We’ve been here 4 – 5 times. Also, we’ve ordered pick up too. It’s not a fancy restaurant nor is it quick service. However, we keep coming back because the service is pleasant and the food is consistently good. The owners or employees are very nice and will suggest different menu items. We’ve tried and really enjoyed the chicken masala, butter chicken, kofta(ground beef kabob), samosas, eggplant, chicken kabob, and dal(lentils). The basmati rice as a side is delicious too. The mango lassi is tasty too! The food has a great flavor and nice spice to it. The spice is perfect and not flaming hot. Give it a try!

This place is sooooo good. You can tell the chef really puts an effort into the food! So far I’ve had the Mantu, which is beef dumplings with yogurt and tomato sauce, as well as the kebabs and seasoned chicken thighs with rice. Seriously, it’s the most tender and succulent meat I’ve had in Tampa! Plus, the place is clean and well kept. I’ve been there twice so far, yet the place is always empty! You wouldn’t expect such good food to be right across from the Publix on Gandy, but hey, stranger things happen…

I was in the area, starving and craving something different. I love Mediterranean and middle eastern food. I saw this place, checked out the ratings on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. It was a Sunday and place was empty but I went for it and ordered the chicken tiki masala to keep it simple. I brought it home and devoured it in minutes! It took a while for the order but freshness and quality are worth the wait. The chicken was fresh and tender, had a little too much sauce for me but I just pushed it aside. The basmati rice was the best I’ve ever had! It was so aromatic, was that mace or clove I tasted? I don’t know but I could eat a pot all on its own. I’d definitely go back and try the buffet lunch so I can sample more of their menu.

Food was GREAT! Everything on the buffet was steaming hot and fresh. Lamb was tender and boneless, chicken was boneless breast sauteed with veggies. The appetizer of bread stuffed with spiced potatoes was AWESOME. There was rice pilaf with shredded carrots and raisins, regular basmati rice, Sabzi(spinach/greens, kind of like Indian Saag/Palak), and a stew of chickpeas and potatoes. Very nice selection of individually wrapped desserts: rice pudding, something like baklava, fruit cocktail with mango pudding, and the sweet noodles in cream. THEBESTRICEPUDDING!!! I will definitely be back. The owner was very welcoming and conversational, décor is pleasant, restaurant is very clean, and food was awesome! I hope to upgrade to 5-stars after experiencing the dinner menu. There’s even an Afghan Tea Room at the back with special booths.

Curry in Hurry was a solid 3 stars. Everything we tried was full of flavor. So why only 3 stars? Well, the buffet could have been larger(more variety). There were only 3 entrée options, two sides, and then samosas and naan. Not being too well versed in Afghani cuisine, we opted for the buffet so we could try different dishes. They were all great, but we had hoped that there would be more than just 3 entrees on the buffet. The seasoned lentils(daal) were outstanding! We will be back to give it another go.

Finally got around to trying it tonight. So good! I had a side of the kofta curry, chicken masala entre, and salad. Super fast and friendly. Loved the food and the staff. A new local favorite!

Really impressive food. The dishes taste like they are coming straight out of someone’s kitchen in the middle east. Delicious flavors on the nicely grilled meats. The name is misleading since you’d expect a primarily curry dish menu from India or Thailand, but the food is Afghan, and amazing. It’s neither mostly curry nor made in a hurry. We waited quite some time for our food, but it was worth the wait. The food was great and notably fresh. I’ve only been for lunch and the buffet is no longer available everyday, but there are plenty of items to choose from that will not disappoint. My husband really enjoyed any of the grilled meat dishes and my favorite is the eggplant dish. Very casual restaurant located across from Target down South Dale Mabry.

What a gem. Excellent menu, wonderful kitchen execution, warm and attentive service, what else could you want in a restaurant? We drove 30 minutes past countless restaurants and were well rewarded for the effort. Since moving Tampa, we have made a point of trying a new restaurant every week. Without question this is one of the better finds. Excellent appetizers and fantastic pilau dishes faithful to their roots served in a spotless and comfortable setting. We are eager to eat our way through the rest of the menu.

Excellent Afghan food! My wife and I shared the Babaganush(which is delicious and spiced extremely well). She had the chicken curry: spiced and savory without being too bkt for her. I had the Lamb and Chicken Combo: utterly delicious. The combination of spices and quality of the cooking made this place easily on the short list for us to eat out at. The staff was very friendly, food can take a moment to come out but that is certainly worth it when the food is made-to-order. If you enjoy this cuisine, this restaurant is a must-enjoy! Can’t wait to go back and can’t wait to spread the word to friends!!!

For the first time I tried afghani food. It’s really yummy. Flavors are coming out from each dish. I went for buffet, dishes are limited, two meat dishes and 4 veggie dishes. I was little disappointed when I saw limited meat dishes. However chicken curry is yummy and lamb pulov is good. Deserts are good, not fancy but home style. It does not give me restaurant style opinion but a home made simple and delicious food. I would recommend others for this cuisine. It’s a good try and ambiance is good.

Absolutely loved the flavors of the food. Ordered A La Carte. In my opinion — too stingy with the meat and even the yoghurt dressing. Not enough protein. Will give it another try. Had there been more meat in the portions I would’ve given it 4 to 5 stars.

I had the chicken curry and it was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the curry was full of flavor and went very well with the basmati rice. I will definitely be back!

Did the buffet. Very delicious flavors and a great value. Enjoyed all the dishes and desserts. Not too spicy but very flavorful. Friendly service. There’s a cute traditional room you can dine in or café style seating. Looking forward to returning. Love having a yummy Aghan food option

I often get their lamb and curry. Also love the spinach in the vegetarian dish. I have never tried their buffet but have seen a number of people go to lunch for that.

Afghani food in South Tampa! There is no buffet on weekends, but I preferred to order a la carte anyway. I had the lamb kabab, and the lamb was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Really good. This came with a huge amount of rice(probably twice as much as necessary), a simple salad, flatbread, and a yogurt sauce. The yogurt sauce was not my favorite, but it wasn’t bad. I also had a nice, creamy mango smoothie. Service was fine. The décor is leftover from Café Marti, including pictures from Cuba. Sort of weird, but maybe this is a sublet?

Glad to see these guys reopened. We got the lamb curry, a ravioli appetizer, and eggplant dish. All great. The portion size of the lamb was smaller than I would have wanted(maybe they were running low, working out the kinks after reopening), but that would be my only complaint and a minor one. Looking forward to trying more of the vegetable dished. Try the ravioli appetizer, it has a hint of mint which was very nice.

Finally Indian food has made it to South Tampa! I tried the buffet, which for now was the only option, but that didn’t matter because the food was on point! The chicken in cilantro gravy was beyond my expectations and a candidate for my second favorite Indian dish behind chicken korma. The owners are so nice and you can really feel the love they have for Tampa and great food. They even made a yogurt sauce simply because I asked if they had some. I can’t wait to go again and try everything that they offer

Indian food in South Tampa! What else is there to say? I used to have to drive to Kennedy to get my fix of Indian cuisine and now there is a spot right by my house. I am really excited about this place and hope they stay in business for a long time. Okay so for the review. I went in for lunch takeout and they had a buffet set up. I got a full to go container full of favorites for less than 9 dollars. They also included separate containers for naan bread and lentils. Everything tasted delicious and was full of spice. The butter chicken was on point, the chick pea dishes were great, and the samosas were phenomenal. I only hope they add a chicken vindaloo dish to the buffet and some raita and it would be perfect. As it stands, the food here is delicious and the service and location are great. If you’re in South Tampa you no longer have to drive for miles for Indian cuisine. It’s right here now and it’s great. Give it a shot.
