We finally found the right opportunity to come to The Blue Fish and it did NOT disappoint! This is a high-energy, positive environment… never once did we feel we were waiting too long for service or to be able to ask a question. As for the food, the ginger house salad was completely different from my expectation in a very pleasant way. Then came the sushi — specialty/house rolls — both seemed to melt in our mouths and left us wondering what other heavenly rolls would we order on our next visit. Our server Nathan was very helpful, attentive and highly available despite having a full section of customers. Overall, a fantastic experience… we WILL be back!

Super impressed with the food and the service! I don’t think a used plate stayed on our table for more than a minute. The sushi was amazeballs and Mackenzie did an excellent job of recommending good eats! We will be back!

I dined with a friend for happy hour and we sat on the patio. I would highly recommend patio seating if available. The inside is quite dark while the view outside is beautiful. The service was great but the food was lacking. We had a variety of apps, rolls, sashimi, and even an entrée. None of the items were amazing. Our server asked if I didn’t like my appetizer because I only ate a few bites. When I explained I didn’t like it she told me she would remove it from the bill. The portion size is great. A lot of sushi restaurants give you a lot of rice in the roll and very little fish, but not this place. So overall: Service A+, Ambiance Outside A+, Food C-, Happy Hour A+ Maybe they were having an off night. I would still go back for happy hour again.

Had the yellowtail roll and the mackerel sashimi. The mackerel came on a bed of ice and was some of the best fish I’ve had. Buttery and delicious. Our waiter Nathan gave some great advice and told me to try the baby yellowtail next time and advised me to ask before ordering the uni to make sure it was still soft. Thanks Nathan!

This place is good if you want some decent rolls. Their sashimi wasn’t anything too special, and their desserts are okay too. My fiancée had teriyaki chicken that was pretty terrible, I’d say just order the rolls here(rainbow roll is particularly good). The staff can be a little pushy about ordering their drinks, appetizers, and signing up for their membership(which their member program seems terrible), as our waitress kept pushing us to do this after we said no. I think the staff shouldn’t be pressuring and telling everyone to leave good reviews, I don’t think that incentives people to leave a good review, if they had a good time they probably will if they use Unilocal

I’m a regular here and I will admit, I’m pretty big on service. Never have I felt the staff was not attentive or rude at all. I am a big fan of Blue Fish in the Woodlands, not only for their excellent waiting service but for the fresh and unique sushi and sashimi. Their cooked dinners are also pretty tasty as well. I also am a fan of their lychee sake and martinis here. The bar and dining areas are spacious and there is outdoor seating on the lake. I never have had to wait long lines to dine in, as you are seated right away upon arrival. Valet is available for parking in the garage right across from the restaurant.

The restaurant closes at 11:30PM on Saturday — I checked their closing time on the website before I decided to come, right when my partner and I stepped in at 10:55PM, the host girl looked surprise(obviously showed on her face for 3 sec), that face made me wanted to confirm if they still open and she said yes. We got seated immediately. Then come our waitress with a mad/irritated face(she did not smile at us or look happy throughout the whole meal), she gave us the menus, come back 2 minutes later telling us that we need to order now because the kitchen is closing. She said«last warning» instead of «last call» …weird! Then we were forced to order without going through all of the menu, at that moment I became mad! If you are closing down the kitchen, then let me know before seating me so I will find another restaurant to better enjoy our romantic late holiday dinner. We order Ahi tower(good, not best, but nobody can make mess with this dish), miso soup, Julie’s roll(delicious, no rice, variety of sashimi wrapped in cucumber), Sashimi roll(not so good, no rice, variety of sashimi wrapped in carrot, ponzu sauce = too sour, siracha). I was a bit disappointed because we were rushed to order and did not realize both rolls are riceless and they have exact same ingredients(sashimi), but in different wraps and sauces. But I what disappointed the most was, our fried ice cream came out at the same time as our rolls. By the time we finished eating rolls, our ice cream melted badly. Wow!!! We understood enough to give them 20% tip simply because we came near their closing time(40 min before), but do we want to come back here? Definitely NOT. Throughout the whole stay, our waitress gave us the«I don’t want you here» face. This is an upscale sushi place, this kind of service is unacceptable! If you are open and agree to take in customers, you have to give as best service as possible no matter what.

My husband and I had date night and decided to visit The Blue Fish for the first time. We did not know what to order and the restaurant manager took us under his wing and gave us tuna tar tar to try. We approved so he recommended the 121 and the lobster roll. Both were full of the right combination of flavors and were quite filling. We were too busy eating and enjoying each other’s company I forgot to take pictures of the food. This restaurant is great for all occasions.

Early dinner on a Saturday night. No wait, great service. Sushi was staggered as it came out so that it didn’t crowd the table. Service was on point, drinks always stayed full. We’ve been to the downtown location and were apprehensive that The Woodlands location wouldn’t compare, but it did.

Sushi was super fresh and I loved that they have some unique things on the menu. Prices are a bit high but to be expected for the area.

So happy this place opened in the woodlands! Love the food! At first the service was not full on great but now that they’ve got some experience under their belt, it’s getting better each time I go! Bus boys are the most attentive men! My drink never reached the bottom. Food is great. Portions are Texas sized. Happy each time!

I brought my mom here tonight for a Date Night. Blown away! Our waiter, Nathan, was so knowledgable and helped us choose what to order! I went with the Ahi Tuna Tower! It was the best I’ve ever had! He even mixed it all up for me and told me it is common to do! I thought I was the only weirdo who did this! We can’t wait to come back and sit in the bar for happy hour! Don’t forget to ask for Nathan! We came back and brought my grandmom. The staff remembered us and were so kind and always checked in on us! The owner even remembered us! You have to try this place out! So classy!

Yes this place is new and then we’re still getting over some Kinks in the logistics and operational flow what is a still fresh and delicious compared to a lot of the choices in The Woodlands. They were nice enough to write me back when I reviewed the downtown location and they showed some appreciation which was nice because I gave them an honest review. I went again to this location and got a lot of options with Sashimi in large chunks of fresh fish. They were all very fresh and flavorful and well put together. I like their creations and their speed. I’m not sure what trouble other people have been having here. I think it’s just as good as any of the fancy Woodlands if not better My favorite dishes involve yellowtail sashimi tuna sashimi and salmon sashimi for the roles with all fish in them. The tuna tartare and the poke Tower were excellent

Went with a great group and we were ready for a nice evening and dining experience. With exception of the busboys, Everything was a few notches below the rating noted below: 5* to busboys. Water glasses always full. 4* while cramped, for outdoor seating. 3* for service. Pretty unhappy. 2* for food taste, quality and value. 1* for décor and vibe. Unfortunately the overall experience was a huge let down and will be the first and last visit.(For 5 of us)

I have been to the other locations in Houston and I must say I really like the look of this location. I am disappointed in the service I received though. We were the only people there(in between lunch rush and dinner) and the food took over 30 minutes to come out. The service should have been must faster for being so slow… Onto the food and drinks! We ordered this yummy cocktail that was topped with Prosecco, I forgot the name but it was the first drink under cocktails. For appetizers we ordered the spicy edamame(very spicy!) which was good. For my entrée I had the Rainforest Roll, salmon nigiri and salmon roe nigiri. The Rainforest Roll was pretty good. Salmon roe didn’t particularly taste the freshest.

Love the one in downtown so when I learned they expanded into The Woodlands I was happy. I keep returning here bc of the top notch customer service & great food! I love how fresh the fish is in the sushi and sashimi. I’ve had great services at both locations I’ve frequented. On one occasion in the downtown location I had a bad experience and the manager there went out of his way to contact me & revert my bad experience & turned it into a great one, it was a nice gesture and truly appreciated. TBF in The Woodlands area is wonderful with the same modern décor, nice patio overlooking the water, and same great menu and awesome happy hour! I’m really happy we have this great Japanese restaurant in our neck of the woods now, great addition to all the other great restaurant in the Hughes Landing area.

Love Blue Fish for roll creativity and keeping it south of insane in the price per ounce of fish department. Vibe is ultra hip.

Having just moved up to The Woodlands from the city, I was not expecting to find many great restaurants. This was my first experience at Blue Fish; my wife and I loved it! The Volcano roll was a little heavy on the sauce, but it had some of the best scallops I’ve ever had. The Ahi Tower was also excellent. My sushi was also excellent, but I forget the name of what I ordered. The one strange thing to note is the membership program. You pay $ 25 upfront and then receive it back on your next visit. I can see why they do it, but I’ve never had a restaurant charge me that much for a program. We’ll be back, though, and take advantage of the $ 25 credit. The weather was perfect for eating outside.

Wasn’t terribly impressed by this place. It was loud, cramped and the service was mediocre. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t «award winning» like they boast. Everything was overly seasoned to the point of being almost too rich to eat. The atmosphere was precociously hip, and the high school aged staff was unprofessional. In an area like The Woodlands, you’ve got plenty of better alternatives for sushi and rolls.

Great martinis!!! First time. .. Enjoyed the outdoor patio and the service was pretty good as well. I am on a low carb eating regimen so I ordered the Chilean sea bass(fantastic) and the Kobe sizzler. My colleagues ordered sashimi and two ahi towers which looked great but I could not eat the tower because of the rice(not carb friendly). Headed back to the restaurant for a business dinner this week and I am looking forward to it. I recommend Blue Fish.
