The wine was mediocre. The staff was so-son the friendly scale. Wouldn’t go back but it was okay.

Very beautiful winery and wine to match! The service was stellar! Erika and Paul are one of a kind! They were knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. One more reason for us to go back. The llamas on the property were a very cool addition to the wine tasting experience as you can take your wine and walk over to them and feed them with apples that are provided by the wine experts. A must visit if ever in the area.

After a week spent doing nothing but wine touring in the Central Coast, I can honestly say that Wild Horse ranks near the absolute top of our experiences. It was a lucky first stop in the Paso area and one we chose randomly without prior recommendation. A gorgeous setting and a delightful tasting experience with some absolutely superb estate wines. The friendliest staff and some top tier wines made this a winner all around. We learned about the wine varietals grown on the property(many sold to other wine makers in the region), the llama stories(Floyd was the original and is the image on the rose bottle– hence the Pink Floyd reference), and each got to sample from their extensive tasting selections. The Blaufrankisch is not something you’ll see anywhere else and is fabulous. Described as luscious with soft tannins this really is a great one to take when invited out to dinner. You WILL impress! The Pinot was superb and the reserve cab was among the best wines I tasted in many weeks. I had not planned to buy wine at this initial stop but after one taste of that cab? Gotta have more! The highlight of the wines for me was their Cheval Sauvage, a Pinot that is their hallmark. To say this is delicious is to do it such a disservice it’s almost embarrassing. At $ 65 a bottle I was a bit surprised we were able to taste it but wow, I’ve been dreaming of this wine ever since we left. I want more. Be warned, if you taste it, your wallet will be lighter. But oh my. So worth it. Couldn’t recommend Wild Horse any more highly. You owe it to yourself to get here. Soon.

By far the BEST choice of Winery in last couple years! Headed out today wanting to try new places with wonderful friends from Northern Cal… Was referred to Wild Horse… Everything about our visit was superior including the gentlemen Paul who took the time to walk our group through tasting… Every wine he poured was exceptional… Paul not only was attentive to everyone wanting something different but also very knowledgeable… So, for great wine and best hospitality go to Wild Horse and ask for our new friend Paul…

Really good reds and pinot noirs. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who promote a good wine tasting experience. Feed the animals, taste the wine, and enjoy one of Paso’s truest forms of wineries. Please note that while the pinots are fantastic, they are grown outside of the region and shipped in. That said, they are freaking delicious and I highly recommend trying the other wines(reds especially).

This is a smaller quaint vineyard with a friendly staff. Known for their reds, especially Pinot Noir, there are a few not to be overlooked. A varietal I much enjoyed was one I’d never heard of called Blaufrankisch. Do not pass this one up! If whites are more your thing, their Viognier is quite tasty. As an added bonus, Wild Horse is part of a group of wineries which allow you to utilize your Wine Club Discount. Check with the staff to see if your wine club discount will apply here. And let’s not forget the star of Wild Horse Vineyards, Floyd! Take a gander out back and see if he’s around. A wonderful treat!

We’ve been members of this winery for years(other winery memberships have come and gone during this time) and LOVE the wine. They really treat their members well, and we absolutely love the Unbridled wines we get in our shipments. The 2011 Pinot Noir remains my favorite of all time. Floyd is always special, too.(Well, quite frankly, all of their wines are amazing – they don’t put them out there unless they are. Unlike other wineries who shall remain nameless.) My(then) boyfriend and I found this vineyard while riding our motorcycles through the valley. We immediately loved the winery, both for the wines as well as the people. We became members immediately, and of course, loaded up with all sorts of wines and goodies(shirts, etc). Our motorcycle bags were overfilled with different wines. It was hilarious. We went back as often as we could(1 – 3 times a year) and celebrated when wine shipments arrived at our house. No matter how much time had passed, they always remembered us and welcomed us like family. Last week, we decided to get married, and we wanted to do it quickly because he was set to begin a job overseas. We didn’t want to just run to Vegas – we wanted somewhere special. So, we chose the Wild Horse. We drove 3 ½ hours each way, and it was more than worth it. They made our day SUPER special – Leslie actually went and registered to be our officiant(how cool is THAT?) and Erika was our photographer. Leslie presented us with a very special wine(Cheval Sauvage Pinot Noir) signed by all of the Wild Horse staff as a wedding gift. You can find Wild Horse wines at Costco now(that was an awesome find!) and at fine wine stores. It’s not as much fun as going to the winery, but at least you can get your fix. LOL(I haven’t seen the Unbridled wines in stores, though…) So, this winery is not only a high-quality winery, producing some of the best wines in the world – it is filled with the best people, too.

Some of the best wines in the world comes from this vineyard. Try their full bodied pinot noir. They have also souvenir items you can purchase. I wish they have more sizes of the shirts and red color for the ladies sizes. Vineyards are nice but I wish they have like a viewing room overlooking the vineyards.

September is California Wine Month. Yes, they will make any excuse to open a good bottle of wine, won’t they? California winemaking is big business. Although California is represented by 50% of the bonded wineries in the U.S., production and sales account for 90% of all sales in the U.S. California wine shipments within the U.S. were 215 million cases in 2013(up 3% from the previous year), with an estimated retail value of $ 23.1 billion(up 5%). California wine sales to all markets, both domestic and international, increased 3% by volume to 258 million cases in 2013. This week we visit the Wild Horse Winery of Paso Robles, named after the galloping horse, the school mascot of San Luis Obispo College, and the wild mustangs that roamed freely in the area in the early 1980’s. The pinot noir that winemaker Chrissy Whittmann produces is some of the best juice being produced out the central coast of California. I met Ms. Whittmann at a recent wine tasting in Montecito. She is just one of a handful of women wine makers in the industry, although with any luck this will be an emerging trend. Remember the movie«Sideways»? The movie gets a lot of credit for pinot’s rapid growth, but in reality pinot sales have been growing for years, and this is just from winemakers figuring out how to grow this«tricky» grape. The 2011 Pinot Noir has aromas and flavors of black cherry, pomegranate, and cranberries. Sometimes that combination(too much young fruit) can throw this reviewer off, but while this wine has a brave aroma, it ends with a lush, delicious finish. French oak aging gives the wine structure and depth. Made from 100% pinot noir, enjoy it with salmon or roasted pork loin. This is a step above a «picnic» wine. Unilocal me!

First, the wines are good. Second, I left my purse there and drove back to Los Angeles. The friendly pourer who we called agreed to overnight it to us through the mail, and did.(If you guys are reading this, I promise I will pay you back.) That’s world-class customer service.

Came here while passing through Paso Robles. The tasting guy was great. I enjoyed their Unbridled Pinot so much I bought a bottle. Just popped it open the other night and I really should have bought more. It’s so tasty! The tasting room is fairly small and being off season, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Prices are reasonable and they let us feed their llama! So cool. Definitely worth a stop in, for sure!

2012 Chardonnay — Flavors experienced were green apple, citrus, and smooth with a touch of sourness. Possible food pairings would be aged cheese, citrus-marinated chicken, and grilled salmon. Thumbs up! 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon — Aromatic experienced was red berries. The Cabernet was very subtle with no particular highlights in flavor. Possible food pairings would be steak or pasta with marinara sauce. 2011 Merlot — Flavors experienced were blackberry, raspberry, and cherry with slight bitterness. Possible food pairings would be pasta with spicy marinara, short ribs, and grilled lamb.

Great winery off the beaten path! If you love Pinot Noir you must go to this place! It is a bit off the normal path to get to, but totally worth the drive. My fiancé and I came here on our way back to the bay area, it was totally worth the trip, it was fairly dead for a Saturday. We practically had the place to ourselves. Our tasting room attendant(according to my Google search that is the proper name), Josh, was very knowledgeable, fun to talk to, and was open to try show us all sorts of different wines. They had 4 Pinots, 6+ red, and 6+ whites, as well as some older vintages that are still around. I felt they do both reds and whites VERYWELL. I especially enjoyed the Pinots. We purchased a 2008 Zin that they had on special, I am very excited to crack it open! They even have llamas on the premises which is a bonus(they do not feed them lasagna, unfortunately)

I had gone to a dinner with a friend and they had just come up from Wild Horse with their allocation. They cracked open their Merlot and it went fairly well with the contemporary American meal we were having. Now I know jack squat about Paso Robles wineries, but I know I enjoyed this wine. Enough said.
