Authentic turo-turo with friendly owners. Miss the PI? Punta ka dito. Call in beforehand to see if they have lechon kawali available, dish selection becomes limited closer to closing time. Great for takeout as well.

My Pinay mother was the oldest of eight and grew up on a small farm on the north shore of Hawaii. No the food at Rene-Rose is not as good as hers, but it actually comes kinda close. It’s definitely authentic and delicous. Killer mongo, very good pinakbet, excellent lechon, delicous menudo, very good fried fish. The bagoong she uses is very good! Not the best neighborhood, but the food is pretty incredible.

If you’re looking for an authentic Filipino food this is the place to be. Turo turo style is what I miss in the Philippines. But man oh man this place serves variety of good entrees. Esp their sinanglaw and lechon kawali are the best. Definitely worth it!

Love this place… a little pinoy resto in Sunnyvale. Food is good… Service is awesome. Manang is so nice and sometimes gives discount.

The food was good but giving a low rating for bad customer service. I was in the area last summer and my friends and I were craving for some quick yummy Filipino food. Found this through Unilocal and seemed to have good reviews. Place was small, hole in the wall kind of restaurant that appears to be family run. Some of their set combos do not work for me for dietary reasons and I asked if I can mix and match and they were inflexible at first but after some behind the counter arguing between the owners, they eventually ended up giving me my order but I think they were overcharging me. I understand that they have a way in running things and I made it a bit complicated but what was really disappointing was what happened afterwards: a group of Filipino guys came in and started ordering their food. They appear to be relatives/friends of the owners and the owners were more than happy to give serve them asap. The problem was that they totally skipped my friend in the line who came after me! Her face was like ‘wtf!!’ In the end, it was awkward because I already have my food while she is still standing in line waiting for the group who cut in front of us to be done with their order. When driving back in the car my friend mentioned that she felt like she was not taken seriously because she was young and there seems to be an age hierarchy plus nepotism amongst Filipinos. Im Filipino, too, and while I was not sure if that was really the case in the situation, I do not feel comfortable going back to this restaurant again.

I maybe bias, but I have been coming here with my Co-workers since 1995, even when they moved to Downtown Mountain View. Kuya Rene and Ate Rose are always pleasant! As most filipinos will tell you, it really depends on your taste for food, or comparison to their parent’s cooking. This place is as close to family cooking as you can get… what I noticed which is unique, is they do their Turon the old fashion way, which is the RIGHT way! they leave it long with a hint of Brown sugar to top it off! Something you see more when you’re NOT in Manila but way out in the suburbs of the Philippines. I may still have favorites for certain dishes, but This place is still my Go-To Restaurant!

Holla… I grew up in a Filipino house, and this is as close to Mom’s island food that I’ve had. Love the buffet style, «choose your own adventure» menu. Everything authentic. Favorites being any adobo’s, fish, and lechon. Pancit, better than Mom’s…shhhh. The Lumpia goes fast, and can take a while to come back out. But it’s really good. Shitty neighborhood but worth seeking out

I went here really hungry and chose this place based on the reviews. The food is good and authentically cooked. The service is a bit slow and sometimes inefficient. The storefront and dining area could use an update but like I said,“the food is good” and the cook is a nice old lady. I’d still come back.

It’s a hit or miss here! The food is ok, nothing special, they do need to cut back on the grease though! Very bad! and the cleanliness of the restaurant is lacking as well! I never ate here(dined in the restaurant) but have ordered«To-Go» twice and the owner is always super nice, friendly, very generous with her servings! I would come back here only if I’m desperately craving Filipino food and need something quick. Their hours are kinda weird too, they close super early!

They’re food is delicious! I walked in there the first time and I guess they knew I was a first timer lol. Their Lechon is so bomb as well as their Sinigang which is sour, the way I like it! The second time I came in, still provided great service and upgraded me to a larger Sinigang bowl for free. I’m not sure if I noticed, but they should add background music and I wish they had taho! Other than that, they have delicious food. I’ll be going back.

Good food, price/quantity of food is lacking(in terms of serving). But great service either way. Will be coming back often. :)

QUICKFILIPINOFOOD Craving quick Filipino food. Is there any in mountain View/Sunnyvale? There seems to be very few and we picked the one with the highest ratings. I had a feeling it was going to be a «point-point» kind of restaurant. We arrived into a small parking lot and walked into this tiny eatery, nothing fancy, just a small mom and pop kind of shop. The staff is very friendly and they gave us a good amount of food and free sinigang sabow. LECHONKAWALI — this was so addicting. yummy crunchy skin with juicy gelatinous meat. I liked how it came in bite size pieces, easier to just folk it and eat it. Good to share with anoter. Highly Recommend. PORKINIHAW — this dish was okay. the pork was swimming in its grease but it did have a nice charred/smoked flavor from the grill. Good for one hungry person or to share with another. Recommend. FRIEDBANGUS — the fish was good but there was little meat and a lot of bones. no easy way eating fried fish but to pick with it with your fork and fingers. Good to share. PANCITBIHON — the serving portion was very generous. They used the tick yellow noodles and not the glass noodles mixed with pieces of shredded chicken. They cook the pancit when ordered unlike all the other dishes. I’m not sure how they measure their salt but it was TOO salty. Will I be back? Probably not as I will try other restaurants in the area. Until the next review…

Pricey and small servings is my main complain. Food is not bad for a dingy place. Service is not bad. It’s just the price, overpriced for small quantity. Update: Dirty floor, look beyond the food counter. Smelly too. Never coming back. Small servings for the price. You are better off at Clarita’s at Duane Ave.

First and last time I would eat here. Prices are up, also give little servings with a lot of rice! I would have thought for a hole in the wall type of spot would taste better. But apparently not.

Just moved in the area and this became my favorite spot. $ 7 for single item, $ 7.50 for split, and $ 8.50 for two. I had the pork adobo and lechon and it was amazing!

This is pretty solid as far as Filipino food goes. It’s actually my go-to place for Filipino food in this area. I believe I’ve had almost everything they offer and nothing has disappointed me. I’ve had the adobo, bistek, mechado, menudo, dinuguan, pinakbet, lechon kiwali, chicken afritada, etc. etc. So they actually make two different adobos – they have a chicken and they have pork. You can ask to get half-half for chicken and pork adobo. I do this for my kids. Oh, I loooooooooove their daing na bangus, which is milkfish marinated in spiced, seasoned vinegar. Soooooooo delicious. The service is kind and attentive! The portions are very generous!

I discovered this little fast food place out of desperation for some Filipino food & rice! When you’re raised in the Philippines, the word rice is a permanent fix– whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner. The portions at Rene’s are more than what Goldilocks gives, plus it’s less $$ here. The owners seem like your mom & pa very sweet & they offer you more food than you can eat(it’s typical for older folks back home), so you end up not with one dish but two more to take home plus some rice, there you go! A complete meal plus leftovers. I’ve been here many times for 3 dishes for $ 20. Not bad! Took me 3 days to finish them all(of course I was the only one eating all of it). Tucked in a little corner off of Fair Oaks adjacent to 7 – 11. If you can’t find it use your GPS.
