A cross between a pub and family-friendly restaurant. OK beer selection. Not much of a bar — very limited liquor selection. The BBQBLT burger was very good. Atmosphere — nice 4 sided bar. TVs everywhere lending a «sports bar» type atmosphere. Location — just off a main thoroughfare near shopping centers. Obvious, well-lit sign makes it easy to find. Nice place, although I would t go out of my way to come here again.

Always consistently good and reasonably priced. It’s our go to restaurant when we want a real meal and don’t want to spend an a and leg. It’s the place we take our kids to eat out and not break the bank. Good spot!

I love this place! I think more than anything I love the friendly staff. From Connie and Mike(and I think the other bartender is Kevin?) at the bar, to the mangers that greet you as you are coming in or leaving. The food is very tasty and so far I haven’t had a meal I didn’t enjoy. We love coming for bingo nights with Connie, she makes it a fun time. My only 2 complaints are that they don’t offer a variety of happy hour food choices, you only have about 3 food choices. My other complaint is that during happy hour they allow children at the bar. While this is a family friendly establishment, children should not be allowed at the bar nor sit at the bar(I believe this is against the law to allow children to sit at a bar).

Great food. Absolutely horrible service. The hostess was rude. Our waitress was slow to respond. Tables were Dirty and still Had Dishes On them.

Come to trivia night on Thursdays at 7:30! Lots of fun and good deals on food. 50 cent wings, half off«small plates»(ex. potato skins, pretzels w/dip, boneless wings, etc.). Wings are great and the rest of the food is decent and reasonably priced. Everything you hope to get from a chain restaurant.

99 has gotten better over the years… The menu has definitely improved over time, as well as the service. I was in last night for a quick dinner, We shared the chicken tenders and potato skins. For an entrée I had the chicken broccoli Mac n cheese. And it was delicious. My boyfriend had the meatloaf which he enjoyed very much. The best part about 99 was the server we had. If it weren’t for the sever I would rate this place a 4 star, it is a chain restaurant after all. But Megan, went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience there as possible. She was extremely friendly and helpful. She knew everything about the menu and was able to answer any question we had. She suggested I ordered the Mac and cheese, and I am so glad I did. We will be back for the food, but mostly because Megan was such a doll. Outstanding service! Request for Megan next time you’re in!

I’m giving this place four stars because it succeeds in doing exactly what it tries to do. It is unfair to compare Ninety-Nine to more upscale places or to non-chain family owned restaurants. It’s not gourmet, and it’s not trying to be. It lies somewhere between a family pub restaurant and a fast-food chain. I have eaten at this chain a couple of times, and my experience has been consistent. The food is prepared as if they give a damn, with good ingredients that do not taste like they have been riddled with chemicals. The portions are reasonable to large, and I left lunch feeling pretty full. The refills on non-alcoholic beverages are free and provided without even asking. And, by the way, service was excellent. I was greeted with a warm welcome and I was made to feel right at home.

Simple, no fan fare… reasonable prices. Cool in a pinch. Their soups are terrific though! Popcorn appetizers are yummy :)

Was craving a Guiness and driving by at same time so stopped. This is generally not my kind of place but for some reason I have returned here sporadically throughout the years. Maybe for the Guiness? I don’t know. Tonight, the bartender lady introduced herself and shook our hands, which was super nice and welcoming. The menu isn’t really veggie friendly but the salads and dressings are good. It’s a comfortable place and by the time we left, the establishment was jam packed, so they are doing something right for locals in the area. Oh, there is a really fun thing here — these huge, huge mini kegs for you to drink. I had never seen anything like this before and they looked great!

Came by last week during the madness and aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. My bf and I were on the road for work, when we decided it was lunchtime. We tried to go to Cracker Barrel, but they didn’t have power. We ended up at this 99 in Stratford because they actually had power and food. At 2:30 on a Weds, this place was absolutely packed. I’m sure many people just needed to get out of their house and have a hot meal. including me! We sat at the crowded Bar, and I have to say, Lisa the bartender was awesome. She was very attentive despite the heavy volume of customers and was friendly. We had the Gold Fever wing app w. blue cheese and celery. For lunch, I had the Mac and cheese with broccoli and chicken and my boyfriend had the Honey BBQ chicken wrap. The wings were great, and Mac and cheese pretty tasty. The food wasn’t the best I’ve ever had by far, but the experience was a good one. I think friendly faces and a warm barstool after a huge hurricane ripped thru NYC was just what the doctor ordered. Thanks to Lisa and all the friendly people at this 99!

I had the ny strip steak, potatoes and corn. My husband had the balsamic chicken, wedge salad and broccoli. Everything was good and came out in a nice timely fashion. Server was very nice. Atmosphere casual. We enjoyed everything very much!

I’ve been here a number of times. I’ve eaten in both the bar and restaurant. It is very kid-friendly in the restaurant and they really try to be part of the community. You can usually catch a game in the bar. They are pro-Yankees but they probably don’t know any better. The people who work there are very professional and the place is run very well. The bathrooms are very clean and it is clear that the restaurant is very well managed and the staff very well trained. Don’t expect any deviations from the menu. They don’t do that. It appears as though the goal is to be consistent with every other restaurant in the chain and that makes sense to me. The menu changes constantly, but if you have dietary needs you might want to check it out before going there. Last time I went there were no real vegan/vegetarian options so we ordered mashed potatoes and broccoli which were very good. I think there might have been a hummus plate as well. Usually the dietary restrictions don’t matter to me so I’ve tried almost everything on the menu over the past couple of years. The baked potatoes come pre-salted on the outside. I don’t mind that but some people do. The Salmon, steaks, pasta, burgers are all very good and the coconut shrimp here are the best I’ve had anywhere. Dessert is typically good as are their soups. All in all, you will probably find something you like and you will love the people who work there. It’s a great place to meet up after work or to take a bunch of kids before a movie. Give it a shot when you’re in the area.

Pretty cool restaurant to eat, I have to admit that I thought not that highly about 99. I don’t know why, but driving by it never really appealed to me. A friend took me for lunch and I have to say, that my assumptions were wrong. Like they say: «Assumption is the mother of all screw-ups.» The popcorn as ‘welcome’ snack was a bit weird, it threw me off just a little. The service is okay, we had to wait a while for our orders, and it was not busy at all. The food(chicken wrap) was of good quality, and of great taste.

When I went to 99 restaurant in Stratford CT by the theater I went with my mom because she never went there. When the check came I went up to get change for $ 100.00 and order another drink my waiter comes up to me and says«You cannot take alcoholic beverages home.» I said I know that I just want another drink added to my bill. She said ok no problem, like hello I did mention to you I’ve been here about 60 times before, I know you cannot take alcoholic beverages outside a restaurant let alone a big glass with an umbrella in it how would I look doing that? So as I was almost to my car she says to me «I’m gonna need that glass back!!» excuse me?! «The glass you took I’m gonna need it back» I go up to her and show her my bag and showed her I didn’t have it, I was so offended. Why would I take a glass from your establishment?! I’ve been there plenty of times the manager waiters waitresses know me by name and face. I’ve never had an issue there before, I’d really hate to say this but I think Barbra pulled a race card on me maybe because I’m Hispanic she probably thought there was a chance a glass would go missing? I was very well dressed it’s not like I’m some thug off the street and I am also very well spoken. That was uncalled for and disgusting

Not sure what to make of the abysmal reviews on this one. Perhaps it is that people are expecting a Caddilac and getting a Camry. Restaurant 99 is a good basic steakhouse which markets itself to hip 20 and 30-somethings. They have both a bar area, and a family-seating area, both with plenty of TVs showing sports of all kinds. The menu is steakhouse lite, with steaks, chicken, fish, and salads, as well as a good number of appetizers and specialty drinks.(I am a teetotaler, so I can’t speak to the drinks or bar area.) Free popcorn is offered with any order. And the staff is friendly, competent, and will customize ANY order for you. 99 is not a top-shelf restaurant, but is a solid option if you want a meal after seeing a movie at the nearby theaters or if you want a light lunch while shopping in downtown Stratford. It is easy for a family to eat at a fair price.

I had a bad experience at 99 too. We never got the popcorn. The food was crappy. The service was awful. I used to like that place. Now it has really gone downhill. I will never go back there again.

Foolishly I ordered a glass of milk to go with my entrée(which we shall dissect later) And the milk was RANCID. I called the waitress over and she apologized and spoke to her manager. Then her manager came over, sampled the milk and then told me that the milk was FINE. I could NOT believe this. I insisted that it was spoiled and that I would like another glass of milk, but the manager continually told me the milk was not bad. I have been drinking milk my whole life and consider myself a bit of a connosieur even, this milk was nasty.(I should also note that I NEVER send anything back, but the problem here was that in my whole dining life experience I’ve never received rotten food) Funnily enough, when the waitress brought a new glass of milk, she told me that the first one she’d given me was the last bit in the jug… if i needed anymore evidence, that was it. Then the entrée came which was a chicken salad with multi-colored tortilla chips broken into spinach and mandarine orange segments. I’ll take the hit for that one, I should not have ordered it. It really was not pleasant, and the chips poking into my gums with every bite was agonizing. I would have maybe given this place a 2 if the management had handled the milk problem with some class, alas that was not the case, and therefore it gets a 1.

I was expecting this to be like a Ruby Tuesday’s or Chili’s. I have to admit it was closer to a Denny’s, except they had beer. They give you popcorn instead of bread or chips and salsa like one might expect. That was a nice unexpected surprise. They had a few beers, except I was disappointed they didn’t have any local varieties. I ordered the chicken fajitas, and they were fair. I could see some flavored salt on the chicken, which gave it a yellow hue. That was a bit of a turn off. The server was so nice, and is bumping this to 3 stars. She was very attentive, and apologized for the wait(there wasn’t one). She came by often to see how I was, and was generally friendly. But it wasn’t phony or ingenuine just to get a nicer tip. She asked my name, and as I was leaving said«Bye Stacey! Hope you come back again!» I thought that was a nice touch.(Maybe I’m easily bought.) I was the only person under 50 here, maybe it was because it was 3:30 on a weekday. But the geezers at the table next to me drove me insane. I could hardly read my book.(I was eating alone, traveling for work stinks.)
