I really enjoyed the wine with an awesome view from the patio and deck area. I agree with some of the other reviews, that the staff was somewhat inept and slow. But overall my experience here was pretty good. I recommend checking it out; I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Had a wonderful time at Pedernales Cellars during our latest escapade. The wine was quite good, especially the Vognier. The atmosphere was easy and fun, so much so that the tasting session became an impromptu party with new friends. Without a doubt the highlight of the visit was the bartender Vicky, who’s knowledge of the products and delightful company made the visit wonderful! Come on by and have a great time.

Came here with a group of African American women for a wine tour. Granted we were 15 minutes late for our tasting, however the room was still not ready for our party. Towards the end of our tasting one of the ladies shouted out that we had to hurry up because we were late(even though they weren’t ready). We were a party if 22 women and the group after us had a party of 9. Afterwards the cashier approached our organizer in front of the group announcing how much money was due for our tasting… unprofessional and classless. Our experience was horrible. The scenery is beautiful, but the customer service is awful. No one in our party bothered to purchase any wines from this facility as a result of the service.

I decided to read a few other reviews to figure out if my experience was isolated or not. I have realized that it was not isolated. The only positive about this place is the outside area for lounging and the live music singer who was decent. The service was terrible. They were not that busy and they just do not even acknowledge my presence while I stood at the bar just waiting. When who I assume was the manager came to see what the hold up was, the Waiter who was closest to me had the audacity to say that she was helping me when she clearly has not even said hello for the 10 minutes I have been there. The manager ended up helping me. I would suggest they fire all of their staff and start fresh because service SUCKED! I will not be returning here or telling anyone to go here.

This was our very first visit to any wine tasting venue in the Fredericksburg area, and we are just hoping that not every place is like this. We were not greeted when we entered. We walked around not really knowing what to do. No one attempted to help us. Once we decided to just stand at the bar, it took forever to get someone to ask us what we wanted. Our servers switched on us because the first one was not serving us in a timely fashion. Keep in mind there were not that many people there and a good amount of servers behind the bar. The second server was rude, did not talk to us, did not even really make eye contact, and did not even explain any of the wines to us. We just really felt unwelcome. Other people were offered oyster crackers and to have their glasses wrapped and put in a bag while we had to ask for these things after waiting awhile. I was very disappointed having come here first as a relative had recommended the place. The wine seemed bitter and the whole experience was unenjoyable. Will not be coming back or purchasing their wine.

We did a tasting of the reserve wines. Two of the four wines were unavailable. Two were ports. One required the purchase of 5 bottles of the regular wines which we did not taste. Solid Tempranillo base. Great staff. Pricey but very good. I felt a little taken aback by the fact that I tasted unavailable wines. It’s like promoting the newer vintages on my dime. Also, requiring the purchase of 5 bottles of their regular wines was weird. Don’t do the reserve tasting. I felt ripped off. Update: To be clear, we were not told when we purchased the reserved«Red» tasting that half of the wines were ports. We were also not informed, until the tasting was nearly over, that the reserve wines were generally not available or had other requirements to purchase.

Gorgeous views, some of the best Texas wines but the guy who did our tasting shouldn’t have been behind the bar. Poor people skills, short with us. My husband asked for an extra splash, he barely got a sip. Guy seemed annoyed after. Didn’t even offer to give us our glasses, just put them in the dishwasher. I still joined the wine club because of the views, wine quality &the fact that in the future I can do tastings in the club room where he won’t be.

A little snooty for a Texas winery, but the Viognier and the views are superb. Seriously, no need for white tablecloths and reservations, just focus on folks enjoying the patio views.

Wonderful wines! David taught us so much about the growing process. I usually only drink reds, so I was surprised that I liked their whites and dessert wine. I loved the Viognier, Tempranillo Reserve and Moscato. We will definitely come back when we are in the area.

Great place! Booked a wine tasting as part of a bachelorette party. They have a separate wine tasting room that we reserved and it definitely made our group feel special. The staff were so nice. Kyle served our group and he was awesome. We were a few minutes late, about 3, and felt a little rushed to get out of the reserved room because of the next party coming in. But we bought a few bottles of wine after and stayed in the main room. The vineyard is lovely and I wish we could of enjoyed the patio out front. It was just too windy. I would definitely recommend this place! Wine tasting was $ 15, included 6 wines on the menu and 1 holiday wine(this was a surprise and was delicious) and then signature wine glass.

The service was terrible. We were the only ones at the bar yet the man serving us did not get that wine tasting was not the event of our entire day. Maybe that is unusual! We are from Sonoma County California where wine is serious business; Pour it, swirl it, slurp it and move on. He didn’t get how to move on! We bought 2 bottles; Tempranillo Reserve($ 49.) and the Stonewall Glögg($ 19.99). The Glögg port is remarkable. I wish I had some in my hand right now.

My fella used to not like wine, but I cured him of that ailment as quick as I could. Now he’s a full fledged wine-o like me. Love! We ventured over to this winery on New Years weekend during our little honeymoon. The winery itself is probably the prettiest in the area, really as beautiful as Becker, and it was tasty tasty tasty. Tasty enough we joined their little wine club and are expecting our first delivery in March. My only regret was the weather was cold and rainy so we couldn’t just sit outside and relax and sip another glass. Next time! :)

My favorite winery in Central Texas. Excellent wines, great view, knowledgeable and friendly staff. We stayed next door at Rose Hill Manor, which is walking distance away. Perfect.

If there was a no star option that’s what this winery would receive. The wine may be great! I wouldn’t know. We waited for 20 minutes for a testing of their reverse and the white hair lady and the gentleman behind the bar ignored us and never even gave us the time of day. We put $ 14.00 dollars on the bar for the cheese and cracks and left. Julie there was one other couple at the bar besides us and two employees working the bar. The busy excuse doesn’t work and only adds to the negative experience.

We are members for a reason! This place is amazing! Live bands and smashing grapes like I love Lucy! Not to mention the view! Doesn’t get any better and can’t wait to come back again and again!

As we kept touring wineries along 290, I came to the conclusion that there were some places that were serious about their wine and others that just wanted to get you drunk. Count Pedernales in with the«serious about wine» camp. The staff knows wine, loves wine, and wants to share it all with you. If you want to learn a little about soil and a lot about what you’re tasting as you sip, soak it all in here because they’re more than happy to teach you about what you’re drinking and what it pairs well with. The views are striking. The wine isn’t cheap, but you get what you pay for. The Tempranillo in particular is totally worth it. We weren’t able to get into the reserve tasting(a sit-down sommelier led tasting) because it was booked solid but we got fabulous attention from the staff in the main tasting room. Put this on your short list of places to visit.

Pedernales Cellars is another one of my favorite wineries. Set off the main hwy it is a beautiful drive during the spring. Located just a few miles from the LBJ Presidential Estate. During the spring the wold flowers along the roads are beautiful. A MUSTDO. They too have proven over the years to have some award winning wines.

My review would actually be 4.5 stars for the regular tasting, easily going to 5 for the«Reserve Room» experience(Sat-Sun by appointment). The cost almost doubles($ 25) but this is readily offset by the quality of the wines being offered as well as the individualized attention and education provided. Bill was able to provide us with great insights into the awesome wines being tasted as well anexcellent overview of the ever-changing wine landscape in Texas and a couple of great recommendations for other«hidden gems» to investigate locally. A beautiful patio/grounds makes this one of our favorites, very likely to repeat again and again.

Pedernales Cellars isn’t my favorite, but it’s a solid option on the trail. It’s a little off the beaten 290 path, which certainly helps with the ambiance and unobstructed views. The little tasting room certainly was bustling, loud, and a touch chaotic. The tasting service felt a little prefunctory, but at least the wines were described with a few tasting notes. Although we didn’t purchase any, the wines are above average, especially for Texas, with an above average price tag. For me, the value ratio wasn’t quite there. The biggest thing I appreciate about Perdernales Cellars is their committment to Texas appellation and labeling honesty. For that sirs, I tip my hat to you.

The tasting room is beautiful and the expansive shaded porch with a variety of comfy seating and a fantastic spanning view over the 290 ranch lands watching the clouds pass by on the horizon is the highlight of this place. For 12.95 you can receive a tasting of the 9 wines and keep a souvenir glass. The price for the overall quality I didn’t feel matched. The best price point was the Viognier, which was also one of standouts for me of the 9. Also, I enjoy a good dessert wine, and the Texas Ruby, a non –vintage Ruby«Port» was memorable to me. Overall, an OK experience. I like that they use all Texas grapes and are family owned. But the best part was sitting outside with that view, some ITunes music, and a glass of Viognier.
