We came to the Station Grill to celebrate Unilocal Elite Jaime’s birthday on a Thursday within 3 months of the restaurant’s opening. Station Grill had a lot of great Thursday specials including $ 2 draft brews, $ 3 glasses of wines, $ 5 burgers, Tito’s promo girls giving free shots, and 97X promo girls giving away free concert tickets to the Next Big Thing. Since we arrived early before the place got too busy and 97X was drawing names every half hour, 3 people in our group won 2 concert tickets each to the Next Big Thing! Station Grill was seriously understaffed with just one bartender and one server. There were more promo people in attendance than actual people working there! Talk about low over-head! Lol Management definitely needs to staff at least 2 bartenders and 3 or 4 servers. Service was so painfully slow that many of us just walked away from our table to get a drink from the bar because that was faster. It took a half hour just to get our order in and another half to get our food. All the promo people in attendance made-up for our bad service. The Tito’s promo girls gave everyone at our table a complimentary mixed drink which was nice! Tina and I got the Tito’s Margarita affectionately dubbed the TitoRita, Boon got the White Russian, Kali got the Vodka Soda, and the birthday girl’s drink got lost in the shuffle somehow. Station Grill’s Margaritas are quite tasty. Our waitress ended up bringing out Jamie’s drink after the food finally. Most of the people in our party ordered the $ 5 bacon cheeseburgers with sweet potato waffle fries and they were pretty good. Alicia got the grouper cheeks and said that it came out over-fried so I’d avoid that one. I wasn’t starving so the long wait for food didn’t bother me and I fixed the drink problem by walking over to the bar. Station Grill’s did a great job renovating the restaurant with a huge wrap-around inside bar, a wrap around outside bar, a patio, exposed air-conditioning ducts to give the place an industrial vibe, darts, pictures of historic railroads, historic trains, and historic Tampa buildings. There are plenty of TV’s here for watching the game! There is plenty of parking available in a private on-site parking lot. I was a wee bit hesitant to review Station Grill because it changes owners and names at least 3 or 4 times in the last couple of years. While this may still be a late night University of Tampa party spot, it has now been transformed into a more mature nice place for lunch and dinner as well. Hopefully this place will stay in business and they can fix their staffing issues. The staff they did have was great. Station Grill is located off Cass just 1 block from the University of Tampa and 1 block from government housing projects, and 3 blocks from the slowly gentrifying NoHo, North of Howard area, where Vintage Lofts, Noho Townhomes, and Noho Flats is located. Look forward to visiting again soon!

Menu has changed and not much of a restaurant. What was posted as food photos on Unilocal 5 months ago doesn’t exist. Mostly a bar for the UT college crowd social events. Food is what u expect for a small kitchen in a bar. The food we ordered seemed like frozen processes food heated up. Probably tastes good after several of their PBRs.

Was looking forward to trying this place, came on Tuesday 1⁄19 at 5:15pm and they’re closed. According to their hours on Google and Unilocal they should be open. If your hours change you need to reach out to these reference sites and change them, especially when your restaurant is relatively new and people use these sites to figure out if and when they should go. Even the restaurant’s own website says they’re open from 1130 – 3!

I was looking forward to trying this place out. I heard the food was good and it’s close to our house. Unfortunately, we didn’t even get to the food because the service is HORRIBLE! I went there on a Thursday night and there was maybe 10 people there eating and drinking. We sat outside and waited 15 mins and not one person bothered to even come by the table. So I went to the bar to grab menus and even told the bar tender where we were sitting. We looked thru the menu and we’re ready to order, but still no one ever came by our table. 10 more minutes passed and we just decided to get up and leave. Waste of 25 mins and I doubt I’ll ever be back.

Used to be a crappy run down bar on Cass St. Now a much better establishment. Drinks are tasty and the beer selection is good. Many TVs if you’re looking to watch football. Heard the food is good, but yet to try! Overall a good place to relax and have a drink.

We were here to have the celebration of the birthday of a Unilocal friend. There are unique theme like steam engine, conductor, train depot, tanker car, on the track, boxcar. At least they use this theme in the food menu. When we arrived, the 97X radio holding a promotion there and give away the concert ticket. Then there is a promotion from the Tito Vodka to give up shot in the beginning. Then Tito Vodka came over to our table to buy a round of drinks for everyone in the table. Thank you for such a generous gift. Back to the restaurant and bar. The food was put in the order and our drink was not deliver for some time. I mean a long time. We realize this place don’t have enough help to serve the table. Soon we realize the waitress probably serve the food and help on the kitchen to get our food in order. I would said the service is bad but for the situation we saw, cannot blame on this condition. It is the miss management to be blame. I hope they get their act together.

Went here for a friends birthday celebration. They were very under staffed. Our server told us she was the only one working inside and had multiple tables to take care of which caused our drinks and food to take a very long time to arrive. They had a $ 5 burger special and the burger was decent. Not the best and not the worst. Management needs to pay closer attention to staffing needs. Other than that, it was a cute lively place and we had a good time.

The station Grill on Cass Street Tampa Florida is one of those eklectic places that are great to hang out with friends, family, have a quiet drink by yourself, just meeting others or interacting with one of their super bartenders, Caitie. Caitie makes every night fun and interactive in the Station Grill. They have been open for approximately 3 months and seem to have a great deal of potential. The inside and the ambiance is quite casual but friendly casual. There are mega screen big TVs everywhere for you to watch your popular sports or news or whatever you’re interested in. I’ve heard that, Thursday night is $ 5 burger night and they have an interactive live trivia night . I didn’t have anything to eat on this visit, but my glasses of wine during happy hour were only $ 3 for at least a 7 or 8 ounce pour. That’s one of the best deals going in Tampa. Each drink during happy hour is a dollar off and they have an inside and an outside bar. Set inside and look outside at the people on the porch in the bar and the traffic going by. You can sit outside and look inside at the people dining and sitting at the inside bar. It really is a great concept and business should pick up quite substantially. I just learned that they have a deal on Living Social for $ 10 for $ 20 worth of food and drink. Now I already said I had nothing to eat but I saw several plates going out that looked fabulous and people down them very very quickly. They specialize in a different macaroni and cheese Monday thru Sunday, with each having unique and different attributes. They also have a wide array of tater tots which are one of the new one up and coming trends sticking around & making a come back in this area. They have tater tots with truffle oil, sea salt, cheese, and just about anything you would want to have on them can be added. Their menu also offers assorted soups, salads, appetizers, wings, sandwiches, burgers, pulled pork, meatloaf… a whole lot of comfort food. From what I saw tonight it appeared everyone was enjoying their comfort food quite a bit. I cannot speak to that directly but next time I come I’ll be in the mood for food and not just happy hour. This relatively new place is in a great location. It can get you out of the traffic before you have to head home and its got a great feeling about it, it just needs a whole lot more bodies. They even offer a large selection of great sounding desserts, to keep you feeling at home. My source informed me everything is made in house. Come on give it a try, you got nothing to lose and everything to gain. It’s a great location and nice quiet ambience — have fun with your friends. They have dart boards and memorabilia pictures of Old Tampa Bay, it is really quite eclectic. Ventilation system is visible and very attractive addition to their space. What’s a girl to do? He gets stuck on the other side of town and you need to hang out till traffic dies down. You need to stop and find a place like the Station Grill, if not the real Station Grill.

Some of my wonderful Unilocal friends chose The Station Grill for a meetup last Thursday night, which happened to be $ 5 burger night. I believe everyone at our table decided to have burgers, with the exception of a grouper sandwich. The tator tots that came with the burger were perfectly crispy. I also got to try one of the sweet potato waffle fries and they were fantastic! They come sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and had a great crunch as well. While not everyone at the table liked it, I’d highly recommend the truffle ‘n cheese macaroni. I thought it was great! As the night went on, there was a sudden influx of patrons that mostly stayed at the bar. The place was back to normal by the time we left though. There are plenty of televisions to watch a variety of sporting events and a stage for live entertainment. The bar wraps from indoors to out, leaving the restaurant open to the patio. The main restaurant had a lot of open space for large groups. It seemed as if a lot of people were there to watch Thursday night football or the Lightning game, because most of the people left when they ended. I felt terrible for the new waitress who was left alone to fend for the entire place by herself. There was also only one bartender for a fair amount of guests. Both were friendly and apologetic, but we did end up waiting quite awhile for our food and drinks. We were told that there were two managers in the back who would make sure our food came out on time. if I were running this restaurant, I’d be out there helping these poor girls! Tito’s Vodka was promoting in-house on this particular night, so we were graciously gifted a round of Tito’s drinks. I went with a Tito’s margarita, while others at the table had White Russians and vodka sodas. My drink order was lost in the shuffle, so it didn’t come out until long after my food arrived. We did have a large party, but there were too many issues not to note. The food was decent and if not for the slow service, I would have bumped up to a higher rating. Luckily our company more than made up for the wait! With a few more servers, this place could easily be a great bar and grill.

This could be great. But, it just wasn’t. This is one of many places the owners of Newk’s downtown had/have. I used to really like Newk’s, I’m not sure what happened… it changed to the Patio and then the next thing I know, this is the same owners, located right next to the projects yet super close to UT, so I think it mostly caters to the college crowd. The Thursday night I went with a few other folks, the waitress(there was only 1) was inundated with a lot of customers. This was her 4th day. Poor thing was probably trying to help the bartender-ess(there was only 1) and the kitchen to get the orders of drinks and food out for all the tables. I had the grouper cheeks. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much grouper in each bite and they were way over fried. Then, I had a burger. Many people at our table had a burger. It was $ 5 burger night. We ordered a medium rare, medium, medium well… they all came out the same. Done. The toppings were good, I had the bacon, cheese and grilled onions. The sides(whether tater tots or sweet potato fries), were plentiful and those were very very good. The sweet potato fries were waffle shaped and had good flavor, they were even sweetened with a touch of cinnamon and sugar. I’ve never had sweetened sweet potato fries and I liked it! I do want to recognize that our server was very apologetic and although everything took a really long time, she was very nice — wish I had caught her name.

The West Riverfront sub-division of Tampa is on the rise. Situated smack dab between Downtown and North Hyde Park, this is definitely an area to watch, and I couldn’t be more excited. Cass Street, as well as Cypress between Armenia and North Boulevard have long been eyeballed by potential investors, but plans always fizzled out. Those days are seemingly numbered with new construction homes, condos and apartments popping up along North Oregon, Rome and Fremont Avenues. And today, as we exited downtown along Cass, we set out sights on The Station, formerly the Double Decker lounge, which is aptly named due to its location near the railroad tracks. At first glance, this might seem like another hipster establishment where one might see hilariously tatted waitresses with nose rings and other visible piercings, but that is not the case. This is, by all pub standards, a proper sports bar. Lots of televisions, ordinary pub grub and lots of dudes hootin’ and hollarin’ whilst wearing jerseys for teams not located in the state of Florida. Sunday, it was Vikings fans galore. Absolutely packed to the gills with guys wearing purple and white. The Bucs game was on, so we did our own thing. The menu is not expansive, and contains all one might expect to see in a sports bar. Wings, burgers, sammiches, fries, etc. The one thing that wasn’t obvious to me, which La Chica pointed out, was that there is a mac ‘n cheese variation for each day of the week. I saw the meatloaf sliders and was set on those until I glanced at the«Smoky Pig» mac n’ cheese. So simple. So good. Pasta, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese and bacon. Nothing worse than when places attempt to fancy up mac ‘n cheese with 17 weird-ass cheeses. Simple is the way, folks. Miller Lite was $ 2 a bottle, so we tossed a few of those back. Not our preferred beer, but who could pass up that deal? Karissa was our waitress, and she stayed on top of things. Food arrived quick, drinks never ran dry, and the bill was promptly presented when we were ready to go. No pool tables, but there were some dartboards. The artwork on the walls is all about Tampa, which was major cool. And it looks as if they have live music or trivia on certain nights, though I didn’t inquire. Welcome aboard!

This review could easily be 3 stars but I am rolling with 4 because of the potential. The Station Grill has a great covered patio and a large indoor area with a bar that simultaneously serves both sides. There are tons of TVs and they have NFL ticket for Sundays. The also have a great menu with some unique choices and the food has been pretty solid every time. They have specials like .50 cent wings on Sundays, as well. Their house made ranch is probably the best I’ve ever had. With all of that said, The Station has some improving to do in the most important facet of the restaurant business: service. It seemed pretty good our first couple of visits but it has become progressively worse. I think turnover may contribute to this because this past Sunday I didn’t recognize a single person working except for the manager– who by the way seems like a cool dude, working to fix the issues, and corrects anything possible on the spot. Good help can be tough to find. Simply put, some of the girls that work there just don’t seem to care and/or have a poor work ethic. I invited friends to join this past Sunday and it was a mess; I felt bad for inviting them. The kitchen forgot to bring items out, prepared dishes incorrectly, undercooked items(twice), bills were incorrect, and the blame game was strong. Hard to know who to believe in a situation like that. Drink orders were forgot at LEAST4 or 5 times during our visit. Again, I don’t think it is fair to paint The Station with a poor review because of my most recent visit– but, there are some issues to address quickly before the casual customer enters and never returns. I hope they get it right because it’s close to home and I like the atmosphere.

I am torn between 3 and 4 stars. We have been twice now, the first time was great but the second time was horrible. It was last Sunday night, 10÷25÷15, and there were not that many people there and the service was horrible. Our server kept forgetting our drinks so we had to keep reordering(at least 3 – 4 times) and every single thing we ordered off the menu, something was messed up somehow. They forgot chicken to go with a chicken caesar salad, the wings were not done and had to be sent back twice then we just didn’t get items. The server kept blaming the kitchen and the kitchen kept blaming the server(none of which we wanted to hear). I like the atmosphere here on the patio area which is why we will probably return to watch games. Also, my first experience was pretty good. I had a club sandwich which was good and tried the fried avocado. Enjoyed both and service was good that night. So I guess it’s hit or miss. They are still new so maybe they are still working on things.

Love this place. Came here last Sunday randomly to watch some football and had great service. Tried it for a second time, just as good! Desiree was absolutely amazing. Not only was she completely alert, making sure we always had exactly what we wanted in a very timely manner. But she was super sweet and told us every single special they had for every day of the week. Definitely happy with this place and will continue to come here every.

It was ok, I guess. Tried the meatloaf sandwich, wings, mac and cheese, and bacon meatball sub. I asked if the meatloaf had catsup on it before I ordered it, was told it didn’t, but it did. The meatballs on the sub were cold they remade it and it came back hot but he bread was chewy — microwaved(even though they said it wasn’t. The mac and cheese, tots and wings were very good. They did not charge for the loaf, and were very nice. Would I come back? Maybe, but I wouldn’t rush.

Since being the first to review The Station Grill, I’ve been coming back a little over once a week to see Jeff and the friendly ladies who work here either for lunch with friends who work at the Lightning offices OR to see the«Great Darek Sharp of WDAE» host Sports Jeopardy. The food just keeps getting better to me as I try more items on the menu, especially the dinner plate of meatloaf and mashed potatoes. As someone who loves really good meatloaf, I would put this dish at the top of my list. And don’t think it is overly heavy either. The meatloaf melts in your mouth and is perfectly complimented by those potatoes and country gravy. A very nice gentleman playing Sports Jeopardy next to me at the bar ordered the chicken parm sandwich. I said something to him about how it didn’t last very long and he raved about that item as well as we discussed random baseball trivia notes. Oh, and for those who say this place is too loud… well, I’ve been four times now and never had an issue. Each time I’ve visited, I’ve had no problem having a normal chat with Jeff, the girls or members of my party and for Sports Jeopardy night, nobody complained about Darek being loud at all.(Some of us complained about his clear bias toward the University of Kentucky… but that’s not The Station Grill’s responsibility.)

I am always looking for somewhere good to watch my college football teams on Saturday. My standards are high. I don’t like it to like a frat house, but I also like there to be college football lovers like myself. I gathered a few of my friends and we headed over. USF was playing early so we got there for lunch. They had drink specials and buffalo chicken tenders. I have been craving a good beer and buffalo chicken. I hit the jack pot. Great food, great beer selections, friendly bartenders and staff and lots of TVs. Their menu has variety and their beer selection is awesome. I will definitely be back for happy hour and to try their Jack’s Macs, which are mac&cheeses

Great new spot near UT. 20 beers on tap, food til 2 am and they deliver! 13 TVs in all so there is always a good view of any games no matter where you sit. The meatloaf is the chefs grandmother’s recipe and is a must have. Great nightly drink specials and kids eat free on Wednesdays!

We have watched this restaurant build out for the past several months and were anxious to try out the menu as it looks great. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon around 2pm. There were several people sitting outside and a large group inside with their lap tops open. The music was blasting outside and we figured inside sitting would be best. Nope. Music was just as loud — to the point where sitting next to each other at the table we had to yell into each others ears. Not the way we wanted to have lunch. Sorry :(Left without even ordering. We thought it would be a great afternoon to have some lunch — didn’t realize it was a night club atmosphere at 2pm.
