Came here for lunch as a first timer since we’ve been told it’s a really good place. First off, this place must be really good since parking is hard to find during lunch hours. Line to get in and order is long from the front of the cashier out to the front door. My friend and I got the guacamole bacon burger and Cajun burger and it was really really good. Got the small fries and it was enough to fill the both of us up, Yummy fries. I got a Mai Tai from the bar for $ 7 and Yes it was good and worth that $ 7 and tastes like what a Mai Tai should. Anyway my intention is not about the food but is a an situation that I feel in. Upon leaving, my friend forgot and left her phone behind. We sat towards the front and away from the front door. We didn’t realize until when we got back to the office and so I hurried my way back to the restaurant(under 30 min). Unfortunately our area got clean up, the front cashier told me to check at the bar for in case of any lost/found items. Again unfortunately nothing found, but I find their courtesy and consideration of my concern did not interest them and was quick to shoo me away. So for this situation I’m giving this place only a 1 star.

St. John’s is a classic burger place. They may not have been the first to put avocado and bacon in my favorite burger but it tastes like it was. They have a signature look, feel and taste to its food and area. I respect that they’re closed on Sunday’s, but man I sure am hungry today I’m craving their burger & garlic fries! And I hate nacho cheese fries and such but their sour cream and cheese fries are my the only ones with cheese I’ll eat. You want a new favorite burger place? Go here and you won’t regret. But just to warn you it’s a first come first serve on tables so, grab when you can and you’ll enjoy the food even more.

The best burger period! Been coming here for about 20 years now, and eaten different places but nothing as tasty and filling as St John’s.

Dry and tasteless. When we got there, there were only two people ahead of us, but it still took forever to get our food. We had burgers, grilled cheese, and a philly cheesesteak and everything was dry and bland. Based on all the positive reviews we couldn’t believe it could so bad, but yeah, it was bad. Anyway, burgers are half off on Saturdays – still not worth coming back though. Yelch.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best. Tritip Tuesday and beef brisket Wednesday. Everything is made fresh. Def worth the price. Sometimes the line can get pretty long, so don’t come during main lunch rush!

Great happy hour. Place is packed on a Friday night. Full of techie and engineering types. Tables were full but we were able to snag some seats fairly quickly. Happy hour fries with toppings are to die for. My fav sand which is the French Philly. Trust me and try it!

Came here on Friday around 4pm. There was no line but half the restaurant was filled up. Friday’s are 1⁄3 off appetizers starting at 4pm. With that deal we decided to try. Garlic Fries $ 4.95– lightly crispy and full of garlic flavor! Deep Fried Zucchini $ 4.95– this was ok. it wasn’t as hot and crispy as I would like. It came with a mayo-wasabi dipping sauce which was good. Jalapeño Poppers $ 4.95– my friends really liked this one because the cheese was super hot and oozy. I thought the exterior wasn’t that crispy and the poppers are a lot smaller than other places I’ve had them. Beer Battered Onion Rings $ 4.95– thick and crunchy batter but tasted like they were previously frozen. We ordered 3 different burgers and they were all so dry and did NOT taste fresh. The patties had no flavor or juiciness to them whatsoever! Beg For Mercy Cheeseburger $ 8.35 — extremely plain! Cold buns… couldn’t taste the chipotle mayo. I added curry ketchup to the burger so I could actually eat it. The peppers did nothing for it either! Bacon and Swiss $ 8.75– my friend ordered this and he said it was extremely dry and had no flavor. The bacon made the burger seem even dryer. Hickory Burger $ 8.35– this was only the only burger that didn’t seem super dry or tasteless. only because it was already covered in bacon and BBQ sauce. At the cashier, my friend noticed a stack of frozen patties! Ugh. They are not freshly made to order. I’m assuming that goes for the same as all our appetizers as well. Nothing tasted fresh or that hot at all. Good thing they have a self served sauce area otherwise I don’t think I would have been able to eat half my food. My favorite was the curry ketchup though. They also had honey mustard, chipotle ketchup, ketchup and mustard. We also ordered a pitcher of beer but when we poured it out into our glasses, it came out to only by 3 glasses worth a beer! Lame. We ended up togo-ing over half of what we ordered. This place is OKAY for fried appetizers and beer. They have a complimentary chip and dip, veggies and ranch table near the cashier area. There’s also a full bar and there’s plenty of seating inside but I don’t think I’ll come back here any time soon… .unless I’m drunk and have frozen fried food cravings.

St. John’s Bar & Grill serves very traditional and classic American food. I ordered the mushroom cheesesteak. Although the bread was normal, it had a good portion of steak! I was obsessed with the cheesesteak, but… can’t eat too much at once, it was a little bit greasy. I prefer their cheesesteak to the burgers because I think their burgers look just fine.

Woohoo! It’s back to ½ off again! I’ve been coming here for years. Great place to go for ½ off burgers on certain days. Their garlic fries, fries, and onion rings are good too! I’ve almost all of their burgers and they are really good!

Food was great! Bartender was really friendly. Would be 5 stars except for 2 things: 1. The menu says«cajun chicken»(etc). It doesn’t explain(nor does the order taker) that it’s a sandwich. I thought I was getting BBQ chicken with cajun spices. Still delicious though, just had to scrape off the mayo. 2. I ordered the basket of onion rings. What I got was about 1⁄6 of a basket of onion rings, and the rest was fries. I’m still planning on going back soon though.

Just another average place with average burger and below-average fries. Won’t go again in a while. The pros about this place are the location, parking lot is big and outdoor seating is great.

I’m pretty sure I absorbed enough grease through my pores during the short time I sat at the bar, to where I put on an ample five pounds. This is definitely a good old boy sports bar: standard wood panelled bars, red checkered table cloths, TVs in every direction, with sports audio blaring quite loudly through speakers. This would be a raw food yogi’s idea of Hell. But for those of us who are feeling less saintly, St. John’s offer a plethora of greasy grimy bar food goodness. Downsides: it’s noisy + no air conditioning. Perks: a big patio with tables and lots of beer/booze.

Great place for a burger and a beer with a bunch of friends. Tons of TVs and tons of options for bar food and booze. This place can get packed so get in pretty early or be prepared for the wait. But I mean with a wait this long its because the food is pretty good deal for the prices! Come check it out!

I ordered the southwestern chicken salad. It came with 1 gallon of oil :-( My friends had the burgers. They said it was decent. I was surprised to see the response from the owner that they made changes, so I updated my rating.

Wow, that was probably one of the worst burgers I’ve ever had in my life. And I’m not a picky eater, so that’s saying something! I came on a Wednesday night for the half off burger deal. Perhaps it was bad because they have to make so many burgers on an extra busy night; who knows? I asked the cashier what the most popular burger is and Guaco Bacon Burger was one of them. I paid $ 4.67 for the burger and $ 3.25 for a small side of fries. The food came out within 3 – 4 minutes… It literally seemed like they just bought the buns from the store, opened the package, and threw them on with everything else. Did they even toast them? The buns were so dry! And I was expecting way more guac in the middle :( I was so disappointed… such a waste of my money and calories! Any fast food burger would’ve been way better than this worthless burger. My friend said she enjoyed it though… but that’s coming from someone who is even more easily satisfied than I am. The fries were good and the curry ketchup was interesting, but other than that, if I had to pay full price, I would’ve been pissed! I most likely won’t be back, unless any of my friends really wanted to.

Great place to watch a game over a pitcher of beer! We didn’t have dinner here, but caught a Warriors game here over a beer. I had the Stella Artois which they had on tap. Really like the number of beer options they have on tap. Great place with great atmosphere. It is family friendly too. The place is brightly lit and kept clean. Servers work hard to keep the tables clean.

A San Jose institution! With over 1800 reviews, I can’t exactly say that it’s a secret spot that no one really knows about. Don’t come here if you’re looking for the next fancy schmancy burger flavor. While they do have some flavored ketchups that are a must try, most burgers are going to be standard fare. But, they do it very well! A little messy, but a lot flavorful. My go to is the Beg For Mercy burger. Don’t be scared. Yes, it’s a little hot with roasted serrano chiles, but it’s not over the top. It comes with chipotle mayo and pepperjack cheese, but I like to add a little regular ketchup(they also have curry and chipotle flavored ketchup). They also make a chicken sandwich or philly cheesesteak version, as well. Keep in mind that the burgers are also served a la carte. If you want fries, which you do, you need to order it separately. Get a basket to share. They are fresh cut and delicious. As are the onion rings. Most people like to come here for their daily specials. I can’t tell you what they are, because they have changed recently. But, you are looking at the likes of 1⁄3 off sandwiches, discount beers, and cheap appetizers. On some days, they also have specialties like tri-tip sandwiches. Lastly, be aware that the parking situation is a mess during lunch. If you come here during lunch, it’s best to come around 11:30.

AHHHHMAAAAN! I cannot believe this. After years of coming for their ½ price burgers on Wednesdays & Saturdays, the prices have finally changed. It’s not that big of a difference but to me it is. It’s now 1⁄3 off! I guess the demand got too much over the years so the business side of things had to play it’s part. It’s annoying to see this change but it is what it is. The quality is still great and still original tasting. It’s the price change that shook me. I just have to remove a star for this, I’m truly sorry St. Johns.
