I wanted to order to go from here today but there is no on line menu to speak of. They only show appetizers, soups, vegetables. I have eaten here before and it was pretty good. I just got out of the hospital and can’t sit and wait while my order is cooked if I were to go in to have to physically LOOK at the menu and then order. So, I guess I have to skip it and get something somewhere else.

Before we went in I called to see if they were open. A woman answered the phone and after I asked if they were open, she was silent. I asked again and she hung up. We showed up and they were open. When we were seated at our table and asked for waters, the waitress spilled one of the glasses on me as she brought them out. She wiped it up and took away my wet menu and never brought me another one. We saw a staff member bringing in a plate of supplies behind us and she dropped a plate of lemons onto the ground. I ordered a margarita and it tasted like a children’s juice drink. My friend ordered a margarita and when he showed his ID to the waitress(he’s 22) she did the math and decided he wasn’t old enough to drink; she never brought him his margarita. The food was very bland. Overall, 5⁄5. I will definitely be back just for the experience.

I can’t say that I was impressed with the food, but I wasn’t disappointed. The service was good. I sat in what appears to be the main restaurant area. This place is dated, for sure, but I couldn’t help but feel like this place, at some point, was spectacular. With restaurants going under every time you turn around, it would be hard to maintain that level of décor, but they are trying. This building appears huge, but could likely be utilized in a different way to bring back a larger customer base. I would eat here again.

The food was excellent. BUT don’t eat in the bar. First the bartender spilled sweet and sour on me. Than over charged our bill $ 20.55. Never once did she comped anything on the meal. Will go back but never in the bar.

We use to come to this place — in the Old Days but haven’t been back forever. It has unfortunately gone down hill. I will say the service was great, friendly and fast. Unfortunately the food is very bland — what we call nursing home cosine — not much taste. The atmosphere is old and could be redone and it doesn’t give you a feeling of cleanness..

I have been coming to this location since I was a child. I’m shocked to see people talk so poorly when I’ve been treated so well!!! The owners are incredible people running a small family owned restaurant. Love this place, the people that say they got sick is because they ate more than their limit for one sitting. I will be coming here as long as the doors are open. Taste it before you hate it. #porkfuyoung #mushroom beefsteak

Dirty, dirty, dirty. By the way, did I say it was dirty? Like other reviewers noticed, the fish tank was filthy, and there was unpleasant odor in the room. Food portions were generous, but tasteless. Won’t be coming back.

This place had a smell of rancid water, the food was bland and without much flavor. Out of the 5 of us that went, no one completely finished their meal because it just was not good. Decent service but everything else was very poor.

This place looked mediocre but I read a good review somewhere(I think?) so I tried it out… got there to a sign that said wait to be seated, but no staff. Finally seated, took 10 minutes for someone to bring us water and take our order. Got potstickers(deep fried, mediocre, came with very weird soy-ish sauce), egg rolls(more like spring rolls, not very good), summer roll with tofu(pretty good), chicken fried rice(overall mediocre, chicken was low quality). All told was $ 25 plus tip… left a way lower tip than normal due to terrible service(1 server for 9 tables, frazzled and not efficient, also acting as host and busser). Very disappointed. Oh, and had to come back and edit — as we left it smelled like sewer in the lobby. Could have been the fish tank or bathrooms but it was bad. One guy at the end was nice and offered my daughter an extra cookie. Not sure who he was, hadn’t seen him up until that point!

The place has really gone down hill. The food boring, no flavor. Nobody was there to greet me when I walked in. I had to wait a few minutes for someone to even acknowledge me while the owner and his family were off at a table immersed in their own little game they were playing at a large table. Only two other patrons were in the restaurant and they were getting ready to leave. They had to sit for a long time and wait for their bill. The atmosphere is drab and depressing. The tables are held together with duct tape. There is no sense of pride. There is no thought put into the food, the flavor or the décor. I will not be coming back.

So me and my wife had a child free afternoon and had a craving for Chinese food. Unilocaled this location and decided to give it a shot. Parking was wide open and easily accessible. Walking up to the building you notice that the outside façade hasn’t sent been updated in 20+ years. An impressing metal gate first greats you then followed by a less than impressive makeshift kiddy pool makeshift water feature with 5 gallon bucket potted fake plants. The door swings open and you are swiftly taken to the movie set of the worst«B film» with a Chinese mobsters restaurant. We were quickly greeted and sat at the first open booth. I quickly scanned the massive menu, some could argue too many options. I choose a #8 lunch plate(fried rice, sweet and sour pork and chow mein). After ordering I noticed the fish tank we walked past to be seated. The layers of algae were beyond measure. My gaze now drifted and found more than I care to type, finger smudge around light fixtures that have not seen a cleaning product in years, plugs overloaded and dust dangling from the ceiling. The food was on price, portion and point. My wife and I enjoyed the food. Recommendation– order take out and get it delivered if you can to save yourself the icky feeling I had. Owners– close the restaurant for a day and clean top to bottom, maybe even a coat of paint. If this is not feasible at the very least please save the fish from the poop prison you have them in.

Looking for cheap Americanized Chinese this is it. Yes its old and dirty but food is good and plentiful. Watch Tacoma news tribune for 2 for 1 coupon good deal. The owners do not have much of a personality but the food is good and the drinks are strong.

The food is above average«Americanized Chinese», the portions are large, the prices are modest and the service is fast and friendly. So what if the building is a little run down, I’m not eating the building.

This place was a total disappointment. I read the comments before trying the place out and went off the most current review and had hope it would be worth giving a try. My son & i love Chinese food and by no means have any high standards. But this restaurant was awful. We actually wanted to Get up and leave once the main course arrived… nothing resembled what we were familiar with. We ate a small taste, paid for the meal and then threw the leftovers in the garbage outside… it was that bad! What also surprised me was that there were a lot Of cars in the parking lot, but we were the only patrons in the diningroom(first red flag). As we left, i noticed an open back door leading to the lounge… maybe thats whats keeping the place in business.

I dont know why there are such negative reviews here. I honestly feel people get all snobby and act like every restaurant has to be like you are eating at El Gaucho. This is a good Chinese joint and just like most good Chinese joints, its in an old building that may have some cosmetic issues. Big deal. The service is great and the food is too. If you got a hair in your food, that sucks but it could happen anywhere. Sheesh.

Never again! The food tastes just as bad as the place looks. We used to live in Gig Harbor, moved to San Diego 6 years ago. This place was one of the places we used to visit when we lived in the area. So… we are here on vacation and decided to visit this old favorite of ours. What a BIG disappointment!!! The place is looking very sad. I don’t think they’ve upgraded or renovated anything since we left 6 years ago. I also wonder if they changed owners. Such a big change! Not for the better either! We order a bowl of egg drop soup and 2 combination meals. Last time we were here the combos were very nice, they brought a ton of plates with different meals on them. Well… not this time!!! All dishes from the combo came on ONE regular sized plate! Made me feel like I was a pig, like someone just got all the left overs they had, threw them on a plate and offered it to me! NASTY!!! My combo had a bowl of wanton soup, almond fried chicken, moo goo gai pan(chicken with mushrooms and veggies), pork fried rice and sweet and sour pork. Almond fried chicken was crunchy and that pretty much describes it. Flavorless and not yummy! Bwah! Moogoo gaipan was just yucky! I have no idea what they did to that thing but it was not good! The pork fried rice was whatever, if I were a starving kid in Africa I would have probably eaten it but that’s about it. The sweet and sour pork was terrible. However, the wanton soup was excellent! From the whole combo the ONLY thing I ate was the wanton soup! Our little one was supposed to share with me, the only thing she ate was very little from the moogoo gai pan and nothing else, she didn’t like anything either. My husband’s combo contained wanton soup, egg roll, amazing beef, spicy chicken wings and pork fried rice. As I already mentioned the soup was awesome, rice was blah…, the wings were ok but NOT spicy at all, the egg roll was different but good and my husband enjoyed his beef even though I didn’t like it. Sooo… with all that food on the table, looking like they were feeding pigs and not people, everything just splatted on two plates, we ate the wanton soup(good thing they didn’t pour that one on top of the mixed crap that we got!!!), my husband ate his beef, him and I split the egg roll and our little one ate a small part of the moogoo thing. Nasty, nasty, nasty! The woman that was serving us asked if we needed a box for the left over food. Are you kidding me!!! That was crap! I wouldn’t feed it to my dog! Let alone it looked like someone just threw up on that plate and they just served it to us! NASTY!!! The moogoo gai pan was a sauce dish that just mixed with everything else! It should have been in a bowl! How can anybody mix food like that?! This is not a buffet! The customer should be the one mixing food IF they want to, assuming they like the food. And some things just don’t mix well! I can’t express how disgusted I was!!! Oh… the bowl of egg drop soup we ordered was very good. That’s the only thing I ate together with the little bowl of wanton soup that came with the combo. That’s the reason for the second star. Soups were good! Big disappointment! NEVER again! $ 30 for a bowl of soup, an egg roll and a small portion of beef. Yeah, me thinks NOT! Go somewhere else! Spare yourself the humiliation of being treated like a pig and served puke! RUN!!!

It was my birthday and a big group of friends and I ended up here by accident. But we were glad we stayed! Yes, the place is a dive, but the service was amazing. The servers were kind and friendly and even brought us plates and forks to eat birthday cakes we brought. The cocktails were cheap and plentiful, and the food was decent. Friends who bought the combos felt that they got a great deal with lots of good food(soup, three kinds of appetizers, and three kinds of entrees for $ 12 each). And four of us were vegetarian and had lots of options, including veggie meats and fish which are not common enough in Tacoma. The place was pretty empty, but we just let loose and this was a comfortable place to do it. We all agreed that we will be back; this is a fun and inexpensive place to come with friends who are not snobby about fancy food and just want to have a good time.

No one showed up at the reception desk when I entered the resturant for about 5 minutes. I walked into the bar and was greeted immediately by the bartender. I was a bit uncomfortable eating in a bar but I wanted some chinese food. The friendly bartender invited me up to the bar to eat and I felt much better. I have returned for my «chinese fix» since because of her. The appetizers are terrific, but the basic meals are so so. The egg rolls are better when ordered as an appetizer than when they are part of a combination meal. The barbeque pork is devine, moist, nice size pieces, almost a meal in itself.
