I love this place. Simple, small and cute. I’ve been here twice, ordered out both times. Quick and delicious. The samoan burger is good and huge! Comes with a drink and fries! Will definitely be coming back for more!

The outside is the very definition of what a dive is. Then you walk in and it’s spotlessly clean. This is my 3rd time here. I’ve had the combo fried rice, the bigfoot burger combo and the chicken/beef teriyaki. I’ve been happy with it all. The bigfoot burger is huge and I ate as much as I could of the chicken/beef teriyaki combo plate and have enough left over for at least 1 maybe 2 more meals. I can’t believe how much food I got for $ 8.95, and it was delish. I highly recommend this place if you’re hungry and don’t want to spend a lot of $$$.

I spent a lot of my adolescence walking around Tacoma with friends and I saw this place every day. I only decided to actually try after years of living locally. This restaurant’s definitely one of Tacoma’s gems and I only grow to like this place more after each visit. It’s hard to not feel like you’re making a mistake coming here since its appearance doesn’t leave a good impression. But come inside and you’ll find that the restaurant is very clean and cared for, if a little aged, and their freshly cooked meals are tasty and plentiful. It’s easy to find most any good cuisine in Tacoma, but if you’re looking for Asian food at a modest price, you’ll be hard-pressed. The teriyaki at Burger Bar is excellent and I’ve heard good things about the burgers but by far my favorite items from Burger Bar are the Chinese entrees, since I think that’s what’s hardest to find in Tacoma. Other Chinese restaurants or restaurants serving Chinese food around here don’t come close to this place in price or quality. All in all, this is a great little place for lunch or dinner. They could really benefit from an improved appearance, but that shouldn’t stop you from going in.

I am down at Cosmonaut Coffee once or twice a week and I always see the Burger Bar when I go there. I figured I would give the place a try and it was so so. My hamburger was alright but nothing overly inspiring. The service was actually very good and friendly but nothing was really all that memorable about the food but I suppose it is good in a pinch and you are around finicky eaters who just like the basics.

Hands down my favorite chicken teriyaki in Tacoma. Over the past 5 years I’ve made a point to try as many teriyaki joints as I can find. The difference is in the sauce. Its thick and delicious. The service is ALWAYS friendly and prompt. The prices are unbeatable too!

Came here while visiting my mom at Tacoma General. Saw some good reviews on it so thought I’d give it a try. Definitely worth it! I had the teriyaki chicken n rice, samoan burger, and big foot burger. On different days of course. Come with an appetite. I really enjoy these small mom n pop places. Saw something funny too. A women came in with a baby stroller but had a cat in it lol.

this place might look disgusting or shady on the outside but once you get inside its clean the people that work there are super nice its super inexpensive the food is pretty darn good too. If you’re ordering Asian food the teriyaki was a decent sauce and the burgers are for the price very good would be great if they weren’t right next to you frisco freeze shake shake shake which are ten times better but if you are going here get the fried rice I repeat get the fried rice the fried rice is great this place is worth stopping in if you’re in the neighborhood and feel like giving a hole in the wall a shot

My family has lived in Tacoma at least as long as this place has been here and this is my first time trying it. The reviews are accurate. It’s a dump. But being a dump doesn’t mean it has to be dirty which this place is not. Sure things aren’t the prettiest or most up to date but you’re not eating those things are you? I’m not at least and in fact I got my food to go. Wasn’t in the place more than 15min from the time I ordered. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and got a can of pop all for $ 8.02 and it was delicious. The serving was enough for two of me so at least I have lunch for tomorrow! I would recommend this place for a quick and inexpensive lunch or dinner to go. I only give four stars because the place could stand to be fixed up…

We had sweet and sour chicken and a burger. Ss chicken was nasty– overcooked, sauce SUPER thick and rice was flavorless. Burger was ok– no ketchup or mustard on it despite employee sayin there would be. I will not be returning

Great hole-in-the wall restaurant with unique combination of teriyaki, Chinese, and burgers – all of which are really good. The décor is lacking inside but fine to pop in for a casual lunch, though I usually just call in my order and pick it up. As dive teriyaki restaurants go I think it is great, only reason I’m not giving it the full 5 star treatment is since it doesn’t have a terribly inviting décor for a sit-down meal. I suggest the teriyaki chicken or the double cheeseburger.

Burger was mediocre at best. Not a fan of a place that is called burger bar that doesn’t use freshly ground meat nor does it use an artisan bun. Needs to step up its game. Plus it is not open late.

I admit it, I had been to just about every restaurant on 6th/Division except this one. I mean, is it a burger place or a chinese place? If a place is good at burgers, why would they also make teriyaki? The questions kept flowing, so I avoided trying it. Finally, I was desperate enough for chicken teriyaki that I thought I would try the Burger Bar. I have to admit, as sketchy as the place looks, it was fairly clean inside and the service was quick and friendly. The teriyaki was solid. Nothing super special, but definitely tasted good. I will definitely be back to try one of the other 40 things on the menu, maybe even a burger.

Prime expamle of not judging a book by it’s cover! I think this is the best teriyaki I have found in T-Town. I am a sucker for Spicy Chicken Teriyaki and stemmed veggies. I do have to say Burger Bar does not short you on the spice! It’s a high 3 star and sometimes gets my nose running. The chicken is juicy an charred just enough. Portions are large enough to make two meals from one order. Perfect leftover meal! On to the burgers. It is the burger bar after all. The Samoan burger is the SH*T and a perfect cure for the day after grease aka the hangover. The sesame buns are perfectly toasted sandwiching in a huge juicy hamburger patty layered with pineapple, cheese, yaki sauce and is big enough for sharing. They get pretty busy during lunch time. I highly recommend calling in your order to go. Like I said do not judge the book by it’s cover it’s a must try.

I realize this place looks like a pile from the outside. And if I had not been going here since I was a wee lad because my parents loved the place two decades ago, then I most certainly wouldn’t have ever thought to just pop in. That being said, I absolutely love Burger Bar. Service is always with a smile, and the food is always delicious with very large portions. Despite it’s name I almost always get Chicken Teriyaki, Garlic Chicken, or some variation thereof. If you have a Burger, you have GOTTOTRY the Samoan. Absolutely fabulous. Please don’t pass judgement because of they way they look, give Burger Bar a try.

This place is awesome. You get a HUGE helping of teriyaki for about $ 7. I have to split with a friend! It also comes with cabbage and a big pile of rice. There is a lot of sauce, but I like it that way. Delicious!

I miss the Burger Bar. Having moved away from Tacoma in the mid-90s, I frankly hadn’t even thought about the place in years. But they always did me right with a cheap plate of asian food and a smile.

If you order the chicken teriyaki you get a mountain of broiled chicken(with real broil marks!) drenched in gooey teriyaki sauce. This is the way I like it. Some teriyaki places can be pretty sketchy but The Burger Bar’s meat has always looked fresh and flavorful – never gray or gristly. Staff are friendly and service is quick. Not a big fan of the cabbage salad that comes on the side, though. Strange, it’s never occurred to me to order a burger here.
