I took my daughter here for story-time and it was so fun. The storyteller did a great job interacting with the kids. There was a snack provided, a fun passport book to put stickers in during the story and the kids even got to pick out a complimentary book on the way out. This is a gem of a store in the mall and I’ll definitely be back.

I absolutely adore this shop!!! Whenever I come in, I’m greeted and asked for assistance. I often peruse every section for a length of time and I appreciate how the employees don’t hover over me or make me feel rushed. I always buy at least 2 books on every visit! My all time favorite store to visit in The Oaks.#noshame

This place is small but they have a great selection! The books are very reasonably priced as well. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and there are a few comfy chairs if you want to hang out for a bit.

Nice ‘upscale’ used bookstore with a well-thought-out inventory, reasonable prices, and friendly service. However, the store’s «ALLSALESAREFINAL» policy means it’s a bad idea to shop there for gifts unless you’re 100% certain you’ve selected a winner.

Finally got to visit this store… friendly service and love that it had a wide variety. Comics for $ 2– what a steal! I could spend all day in there!

Has a little of everything. Lots of popular items: Comics, Manga, teen fiction. There’s a creepy section in the back with hella old used books. Good prices. I’m only giving 3 stars because there’s a lot of smutty books near the kids books along with old playboy magazines.

I love the Open Book. I gravitate towards the non-fiction section usually. They have a fantastic arts n’ crafts section that I enjoy browsing through. I often find books on my Amazon wishlist for half the price. The staff is cool and they allow you to browse to your heart’s content. I really like the stationary and journals section as well — they have one of my favorite artists there(Jill Bliss). Highly recommended shop!

This is a great, local, discount book store. Many of their books, trade paperbacks, etc. are 50% off. The staff is friendly and helpful and there’s a great vintage books section against the back wall. I will definitely be stopping here when I’m in the area.

This is an attractive book store inside The Oaks Mall. It’s closer to the movie theater than JC Penny if that helps. They’re inside and upstairs and had a nice little selection. The store was clean and had a very cozy feel to it. I was greeted pretty quickly by a young woman stocking books and she asked if she could help me. I was looking for a day planner and she showed me what they had though none quite fit me. Next I asked for logic puzzles and she took me right to the section. I browsed for a long while and then bought three books. Total price $ 6 plus tax. The books all seem to be about 50% off the original retail price, but they all looked new to me. The woman working there was very nice and I appreciated her help. I noticed on the way out that they had some comic books for sale near the front entry.

This bookstore’s appearance in the Oaks Mall is a terrific option for those of you looking for an alternative to the majority of stores in this mall that are aimed at specific target consumers who want one thing(clothes clothes clothes). The Open Book has a good variety of fiction and non fiction and a superb selection of Art and Photography books. The books are all in great condition and if there is not a price on the book then it is 50% if the cover price. The staff is extremely helpful and don’t be surprised if they ask you about the book you are buying. They have chairs all over so you can sit and read. A great refuge from the mall and I am happy to report on every visit the store has been busy. A book lover’s sanctum. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

I had no idea this store has existed for 2 months inside The Oaks Mall. The Oaks has been lacking a bookstore in years and I was so happy to see this gem turn up. The first section that caught my eye was the front and back graphic novel book shelf– one side filled to the brim with Marvel/DC books and the other side with independent/political graphic novels(my weakness). And don’t forget to mention that many of these items were marked at half off, if not more! I was so impressed with the unique graphic novels they carried. I was also stoked at seeing boxes of paper comic books by the entrance. They also have a small, but great selection of affordable dvds(documentaries, cult classics, etc.). I was also drawn to the vintage and affordable leather-bound classics in the back. I was also excited to see an open mic spot and also other various events hosted here(arts/crafts, storytime, and book signings!). I hope this family owned business is here for years to come.
