hubby wanted greek food and picked this place b/c it was casual and cheap, so we drove to sunnyvale on a sat evening to find a moderately packed café with customers young and old, families, singles, and couples. to share, we ordered the hummus appetizer($ 4.99) and were brought a basket of pita bread with a saucer of hummus. the bread was warm, soft, and cut into wedges, perfect for dipping into the thick, chunky hummus. i could have eaten this all night long! i ordered a chicken gyro wrap($ 7.49) which was a medium-sized pita filled with shredded chicken, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and a couple of french fries(interesting twist). i asked for the sauce on the side since i heard it had some mayo in it, which i’m not a fan of. the gyro was warm and very fresh, and they did not skimp on the amount of meat they gave me! i tried just a tad of the sauce, but honestly, i didn’t even need it to enjoy this wrap! the meat was really well-seasoned and the complementary veggies just made this a delicious wrap for dinner. hubby ordered the beef gyro wrap combo($ 9.99) which was a wrap(same size as mine) with greek-style french fries on the side and a medium soda. the fries had garlic and some other seasoning on it and were quite tasty, without being overly salty or greasy! i didn’t try any of his wrap, but he thoroughly enjoyed every bite. with tax and tip, our meal was a little over $ 27, which was such a great deal and we both left happy with full bellies. even though this restaurant is in a strip shopping center, parking was pretty easy for us as we parked just steps from the main entrance.

Heard about The Greek Spot on , lots of rave reviews, so gave it a try. It is owned and operated by a family, clearly dedicated to providing great Greek cuisine at reasonable prices. We ordered the chicken Souvlaki, lamb/Beef Kabobs, Dolmades and home made greek cookies, all delicious and only 5 minutes from the house… a new reason not to cook… yeah!

I am Greek and always on the lookout for Greek restaurants in the area. One can only go to Evia — the snazzy greek restaurant– only on special occasions. I had yet to find a casual money-savy Greek restaurant near me. My fiancé and I came across this greek bistro accidentally. We were walking up the street and I noticed their sign. A greek place close to our place? No way. We investigated further and turns out, yes it is a greek restaurant! You walk in and immediately are struck by the beautiful décor — the rich ocean blue and white, with beautiful paintings of Greece. You order at the front which is convenient and find a table while your food is being prepared. We ordered the beef souvlaki plate with a horiatiki salad. Delicious! They are very generous on the meat, and the potatoes are to die for. We left feeling very satisfied and not too full where you can barely walk, which is always a good sign. The one thing I would say that turned me off a little bit was the attitude of the owner. I tried to make small talk with him(me being Greek and all and not have met many Greeks here) and he was a bit too rude for my taste. Not sure if he was having a bad day or what not, I would recommend next time to be a little friendlier and warmer to his customers. They also forgot to give us our salad, and I had to remind the attendant that we are missing our salad. The service was a little slow. That’s why I give this place 4 stars instead of 5. Who knows, maybe it was a one-time thing.

Did the work lunch thing here last week. This is a place order then pick up at counter joint. No table service. The menu’s exactly what you’d expect. Gyro variations, falafel, hummus, tzatziki and falafel are all on deck. Items that standout are the four or five different varieties of gyro-chicken, lamb, pork or lamb and beef. They also make a fried zucchini ball dish. They have a soda fountain and a selection of bottled drinks including greek brands. There’s a ton of seating past the counter, and it was kept pretty clean. The dining space is open and well lit, surrounded on two sides by plate glass windows. We came in at the end of what they tell me is a standard lunch rush. From noon to one or so there’ll be a line ranging from 3 – 11 people deep, as this is a popular lunch spot. For every one person eating in there’ll be two ordering for take out. There’s a small row of seats facing the order counter for people waiting for their orders. It’s not a great spot to wait as the spacing for people waiting to order and the waiting for order section is very small. At lunch orders come out pretty quickly. No real waiting there. The food quality overall is good, the gyro’s and falafel are spot on. The zucchini balls don’t have the crunch of the falafel, but have good texture and flavor. The tzatziki is a perfect pairing for the zucchini balls. That was some good thinking on the part of the owners/management. I’m not a fan that the hummus is only available as a side dish. Seems like that could be included with the dishes especially the falafel. Assuming you want fries or hummus with a gryo you’ll be looking at 15 or so dollars at a minimum. The mousaka and salads seemed to be a little weak– the flavor wasn’t quite what I’d hoped for. Still, overall a decent four stars.

Feeling greek? Ehh you better look elsewhere. Came here for lunch and tried a chicken gyro with a side order of zucchini balls. The gyro was okay, not enough chicken, and the chicken was dry. The zucchini balls are fried and looked good on the picture, but sadly it was not crispy. 6 balls for $ 6, kind of expensive and not tasty. This spot is okay for a quick grab and go, plenty of seating, the food is average though. Also tried the baklava, which was way too sweet and drenched in sugar syrup, plus the dough was soggy from the sugar solution. My favorite greek spot in this area is still Asteria grill.

I am always glad to see another Greek place open up near me! Went with the family for dinner the other night and was quite happy with the meal. My husband and I both tried the combo kabob dinner, and it had a good amount of meat on the plate(generosity on the meat is always a winner!) there were 3 kabobs: chicken, pork and ground beef, some pita bread, tzatziki sauce, and fries, and chopped fresh tomatoes and onions. Plenty of food for a big appetite, and everything was great. I enjoyed that the sauce was very garlicky! That is really authentic Greek. We shared a Mythos Greek beer(nice). My daughter tried the gyro sandwich and liked it(kid approved!). And of course we could not resist the loukoumades(honey balls) for dessert. They were wonderful, fresh, hot, nutty and honey-licious. The restaurant is fairly new, so I assume there will be a bit of a learning curve on some things. The only thing that I found a bit not so good, was the food came out a little on the luke-warm side. Not sure if it sat a while before being served? But even despite this, I really liked the place, and will definitely come back and try them again.

This place is in our rotation for when we don’t have time to cook and want something good for dinner. We’re pretty much regulars to where the person taking our phone order knows my husband’s name. Our favorite is the lamb & beef gyro, but we do love their pita and calamari appetizers. We also love their reasonable prices and it’s the reason we keep coming back for more. Good food at great prices.

The Greek Spot is located in an unassuming corner spot of a strip mall off of Mary and El Camino like most other good things in the South Bay. We came during lunch and it wasn’t too busy, like I had expected it to be. Ordering was quick and easy, I got lamb souvlaki and my bf got a lamb & beef gyro w/a soda and greek fries. The ambiance of the place is nice and clean, lots of white paint and blue chairs make it sort of serene and classy, despite the fact that it’s a place where you order at the counter which I thought was kind of nice. The food was good, well seasoned and well cooked. My lamb came out pretty rare(I like that sort of thing so absolutely no complaints from me) but if you generally like your mean a little more done, It might be wise to ask them to cook it that way just so there are no surprises. My main complaint is that the amount of souvlaki you get is very meager. There were only 5 total, very small chunks of lamb which was disappointing and there isn’t much else going on in the pita to make up for the lack of protein. That said it does come with bell peppers, onions and a tomato which were tasty accoutrements. The Greek fries were really tasty, the feta was very soft and went well with their crispy fries. Pretty solid experience overall. If you’re on the fence, I say go check it out.

Overall closer to a 3.5 but still a fairly delicious lunch. The gyros here are a safe bet, but(IMO) not as good as the ones at Yiassoo or Gyros, Burgers, & More – because they’re a tad smaller and also not served with any Harissa or hot sauce other than the bottles of Sriracha and Tabasco. It was a touch dry for my liking. Basically I prefer a messier and slightly spicier Gyro… so take that into consideration. Girlfriend ordered a Lamb Souvlaki that was really delicious. The meat was tender and juicy tho a bit sparse. Best part may have been the Feta on the Greek Fries, it tasted super fresh and creamy. I threw those in my Gyro to take it to the next level.

I’m so happy I tried the Greek Spot — it filled a sizeable culinary hole in the Sunnyvale/Mountain View area. I have gyro cravings on a regular basis and while there are plenty of Mediterranean places around, there was no Greek place nearby to satisfy that itch for gyro. .. until Greek Spot came along. Food is very tasty and affordable, and came out of the kitchen fast. The Greek Spot Special Plate, with lamb and beef gyro, a pita, salad, and rice, is ~$ 11. I got a chicken skewer with pita bread for just ~$ 4. The Spicy Feta Spread with pita triangles was $ 5. All the meat was very flavorful and well-seasoned, and hit the spot in the most satisfying way. The pita bread was really good as well, warm, soft, and chewy. It also serves beer and wine, and stella on tap was $ 4. I quite enjoy the décor and ambiance of the Greek Spot. It feels like a busy food stand with a bright, well-designed dining area. The white-blue color theme was casual and uplifting, and families and friends pulled tables together for a casual evening meal. The owner is really friendly and shared with us a delicious Greek donut hole desert(loukoumades) with honey and walnut drizzled on top(like beignet). We will be regulars here!

Hits the spot for a gyro sandwich if you’re in the Mountain View — Sunnyvale area. Ordered the gyro combo(gyro sandwich, fries & drink) and Falafel Sandwich. Gyro sandwich was pretty satisfying, although the sauces were so so. The fries are not so good, starchy and soggy. Would recommend that they soak their cut up potatoes in ice cold water first/longer. Falafel was unlike any falafel I’ve seen before. Looks more like hush puppies. And very moist inside. Not bad, just different. Overall not nearly as good Yiassoo, but a welcome quick eat spot when you’re in the mood for Gyros.

Here’s what you get if you order a souvlaki: a thick piece of bread(not pita bread) with tasty seasoning, awkwardly wrapped around a few lumps of well-cooked meat, plus both raw tomatoes and grilled tomatoes, and both raw onions and grilled onions. And some sauce. It’s got the meat, but it’s got the veggies(if tomatoes and onions count) too. If that’s what you want, this is the place. Hope that your order number gets called out by the guy with the loud voice, cause it’s kind of noisy in there and hard to hear.

We loved it! We both had a gyro with beef and lamb. Typically it comes with red onion and tomato, we switched the onion for lettuce. Warm, and made with delicious fresh flavors. Yum! We got the Greek fries with the meal and soda for one order and split them. The Greek fries was made with oregano and feta cheese. We also had a delicious phyllo dough and cheese appetizer called: «Tiropita.» Buttery-crisp goodness in our opinion. There will be a next time! We want to try their Greek lemon soup, loukoumades(dessert balls like donuts with syrup and walnuts), Greek drinks and their plates with skewers. Many things to look forward to. Return Visit 2 Lamb & beef gyro was delish.(Pictured left) We tried the beef souvlaki.(Pictured right) We both asked for no onions. We ordered the spinach/feta cheese Spanakopita. Yum! Loukamades(Greek donut balls with Greek honey) We asked for no walnuts(allergies). We were patient even though we were hungry. We came at a busy time. We waited for about 40 minutes and were about to ask about our order. A host came over and apologized for the wait and said a worker said we already received our food. Oops. We didn’t receive anything yet. He apologized and felt really bad so he treated us for two kinds of Greek Beer(Mythos and Zeo) and a Greek yogurt with honey to go. Mythos: Pale Ale-like and the best! Zeo: Pilsner with a slightly sharper/salty taste. We ate and enjoyed our food and treats. Safe to say we are yet again impressed by their food and hospitality.

Finally a decent gyro spot in sunnyvale… Not better than yassaio in Cupertino. But comparable to agape. Ordered the gyro lamb n beef wrap. I like the fact that they use the authentic gyro bread. Not that thin middle Eastern tortillas that other«Greek» places use… Each wrap is freshly made n the meat is sliced directly from the rotating gyro warmer… Their signature touch is the fries in gyro n lightly seasoned with a Cajun spice. Cons… Their Taziki sauce is bland. Could use some dill n freshly cut cucumbers…

This place is a nice addition to this shopping center. Prior to them moving in, the space was occupied by a Persian/Afghani restaurant. Before Greek Spot opened up, some major remodeling was done. It definitely paid off, in my opinion, as the new restaurant is a lot more welcoming than the old restaurant. I love Greek food, so I had to stop by to see what this place is all about. To begin with, the owners, a Greek family, seem to have put a lot of effort into making this small joint as authentically Greek as possible. You’ll notice that all the chairs are painted either blue or white, reminiscent of the colors of the flag of Greece. Additionally, there are canvas pictures on the wall of Greece and the Mediterranean. And, not only that, but there was Greek music playing too. Facts: * You begin by ordering and then seating yourself afterward. As soon as your food is ready, they bring it to you. * Everything is cooked to order. As such, it may take a little bit before your food arrives. * They have gyros, souvlaki, salads, soups, desserts and more. Drink-wise, they have water, soda, beer and wine. Pros: + Prices are very reasonable for what you get. + All the food is prepared right in front of you — personally, I like that. + On my two visits so far, each employee was very friendly. + Thus far, I’ve ordered the beef souvlaki. It was quite flavorful with big chunks of beef and plenty of tzatziki sauce, in addition to the tomatoes and onions within the pita bread. Cons: — On my second visit, my beef souvlaki was not warm at all. To be clear, it wasn’t cold and I wasn’t expecting it to be piping hot either. But I was definitely expecting there to be some warmth to it. 4 stars

I love gyro and had been in search of a good gyro place in the sunnyvale-mountain view area for ages. I was excited when I spotted the greek food coming soon board earlier and was waiting for this place to open anxiously. This place did not disappoint me at all. The place is neat and the décor is simple yet awesome. The food was great. I ordered the gyro plate which was huge and could be easily shared by two people. The staff seemed friendly too.

Greek Spot is a wonderful addition to Sunnyvale that offers good customer service, a bright and clean restaurant interior, and tasty food. During my first visit, I ordered a Lamb & Beef Gyro($ 7.49), an order of Fries($ 2.99), and a piece of Baklava($ 2.99). The gyro was packed full of fresh vegetables that included tomatoes, red onions, tzatziki sauce, and fries that were nestled next to a juicy mixture of lamb and beef slices. Additionally, the pita bread that was very soft and complimented the gyro very well(4⁄5 stars). The fries were seasoned with oregano, and they were fried almost to perfection(4.5÷5 stars). Regarding the baklava, it was sweet and layered perfectly, and it’s big enough to warrant the $ 2.99 price tag. During my second visit, I ordered a Chicken Gyro Combo that came with a chicken gyro, fries and a bottled drink($ 9.99), as well as an order of Spanakopita($ 5.99). After making a mistake and telling the cashier«NO» after he offered the combo meal during my first visit, I made sure to get the combo meal this time, as you’re basically getting a free drink in the process. While the lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, fries, and pita bread were fresh, the gyro definitely needed more sauce added to it, as it was a little dry in certain parts. The chicken within the gyro was cooked nicely, but again, the lack of sauce made everything seem a little dry around the outer edges of the gyro(3⁄5 stars). The fries were good again, nothing more to add(4⁄5 stars). Regarding the spanakopita, it was just okay; I didn’t hate it, but I wouldn’t order it again(3⁄5 stars). Overall, this is definitely a restaurant I’ll eat at a lot in the future, as I can taste the difference in quality between Greek Spot and some of the Greek restaurants that I frequent in Downtown San Jose.

Not better than Yiassoo. :-( Ordered Lamb and Beef Gyros $ 7.49, just a sandwich does not come with fries. Side of fries w/blend of herbs $ 2.99. They do not provide tzatziki sauce on the side like Yiassoo. They only provide ketchup and hot sauce. My Gyros did not have much meat and was very dry. They also put some fries in my Gyro which seemed cheap. Where’s the meat?! It was tough to eat without the side of tzatziki sauce. You don’t get a ton of fries for $ 2.99, just a small handful. They are crunchy and taste like herbs. The soda dispenser is difficult to get to if there is a line of people at the register. No décor on the walls but I imagine they will add to it as they get in the groove of things. It can get very loud when a lot of people are there. The tables are nice and big. The seats are hard but it’s fast food, not meant to sit around for a long time. I want this place to be successful because i live down the street and Sunnyvale needs a good Greek restaurant. Please provide the side of tzatziki sauce for free and I can see myself becoming a regular. As of now, I won’t be going back soon. I’ll check in after a month or so.

Good new shawarma place to add to the variety of mediterranean foods in this area. I went at lunch time the other day and there was no wait. They had just been opened for 2 days. I ordered my gyro at the counter and went to the bathroom to wash my hands and my food was ready when I came out. Talk about prompt service! The beef/lamb gyro had good flavor and the pita was nice and toasty. The only thing they could improve upon is maybe adding a couple more slices of meat.

Amazing hospitality! I love their menu and how detailed it is. Great prices! They have an amazing condiments section very neat and clean! Appetizer we had the humus and pita bread. Might I just say, the BESTHUMMUS I’ve tried around the ENTIREBAYAREA! Can’t wait to come back specifically for the hummus! I had, the Pork Gyro combo which was amazingly tasty. Meat was so tender and flavorful. Friend had the Beef Souvlaki which was also amazing the tzatziki sauce was so amazing and flavorful. We also had the The Greek Spot Special Plate that came with salad beef skewer and rice also pita bread. The salad was so fresh and green the dressing and feta cheese was so delicious. The skewer was cooked perfectly and the rice was very soft and flavorful. The Greek Spot is definitely one of my top Greek places to go to as of today!
