Steak ‘n Shake

Steak and Shakes are delicious… handsdown, one of the better cheap eats chains in the south… and worth the occasional inconveniences like crazy lines out the door and a rushed feel.
This S&S in particular was FREEZING though which made for an uncomfortable meal… very chaotic even after being seated. BUT the food was amazing and made up for any and all transgressions! «Frisco Melt» and «Very Berry Strawberry» shake are a MUST.

The place was extremely dirty. Luckluster service with inexperienced management. Same olé food.

The food was the usual Steak N Shake. I gave it 3 stars because of the service. There were lots of dirty tables and several people waiting to be seated and they took their time.
On the plus side, the Garlic double burger was amazing? You probably wouldn’t want to kiss me after eating one of them. ;)

This location is horrible, not just the food. The general manager, Kelly is rude and unprofessional! No one should speak with customers the way she does. She is nasty. Someone higher up should take a close look at this location. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this location! Steak and shake isn’t half bad but this store is just horrible. They first got my order wrong So I had to drive all the way back over there. Once there it takes them 20 minutes to fix the problem. I ask for ketchup the lady says its in the bag I’m like ok now I can go home and eat. Nope get home food is cold and guess what no ketchup!
So not that messing up my order twice and being slow was bad enough the place was disgusting inside! Nothing but high school kids «working» standing around while the place was a total wreck. Serious lack of management here. Do yourself a favor and find a different location if you want steak and shake.

On this particular day we didn’t go during peak hours, but they were unusually busy. Our food took 45 min to come out. I think the waiters and waitresses had too many tables to take care of. They seemed all over the place. The high top seats by the grill were a mess from customers who left well before we got there. (plates, napkins, drinks etc). They weren’t cleaned by the time we left an hour later either. I don’t think I will be going back to this location.

This place gets a bad wrap! I’m a fan
First off this place takes coupons… There are tons of coupons in the mail every week.
You can’t expect a gourmet experience people!
You also have to remember that a majority of the workers are high school students. So you gotta cut them a little slack. At least they’re out there working! Plus side this place has happy hour! for shakes! how can it go wrong?
I always get the same thing. Mint shake and frisco melt. I learned from the waitress that you can use multiple coupons on the same trip. Does this make me sound cheap? too bad sometimes I am. Their burgers are decent as well and there are a lot to choose from. They have there own spice shaker on the tables and you should use that to completely cover your fries! it’s so good.
Depending on the number of people working that shift… your food will either be quick and out to your table or you will be waiting for a while… play candy crush to pass the time. OR better yet talk to the people you’re eating with instead of playing on your phone. Remember it’s cheap sit down food but it’s good quality and that takes time. If you want something cheap and fast go to McDonalds.

This experience takes the cake for being horrid. I went through the drive-​through to get a milkshake and a brownie sundae. I waited 15 minutes before my order was even taken, and then had to repeat it several times. Then, after I paid, I was told to wait by the stop sign for my order. Another 15 minutes goes by and nothing. Finally, I went inside and my order was sitting on the counter with the ice cream melted. Nobody apologized or even cared. I had to walk through a cloud of smoke on my way out, because employees were sitting outside smoking.

They say the 3^rd times the charm, not here. Maybe it’s just the evening crew, I don’t know. This was my 3^rd and last time (not charmed). For the 3^rd time my order was incorrect, burger was very greasy, bun was cold and so were my fries. However the coke was great. Not up for another try. Skip it!

Really wish this place was better. My kids always want to go here. Every time I regret it. Not clean, poor service, bathroom had no soap or towels. (Hope staff washed their hands) Food takes forever, they usually mess up the order. Last visit my daughter got food poising, however my portobello swiss burger was tasty. Doubt we’ll be back.

Service matters, but no matter how nice the servers are, it doesn’t make up for the insanely long wait times. It doesn’t seem to matter how large or small the group is, the time it takes to get food or shakes is always extremely long. I like steak and shake, and I love the people here… but man, their kitchen. So. Slow.

I really want to love this place but I believe it’s a mismanaged establishment. Every time we come here, they get my husband’s order wrong. It happened again last night. He doesn’t want mayo or cheese on his burgers. It always seems to have mayo on it. Then he waits for his food while I eat mine so it doesn’t get cold. I ordered the grilled cheese burger. It’s new and comes with fries. Fries were great. The sandwich, while yummy, was way too greasy. And I was bummed that my shake came at the end of my meal as I like to dip the fries. Overall, last night’s experience was a fail. Sigh. Hoping they get their act together.

How do you run out of Sourdough Bread? It’s the most popular item on the menu (Melt) ?
Food was ok for the cost, if you don’t like pink in your burgers, make sure you tell them well done.
It’s pretty much a made to order McDonalds with service seating.
Waitress was friendly and kept busy.

Came in at 9:00 at night and they had 14 dirty tables and one person cleaning them. Waited way longer than i should of for a table. People are friendly but management sure is slacking. Hostess was making small talk with customers waiting behind us rather than attending to us with full attention. Slows service. Food is the same as any other steak n shake. (Took a half hour for the manager to come out and actually pitch in after they saw how many people were walking out because they couldnt get a table)

I thought it was fast food, it sort of is, great value! I think they are branded wrong, this is more like Johnny Rockets but I had no idea before I went in.

OMG! Is the night crew here slow and frankly not too bright. Took ½ hour in the drive thru to get a chocolate chip milk shake and they still made it wrong. Yikes! Skip this location and hit cold stone creamery instead.

I love Steak ‘n Shake but this location is terrible. Our waitress insulted my friend for sitting with her legs crossed because her feet were cold and she never came back to give us our refills. She even forgot my drink completely. To make matters worse (and highly disgusting) my friend opened his silverware to find a dirty fork with dry ketchup on it. We waited for our food for a long time, granted it was busy, but our waitress seems to have no clue what she’s doing. I wouldn’t be so turned off from this location had she not been rude to us without any reason.
I don’t know if I want to come back if there are better options.

A decent burger for the price. I had the garlic burger — the bun was topped with butter and garlic and it was pure goodness! The fries are thin and small, but it was all under $ 4 and I’m all about portion control, so it was just the right amount of food for me.
I’ll have to come back soon and try one of their milkshakes. They looked yummy!

Food good as always. Love their shoestring like french frys and the chili 3 way. Shakes are the best around. But be prepared to wait. Here the third time in the last month and still pathetically slow. We arrive with only the quarter of the restaurant full and it still took 40 min for entrée and another half an hour for shakes. Come on guys…

Family loves S-​n-​S! Best hamburgers of all «chains» by far. Not my favorite fries, but the burger makes up for it. We live within 5 miles and service has always been acceptable.
