I love the new design. You did wonders to an old store. Great improvement. Love the quality of meat I buy here.

Many years ago, they matched the ad prices of all the local grocers, and I was able to afford to shop here all the time. These days, my budget doesn’t allow me that luxury. Love the cleanliness of the store, despite the older location. Employees have a great work ethic. The meat department is wonderful. My latest discovery is the made in-house brats, and I will be returning here frequently this summer for the jalapeño ones! Everything I look for at a grocery store, plus big bonus points for being locally-owned.

This was the first grocery store I frequently when I first moved to Salt Lake 20 years ago now and it has changed appreciably little in that time. There is now a push for the salad bar and the cheese area and an upgrade to the deli are, with seating and so on, but it is relatively unchanged from that. It has always been super-clean, spectacularly so, selection is mostly better than other nearby places, particularly in meats, but their store brand is a definite miss. This one does not have anywhere near the«health» food section of the one on 3300 S. and 1300 E., but it’s enough to be respectable. Prices are still to the point where I’d be hard pressed to make it my regular grocery and they still have the annoying counters that you have to shove the cart right against and they unload while ringing up. Layout can also frequently be quite annoying. Location here is convenient, if you need I-215 and this does in a pinch, but unless I happen to be in the area and further happen to need something expedient inside, I rarely venture in anymore. It’s a nice grocery store, as those go and I’m glad it’s around, but it’s of little use in a daily sense.

This is a great location, very clean. They try to be helpful, but when workers walk by customers it would be nice if they acknowledged them, and maybe asked if they needed help. They are a bit pricier, but a good store otherwise.

A great neighborhood Harmon’s. One of the few that have not been remodeled but still offering quality groceries. A great location for a small but good selection of organic items if you are on the west side of the valley. One of the standouts is the cheese selection. Great and friendly cheesemongers, say hi to Fou if you happen to be browsing the cheese selection. He won’t lead you astray. Local and imported. They offer different produce and exotic fruits from time to time. All in all they live up to their tagline.

I don’t hate Harmon’s…it’s just that, I have had much better. Customer service is consistently great but I basically shop here out of proximity to my home. I recently purchsed fish for dinner(same day). It was Barramundi which is a mild, white fish. After taking it home, it had a fishy odor(duh, it’s fish), however, not the correct salt water smell. We cooked it on the grill to hopefully impart some flavor and see what we got. I believe it was rotten as I have never had something so foul tasting. Needless to say, it was a waste of $$ and if I wasn’t skeptical enough about the seafood dept. I will certainly be steering clear from it from now on. The store itself is nice, bright and clean… produce is hit and miss and the organic, health food section is very overpriced. I will always come for staples or a quick trip out of convenience. Meat is fine but beware of the seafood.

In the face of all the sexier, newer Harmons stores it would be easy to disregard this store. But that would be a mistake. Sure, it may not have all the new hotness that the Draper store has, or even the new Emigration Market location(I mean by rumor; I haven’t been there myself) but this store certainly hasn’t been forgotten. A few years back they gave this store a pretty thorough remodel and you can definitely tell they care about it. Where else are you going to find a cheese selection like this one in this part of the valley? Well, actually I don’t know the answer to that. Because I’ve never had to look. I can just rely on this Harmons for my cheese needs. And bakery, and pretty much any other basic but above average grocery need. I’m not a fan of the location, physically-speaking. While I’m not often in Taylorsville, this little section of Redwood Road does drive me a little bit batty. Family Center, Walmart, all the strip-mallage from 215 north is a little nauseating. And when it’s not your hood, you tend to forget which little strip mall hosts what stores. Harmons is a breeze to find, but wiggling through parking lots and traffic is so-so. Not their fault so I’d still make this my go-to shop if there weren’t another Harmons closer.

This Harmon’s is an older store but has been remodeled both inside and out. As far as supermarkets are concerned I think Harmon’s reigns supreme. They have a great inventory of products, good imported cheeses, fresh baked artisan breads, and a great meat and deli. Harmon’s stores are always clean, well-stocked, and well-organized. Employees are friendly, eager to help, and actually seem to enjoy working at Harmon’s – a sign that Harmon’s takes care of their employees. My one criticism of Harmon’s is their prices, sometimes they can be a little pricer than other stores but otherwise Harmon’s is great.

Normally I like Harmon’s, especially the one on 700 East in Midvale. I investigated having Harmon’s cook most of my Thanksgiving meal. What a horrible disaster that turned out to be. Beforehand, I quizzed the staff at the Deli counter about the freshness, temperature and presentation of the turkey, and other items. I was told that each meal is timed perfectly to be ready for pickup within a ½ hour period, coming out of the oven piping hot and beautiful, ready to put in serving dishes and put on the table. WOW! What a total disappointment to arrive at the store at my appointed time(11:30 am) and discover dozens of turkeys in boxes, some labeled to be picked up as late at 1:30 pm all stacked in the back corner of the deli area. And, stacked along with all the cooling turkeys were the other dishes for dozens of meal packages. My order was not even assembled as promised, the turkey they tried to pawn off on me was the smaller turkey and I had paid for the larger one(they were offered in two size ranges). The turkey I ended up with was room temperature and the skin beneath the plastic bag was a pale, greasy white-ish blond color. Not the least bit presentable. I figured I had a little time when I got home to put it in the oven and warm and brown it so I took it — I HAD to, what else was I going to do! All the other turkeys were cold and ugly too. The side dishes were all a disaster! The mashed potatoes were not firm and they were cold as well — even though the staff had to go to the kitchen to get them for me when I arrived. Same for the gravy and yams. And the taste — O MYGOSH ! What awful tasteless paste everything was! The mashed potatoes would have been better if they were instant! I had to salt, pepper, butter ANDHEAT them just to make them palatable. The gravy was nothing more than watery, bland, corn starch with a brownish color and some turkey shavings in it. I had to put it in a pot to heat and season as well. At least the gravy LOOKED good. The yams were just incredibly underdone. Pushing a fork into these greasy little orange cubes felt like pushing a fork into a raw apple. I was fit to be tied! I had to put the yams in the oven and totally cook them. What the hell did I spend $ 130 for? The turkey had to be reheated and then browned with the broiler — and, they had stuffed with turkey with potatoes so the meat had a pasty, starchy flavor that the gravy didn’t do much good masking. Thankfully, the meal worked(but it wasn’t great), but only after I spent an hour of rushed, frantic reheating and cooking to get it presentable for guests. I will never, ever do that again! And I simply won’t ever believe those nice ladies at the deli counter again either. They didn’t seem to have clue #1 when I arrived to pick up my meal. They were holding their hand limp in front of their chest and looking around like bewildered hens trying to put together my order. Ugh! And, I will continue to buy groceries at Harmon’s(to cook myself).
