This was hands down the best indian food in L.A., and I swear I’ve tried them all. If anyone knows if they are reopening in another location, please post it!!! Roni, the waitress was so sweet, the flavor was complex and delicious, spicy but never numbing, and ever consistent. This was my my and my husbands Friday lunch tradition for years, and last week we were greeted by the locked door :(It’s like we were stabbed in the heart. It is the end of an era.

I love Indian food and this place hit the spot. It’s really unfortunate that more people don’t give Indian food a try and most Indian restaurants are quite empty. The samosas here were amazing!

Warning — They were evicted and this business is now CLOSED. I found out sadly about a week ago. I never got to give this place a proper 5 star rating so I am doing it now. This was one of the first good Indian restaurants in LA and was in it’s location for about 20 years, it will be sadly missed.

I’m so sad to say that India’s Tandoori is no longer in business. We went this evening, and saw an eviction notice on the door, accompanied by a note requesting that former customers«join us at Taj Mahal of India in Encino». It’s a sad day for LA. India’s Tandoori was the best I’ve had.

This was a great place for dinner. I don’t understand why so few people were there when I was. The restaurant next door was booming, and there were maybe four of us in India’s Tandoori. I liked the extensive menu choices, including plenty of vegan-friendly dishes. The«combination» item my boyfriend and I ordered was plenty for two people — we were both very full and didn’t quite finish everything! The staff were all extremely friendly! I’d love to try more of the dishes.

I stumbled upon this ppace last night and was pleasantly surprised. Good food, reasonably priced, albeit in a rather stale environment.

I’ve been here a few times now; using the discount that’s available. For the price and amount of food you get; I’m content and will probably be back. Last time I was there, I wanted to order a bottle of wine, they only had two in stock but their wine list is fairly long and extensive. That didn’t really make sense to me, it could be that most people don’t order wine with Indian food, but I did. The food is good, quality is high, and flavors are good. I recommend the chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken is good, vegetable rice, and the potato samosas. Yummy, I love Indian food!

This place has a very good menu with a lot of choises for everyone that like to eat Indian cuisine. The drawback is when you look at the prices and the portions that come out on the plates once the food has arrived to your table. We had some samosas, tandori chicken, lamb korma and several vegiterian dishes. The food was good, but you had to pay for naan bread. In most place, regular naan bread is complementary even before you order food but here they charge you for it. The service was good and they took care of us(my girl and I). If you Indian lunch buffet when going out for Inidan food, then this place is not for you.

This is clearly a restaurant for locals. Lots of families and couples. The food here is mediocre and lacking flavor. I think that’s one of the reasons I saw so many families here– the food tastes fine to young kids! I had Chicken Tikka Marsala with medium heat. There was almost NO flavor or spicy heat to the abundant sauce the chicken pieces were drowning in! Also lacking flavor was the Garlic Nan. On the good side, the food is fresh, served soon after ordering, and the portions are large. Overall a disappointment though. I expected food that was flavorful but was served bland chicken in a thick, flavorless, orange-red sauce.

I finally found a great Indian restaurant in the Valley, thanks to Unilocal(hanhie in particular). Service is friendly and attentive. Portions are huge. The raita is chunky, almost like a salad, or soup – I can it eat by itself. Bengan Bertha(eggplant): perfect texture and taste! Navrattan Korma(Veggie Korma): my favorite shade(for korma), just the right amount of creaminess, though maybe a bit too many sliced cucumbers(?). Potato samosas(not greasy at all):I think I like them greasier, but still good. Chicken Biryani: the flavors danced around in my mouth like Fred Astaire. Garlic Naan: crispy yet soft, and very garlicky. The flavors were distinctive in each dish. Go ahead and order it spicy – unless you have stomach problems – because their spicy is just perfect(that is, not too spicy) whereas the medium spicy doesn’t pack enough punch. It’s not the hippest place in the neighborhood; maybe a little too big and air-conditioned for its own good. But it’s the valley, so you can’t ask for too much.

I read all these semi-bad Unilocal reviews on how this place has gone downhill over the years and it had me a little weary. This place must of tasted like HEAVEN a few years ago because I thought the food here was delicious! The samosas was very potato-y and delicious! They give you two and they were about the size of my palms. The chicken tikka masala was so tasty! I got it spicy and I’d say it had a little kick to it but not that spicy. The sauce had alot of flavor to it and tasted just perfect with the naan. I was already getting pretty full before the food even came out because of all the naans and the samosas! I only ate a little more than half of it and took the rest to-go. The portions are big! I came here with some close-minded eaters who were really freaked out to be eating Indian food. I’m talking about people who thought«ew» to lamb, curry sauce & spice. They all left very happy and all enjoyed their food. Well one person was suffering a little because even the mild was too hot, but she still liked it. chicken+curry+naan+rice = yummy goodness.

Me and my husband were in the neighborhood and craving some serious Indian Cuisine! Thanks to Unilocal and its reviews we decided to check this place out and let me tell you we were not at all disappoitned! They had great not to mention cheap lunch specials… The lunch special plate was massive, great portions for a great price! I ordered my usual chicken tikka masala mild and it was yummy! I should’ve ordered it medium tho cus it could’ve been a bit spicier but it was my first time there so I wasn’t sure how spicy a mild would be, but still this did not take away from the food it was delicious! The place was a lil cheap looking inside but the service and food were great so that totally made up for it so I couldn’t knock a star off for that!

It’s just OK!!! I doubt that the owners are even from India-the food is probably more like the other parts of the Indian sub-continent. The service I agree is variable. Décor is OK, food is just OK. I didn’t find it impressive at all to return there. And to reply to the Unilocaler who made a generalized statement about people who ignore women in India-again it’s probably true in other parts of the Indian Sub-continet but certainly very incorrect for India itself. It’s probably the only country in the whole world where men stand up and offer their seats in a bus/train to women even today! But yes, that does happen in this restaurant with some waiters.

In case anyone out there is concerned, I want to put you at ease. The food here is still super good! We always seem to take new people here and they always really enjoy it. Thanks India’s Tandoori for being consistently good and consistently friendly!

After promising a friend Indian lunch, I trekked ALL the way to the valley, TARZANA, to be exact, leaving the LA bubble I so comfortably know. But hey, a promise is promise, right? ;-) I ordered the Lamb Vindaloo @ $ 7.95& my friend got the Lamb Curry, also $ 7.95. Within a moment of placing our order, a full basket of fresh & warm naan was placed on our table, which is included with the lunch, along with Daal(bean & lentil stew), Vegetable Biryani(rice with mixed vegetables), Salad and Raita(yogurt.) In addition to the excellent prices, the food was not only authentic, which I find to be few & far between, it was AMAZINGLYDELICIOUS& the portions were HUGE! While the food is fantastic, I do however recommend an update to the décor. The interior is outdated & doesn’t reflect the quality of this establishment, but on the flip side, I’ve been to many restaurants that put most of the effort in decorum but lack in the food department. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend checking this place out. Lunch specials are Mon-Fri 11AM-3PM. I’m not sure if lunch specials are available on weekends, but the menu offered a Sunday champagne brunch for around 10 bucks. Oh, & if you have the time, there is a charming Sri Lankan store that sells a variety of exotic food, spices & little trinkets. It’s worth checking out.

India’s Tandoori, in my opinion is the best Indian restaurant in the Valley. The food is hearty and the portions are just right. The food preparation is fast and presentation is picture-worthy. Of the two times I have visited this place, it has not been crowded. The lunch special is dirt-cheap and includes all the typical Indian fixin’s(naan, yogurt, tea etc) you would expect from a Zagat rated restaurant. Although the décor is a bit ghetto the friendly staff makes up for it. Very affordable. Very yummy. Good for a first date.

After a long day of shopping with my best friend yesterday, we played that«what are having for dinner game.» The first thing I threw out was Indian and it was accepted by her family. Her husband called in the order and we went to pick up our chicken korma, shrimp saag, naan and rice. The order came out to $ 35 which I thought was a little expensive until I saw the portions. The curries were in quart containers as was the rice. There may not have been enough rice for three adults and two small children. The naan was one really large piece but also not enough for the five of us. I enjoyed the korma but thought the chicken was somewhat odd. Sysco chicken? Hm. But it was all white meat as requested. My favorite thing is shrimp saag and this was quite good. There was lots of saag, yes but also lots of shrimp! We weren’t fighting over the shrimp and it was very fresh. India’s Tandoori is located in the corner of a L-shaped strip mall next to a Thai and popular Japanese restaurants. I have to note walking into that corner was kind of creepy though. They need to put some lights out there! My best friend says there’s another place that’s better around her and there probably are as there’s a gazillion Indian places on Ventura but I wasn’t unhappy we got food from here as I discovered a wonderful Sri Lankan grocery in the same shopping center, Sri Lankan Delight.

I’ve had a lot of Indian food, but over the 8 years I’ve been going to this place it is still #1 in my book! Over the years they have got to know us, and can practically predict our order. Typically we get the tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, some naan and rice. We always get it spicy. The tikka masala is well balanced between all the spices and that hint of sweetness. Being Italian I’ve always felt a good tika masala or curry is very much like a good marinara, you may like it because of personal preference, childhood memories, or it is just damn good. This for me falls into it is just damn good! The vindaloo is less spicy and less tomato based than most I’ve had elsewhere, but it is tasty as well. The service has always been pleasant. One note that the lunch specials are not available on Saturday.

They could have an argument for a 4.5 or 5 if their damn benches weren’t so rock solid. No, I’m kidding, as you now know. I don’t take off points for things like seating, service, décor, bathrooms, ease in understand my order, distance, lines, or even smell/cleanliness. I’m serious. The only thing I review, the only thing that’s I want to see reviewed is the food and the amount of money or bartered item i gave in exchange for it. Winner winner chicken dinner and/or lunch. Lunch is cheap as balls. Lentil/spinach/cheese goo had just enough grainy texture to avoid being yolked into the custardy category. Take Chicken tikka and chicken tikka masalzzzzzzzzzy & wedge between a fresh baked naan of your business, dipped into the sauce medley provided per table to delight the senses and the buds of taste. So yes. Their food gets four whole stars of food goodness or(for you idiots out there) dankness. Their buds can roll with your buds, and if you really want to talk about more than just food, these folks will be, your buds.
