This review is for Zankou Chicken AND Best . We eat pretty early at our work place. Zankou doesn’t open until 11:00. So, I figured 11:15, was kind of pushing it. And the person that confirmed my order said I would probably see it more like 11:30. 11:20 the food was in our office. As usual the food was great. I just wish that for 2 whole chickens more than 3 pita breads were packed. I think they used to give pickled radishes, chilis and onions with the orders. The economy must be the culprit on that tho. Thumbs up!

Their chicken is very good because of that deelicious garlic dip that comes with it. Their shawarma and meals are good too but the prices have been going up and portions are getting less.

I decided to give this place another try and have lunch here yesterday. I order the half chicken plate with hummus and salad. First off I went to fill up on my soft drink and the Coke was all water down so I then tried the other choices and they all seem to be water down. The fountain machine was very dirty. I ended up asking for water & let the staff working there know the drinks were no good. I sat down to eat my chicken plate and I was not too happy with my chicken. It was on the dry side. The salad came with no dressing. The hummus was probably the only thing decent on my plate. So much for giving it a second chance. I won’t be coming back here again.

When looking for Mediterranean food on the south side of the valley Zankou meets the criteria but doesn’t really do much more than that. I will usually get the chicken kabob plate, the chicken occasionally comes out juicy but often times is dry. The hummus and rice are great and if you add in the garlic sauce which I am sure just about every Unilocaler has already mentioned, then it can make even the most dry chicken taste delicious. There are other options as well like the shawarma or the beef kabobs, they tend to be better tasting but obviously a little more calorie dense. The location is ok, it is in a large shopping center and parking is not always the easiest to get but that really depends not he time you come to eat. Overall I’m giving it a 3/5, not so much because I dislike it but rather because I think there are better options out there if you are trying to get your Mediterranean fix

Every single time there has been something wrong with my order. This was the last straw after 6 years living in Tarzana. Why the eff is there a hair longer than my own in my effing food?! Seriously? Howwwww!!! So gross, bro. Sadly this has ruined my love for Zankou. #everybodymakesgarlicbutter #sorrybro #not

Um… can i live there!!! So damn delicious!!! I ordered a half chicken with garlic sauce and pita bread but with the rice. I did the happy dance the first time I went. Been there three times and I can’t wait to go back there and get double the order. Customer service is always friendly and fast. Great place for all to enjoy!

We ordered an assortment of items to supplement a holiday dinner. The roasted chicken was the main dish, but we added pita, hummus, rice, and felafel. The hummus was excellent. That’s the top news of the day. The chicken was a little bland, though I mostly have no issue with that. The felafel was only okay, and the rice was good, but it was rice. I think I’d like to try eating here to get the food into my gullet while it’s still hot. We waited a while before digging in even after we got the items home. So, we’ll stick it with a 3-star for now, with room for upward mobility. Hah.

Love this place! People! You need to order the right food! Get the rotisserie chicken and ask it to be well done! That’s the trick! You wonttttt be disappointed! The best chicken ever!

Delicious. Ordered four chicken wraps with hummus. So good. You think they’re small but they are so filling.

The one in Pasadena is much better but since it’s so far away this branch will do when I need my Zankou fix. The interior is really nice and clean but parking can be a pain since there are so many shops in this plaza the spaces fill up quickly. Chicken Tarna plate, extra garlic butter, and a large iced tea always hits the spot when I’m hungry. You’ll have extra food for later and it heats up nicely in the microwave. They ran out of rotisserie chicken the last time I came which confused me because it’s a chicken place without chicken.

– Maybe a new low in fast food places. Even with a small menu, they were out of standard menu items — such as fries, and standard mediterranean fare. There was no ice. Having driven there we decided to try some wraps — just should have walked out — they were pretty bad — threw half of it away. Ingredients seemed old — pita was tough(reheated?). The only redeeming feature was the garlic sauce. Zank you very little.

The chicken is not juicy but not dry either. The beef is a little chewy. The hummus is amazing. The meat comes on cooked cabbage which is tasty. All in all its just average so 3.5 would be more accurate.

I’ve gone to this location many times. Yesterday, I went again with my family. The shawarma tasted undone with no flavor. All there pickle, onions & other condiments smell OLD and definitely NOT fresh . The chicken was also disgusting. Very greasy and smelled horrible. I had an upset stomach for over 24 hours. «NEVERAGAINZANKOU»

First time for me eating at this type of concept. We all have our favorites spots that we frequently eat at. I was very happy with the chicken, rice, pita, roasted tomato and the garlic spread that was recommended by a Unilocaler. Very good. Thanks for the tip. A couple of issues, one was they where out of Ice for their beverages. We all know that in the Valley its hot. No urgency from the employees to get ice from somewhere or even get it from another location. I know there’s one in Granada Hills. So I was surprised. So with that in mind inform your customers that you are out of Ice and if your allowed offer them a discount for their beverage. A room temperature is not a good taste. The female employees really didn’t seem like it was a big matter. It is when its hot outside and you want a nice cold beverage to with your meal. The other was issue was there was only two employees working. So really, your cutting service. Must provide the tools necessary and staff your locations according to your busy times. So there was a long wait.21 minutes for a order of two plates. Too long of a wait for two meals. The food was good tho, but the service and urgency from the employee to react to the situation to an item being out is unacceptable. Give them the tools to call someone, a supervisor, area manager or even someone who can go get Ice from somewhere. Many resources to be able to get it. 2015 Unilocal Challenge.112/100

Poor service and poor quality food. I’ve seen Zankou locations plenty of times but I’ve never eaten at one, so I decided to stop by for a quick bite after a long run by the beach. I walked in and the young woman at the register looked like she wanted to be anywhere else but work. When I walked up she didn’t smile or greet me, just asked«What can I get for you?» I shrugged it off and just assumed she was having a bad day. I ordered one of their chicken wraps to go. I sat down with my number after ordering and didn’t have to wait long. One of cooks walked up to the hand off counter, set a to-go bag on the counter, nodded his head to me, and walked away. Didn’t call my number, didn’t confirm that the order was right, just walked away. So obviously the service was less than stellar but I was hungry and took my order straight home to enjoy. Unfortunately, the food was as disappointing as the service. The wrap had three ingredients: chicken, tomatoes, and this thick sour cream like spread that tasted nothing like anything I’ve had on Mediterranean food. The combination was awful. I picked some of the chicken out but couldn’t bring myself to eat most of it, so I sadly threw it away which I really hate doing but I couldn’t eat it. I’m hoping not all Zankou locations are like this… maybe I’ll try another when I’m feeling brave enough after this experience.

I really only seek out Zankou when I want to eat something different. The quality and taste is really not all that. If they didn’t have good falafel or that garlic spread, I would not bother to come back. The chicken is usually dry, the shawarma has an odd cinnamon flavor I can’t stand and is also usually all dried out, not worth it. Service is nice, but super slow, the store also not a place you want to sit and hang out for awhile. OK, but not worth going out of my way for.

Though the chicken was a bit dry and over-cooked, it had great flavoring and mixed well with the rice. The tomato was cooked well and overall the food portion was large. Very good hummus and pita. Wish I could pick a side other than the salad because I’m not a fan of their turnip salad. In the«fast-casual» food arena(i.e. Chipotle and Panera), Zankou does a very good job of providing fresh and speedy Mediterranean fare. It’s not sit-down restaurant quality, but it’s good at what it’s supposed to be.

This location was in a big strip mall off Ventura Blvd and even though was empty the night I went, I know what to expect going to Zankou. Yes, they offer different kinds of fare, but my «go to» is their rotisserie chicken with garlic sauce and pita bread. The lady who took my order was nice enough to give me extra spread at no charge, but mistakenly forgot my pickled veggies. It wasn’t a big deal, but just missed munching on those pickles as I chowed down on the chicken, sauce, and pita bread. Zankou will always have a loyal customer in me.
