of not for Maria. Our Cashier Maria greeted us nicely and we let her know that 2 of the packages were open because we were starving. Apparently we accidentally tore the bar code on the sushi and she asked«why did you do that?» We said we didn’t mean to. She asked her bagger Bianca if she could run over because she needed a price. Bianca left and returned telling her it was $ 7.50. Maria said to her rudely, «No, I need the barcode, I have nothing to ring up.» So Bianca hurriedly ran over to get it and we stood there while Maria rolled her eye and talked crap about Bianca with another cashier. Bianca returned and gave the sushi to Maria then had Bianca return it. We were searching for our card number and got to her Maria say«oh my God.» under her breath. Very unprofessional and rude. Especially to her coworker who was pleasant and nice the entire time. The only reason this review got a 2 rating instead of 1 was because Bianca deserved better than working with such a negative, rude, hateful person.

Alright, my family and I have been shopping at this Vons for years, so it is about time I reviewed it. It is your typical Vons, but the location has a bank(can’t remember the name), Starbucks, Panda Express, and Redbox as well. The bakery is phenomenal, and they have a nice variety of goods. Customer service is mediocre, but I personally believe it has improved over the years. There is plenty of parking, but the parking lot can be a hassle to navigate through especially on weekends.

Do you like paying more for grocery items and/or enjoy rude as hell employees? Well, search no further, this Vons has it all! All in one convenient package! The cashiers here are the most glaring aspect of this store. Constantly complaining and rude to non regular customers. They will chat it up with a regular in front of you then when it’s your turn they don’t say hello or your total. They also don’t say goodbye when you pay to leave! Avoid at all costs!

The store is alright but the service deli sucks. These people work at a snails pace in the service deli. I swear I can crawl faster than they walk. It takes 15 minutes just to have a damn sandwich made! I see people impatiently waiting just to get deli meats or cheese. Definitely avoid the service deli in this vons unless you are incredibly patient. I write this review as I wait 15 minutes to make a simple breakfast burrito.

THEBAKERYISAMAZING!!! Best cakes ever! But avoid the fruits and veggies they sell here. Every single time I walk into this section of Vons I’ve seen at least 3 moldy fruits or veggies. If you want fruit or vegetables go someplace else. But if you want something like cereal, soda, or DONUTS, CAKES and COOKIES from the bakery(yum yum yum) this is the place. :)

If Archie Bunker and Andy Griffith opened up a Vons store this is what it would feel like — a Southern type of slow and chatty with a pronounced whiff of incompetence and customer apathy. The shelves are stocked with the middle block of main stream mediocrity. Slim organic /vegan /alternative selections. Also, the bread is way the hell on the other side of the store at the bakery /deli. Prices are OK. Facility is clean. It has an inside US Bank branch(which has been robbed). The parking lot is busy but large and accessible. Bottom line is there is Vons shoppers who like this sort of thing and not. I’m a «not.» I actually dread going here but don’t want Haggens to be the only local market. I currently split my spending 80% /20% in favor of Haggens. PS. Guard your delicate fruits from ham-handed checkers.

I returned to Von’s after albertsons closed and I was very pleased to see new employees, more employees and decent prices. Checkout lines move fast now and everyone’s happy! I absolutely love that they are consistent with the freshness and quality of their fruits and vegetables. Check out out the bakery section filled with delicious muffins, cookies, pies, and pastries.

This store has good produce and I love their bakery. They also have really good deals most of the time. I also think they have really good customer service. Overall really good experiences.

Last week waited in line at the Panda Express in Von’s for over 10 minutes. Today it took over 15 minutes to purchase groceries, and this isn’t the first time I’ve been here that the place seemed VERY understaffed

Worst store ever!!! There are always a million customers and one or two registers open at a time. Many of the cashiers are rude and dismissive. There are always items that are priced incorrectly or not priced at all. Do yourself a favor and drive to another store.

My experience today was a complete failure from a customer service perspective! 9:30 am the store fairly empty of shoppers, literally less than 30 customers roaming the store. I needed assistance in the coffee aisle so I went to the empty checkout line near by and asked the clerk with the empty line may I have assistance in the coffee isle? She pages someone to her check out line. The lady comes and the clerk says, «This lady wants assistance.» I asked for assistance retrieving an item off the top shelve and suggested maybe a stepping stool would be handy for the reach. Both clerks looked as if I totally unconvinced them only for me to direct the clerk to my product and for her to say oh I should go get a stool to get that for u… I’m actually getting more frustrated recapping the Von’s store experience this morning. The check out experience was 10x less pleasant, but I’d rather not discuss it any longer. Very unhappy customer!

This Vons pretty much has everything and it amazed me! I went in just to go to the US Bank(they even have a Teller!!), but I walked in to find a mini-mall of all necessities! They’ve got a bank, Starbucks, Deli, Red Box and a PANDAEXPRESS(WTF??)! This would be a nice place to have a date because it has everything, no joke. Overall very impressed and happy. I will be coming back!

For the most part the store is ok. However, the deli ruins the entire store! They never cut my meat thin. It’s always thick as can be. I think should buy the whole«roast» or «turkey» and just eat it with my hands. I don’t know if they’re lazy and this lowers the number of slices they have to slice but it pisses me off and I’ve heard others complain too when we’re ordering. To add icing on the cake, they hide in the back and there’s no bell and you can hear them talking. They take as long as possible to acknowledge you, like they’re hoping you’ll just leave. I’m going to buy my deli meats and products at Ralphs from now on, they at least ask you every time if you want a sample so you know you’re getting it the way you asked.

This is a great grocery store as far as selection and great prices go! I always stock up when I’m here because I know they have the best sales! I love their deli meat selection! Very friendly staff! The store is well stocked I always seem to find what I am looking for! Chicken on sale? I’ll take it. Roast on sale? I’ll take it! $ 1.99 for a 8 pack of diet cokes I’ll definitely take it! Being from Memphis I am only accustomed to Kroger and large mass merchandisers such as Target so when I first moved here the question was Ralph’s, sprouts, pavilions, Fresh’N Easy, Farmer’s Market, Albertsons, Whole Foods… and although I found all of those selections to be good, Von’s was simply great!

Great local store, well stocked. What I like about this one there is a Starbucks inside and a Panda Express. Although I won’t usually touch Panda this kids love it. Decent deli, easy to park and local. Nice staff.

What’s there to say about a major chain supermarket like this??? Not much. This place is run of the mill. Nothing distinguishing about it. It’s the same«blah.» If you know the Vons in your area, you pretty much know this one. Contrary to what James C. said in his review, I haven’t found anyone here to be particularly rude. But neither have I found them to be particularly helpful. It’s not the largest Vons around, either. Decent selection. The place is relatively clean. And… that’s about it. [Shrug].
