Love this place. My coworkers and I come here once a week for lunch. The lunch prices are unbeatable and the waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. I’ve tried most things on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. Would highly recommend.

I love Indian food. It’s probably my favorite style of ethnic cuisine. So, I’m always looking for good places locally. This place isn’t just good, it’s excellent. Everything is fresh and perfectly spiced. They have a fantastic gluten free selection and vegetarian selection as well as delicious naan for those who can do gluten and probably the best chicken tikka masala I have ever had. I didn’t ask, but the mango lassi really tastes like it is made from scratch and without anything artificial. The over-all selection is vast without being too overwhelming like some places. The service is prompt and polite. The prices are extremely reasonable. I will be frequenting this spot for as long as I live in this area :)

It’s been a while since I’ve written a review of this place, and after visiting today for lunch, I definitely felt the need to update and raise it from 4 to 5 stars. The wait staff is always very attentive, kitchen very quick at preparing meals, and the price can not be beat. They have fabulous lunch specials, and have been offering a nice complimentary small-plate the last few times I’ve been in, which is delicious. Can’t recommend this place enough. They offer plenty of low/no spice options, should that not be your thing…

I have been coming here since it opened. The owners participate in local town fairs, bringing their delicacies to the Victorian Fair in Melrose and others. I have always found them to be friendly and attentive. Great food, nice atmosphere, full bar, and delivery service. They catered my last birthday party and delivered a ton of food for the price. My guests left full and happy!

I would give this place more stars if I could. This is my go to Indian place(others just don’t compare!) The service here is great and the food is delicious. My husband and I come here for all our celebrations and have never been disappointed! The tikka marsala is amazing. Don’t walk here… run in and taste the delicious food. You will be glad you did!

Came here with a coupon which was honored without hesitation. The place is not very pretty, or romantic in any way, but the food(the most important part) is very good with the perfect balance between flavor, texture and«spicyness» Portions are generous. We had Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Saag, rice and naan. Everything was delicious and well prepared. Our server was nice, but extremely shy/quiet, sometimes difficult to hear. The Indian music playing on the background was a bit annoying, there is better Indian music out there. Would definitely recommend for an Indian meal when the ambiance is not too important.

This is my gold standard for which I compare all other Indian restaurants. Rang is the Best! No one else lives up to their food. I’ve been going here for eight years now and I’ve never been disappointed. The staff is always incredibly friendly and after all these years they know us by name. The Malai Kofta is my absolute favorite! The sauce is nothing short of fabulous! This is my go to place, my Ive gotta have it at least every other week place. I always take my friends here. It’s great fun to introduce them to Indian food.

I hate to give 2 stars but it was an overall poor experience when I went to Rang on Sunday. I don’t carry a lot of cash and I felt really pressured by and almost an attitude of annoyance from the man who rang up my order. He was going on about cash and a discount and why didn’t I have $ 30 on me. How about none of your business? I always didn’t like their new way to pay as it makes you select a tip and I don’t think just ringing a person up is anything that needs tipping. The food wasn’t that great. They’ve changed their biryani recipe. Mild was pretty spicy and it just tasted different than usual. The rest was okay but it’s awfully expensive for the amount of food you get and now the quality wasn’t that great. Honestly, if we had other nearby Indian choices I’d definitely try them over Rang at this point.

First time eating Indian Food. My girlfriend and I loved it, the food was great and the experience was equally as good. The weight staff(in particular the waiter named Raj) was outstanding as they catered to your needs and engaged in conversations. As a resident of Stoneham I will definitely go back!

To be fair, it IS the only Indian Food Restaurant within a half hour of my house, which is sad. Happily, the food is great, and worth the drive(we typically to do takeout). Great people who know us as soon as we call. The food varies in quality, but more often than not, they get it right. And who DOESN’T love good Indian. Check them out!

I keep seeing advertisements for this place sent in the mail, so I finally tried them. Ordered delivery. Mulligatawny Soup — Very odd flavor, very bland, it tasted like it was Butternut Squash Soup. Cheese Naan — Strange, the menu said«unleavened white bread stuffed with cheese»… the kind I got didn’t have any cheese in it, instead it had some green peas inside the naan. I thought they had made a mistake, so I called them & they said«yea, we put peas inside the cheese bread». To me that is odd, if that’s the case, why isn’t it on the menu? Chicken Tikka Masala — The«rich creamy tomato sauce» was was VERY bland and very watery, not very tasty. However, the pieces of chicken that were inside the sauce were extremely tender and juicy. Good chicken, not very good sauce. Malai Kofta — This dish was my favorite by far. the«cashew-ish cream tomato gravy» tasted the way the Tikka Masala sauce should have. Very creamy, very flavorful. Basmati Rice — It’s hard to say anything negative about rice, however this rice was very bland & not very flavorful. Ate the rice with the Mali Kofta sauce. Papad — Ordered 2 orders. Each order should come with onion chutney, they only included 1 onion chutney, & the small plastic cup was only filled ½ way up. I would have asked them to deliver another except the chutney was so extremely hot/spicy, that it wasn’t very pleasant tasting. All in all, I was disappointed. Probably won’t order from them again.

Found location on Unilocal always open for good Indian food. My husband had the lamb shank special. I ordered the lamb dosa and we shared cheese pakora and some naan. Really delicious. Nice little gem in downtown Stoneham.

Nice little place. The atmosphere was good. Food was good but I felt the dishes could have been more flavorful. Prices were a bit steep considering the size of the portions.

I’ve only gotten take out, but the food is pretty good. Fast delivery and large portions of rice. My only complaint is that there is a TON of sauce for everything with very little of the good stuff(paneer, meat, vegetables etc.) I’m also surprised at how the food is not spicy at all, but maybe you can ask for it if you go in.

I’ll admit I was skeptical about Rang when it first opened. Stoneham’s never been a culinary destination(unless you want pizza, subs, or Dunkin Donuts), and its idea of ethnic cuisine is Chinese takeout. My first takeout order removed any doubts. The lamb kebabs were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Subsequent chicken and vegetable dishes have been delicious. I have yet to order anything that hasn’t wowed me. When friends come to town, Rang is the usual dinner stop – they, in turn have made trips back to Stoneham just for dinner there. Now that most restaurants try to cram as many TVs onto their walls as possible, Rang offers a quiet, comfortable, and relaxing atmosphere where friends or couples can go to enjoy good food and conversation. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Be sure to try the lamb dosa!

Very very good. The chicken pakora is delicious. Individually sliced, perfectly cooked. The mango chutney is worth the 1.50 because when you order hot. They do Indian hot! Us Americans are usually wimps and we get the watered down version. Not here! All the staff watched as we ate. Either it was a joke on us or a shock to them. They checked twice if the spice level was ok. So be warned. Mild is flavor no spice. Medium is jalapeño hot and hot here is habanero. We loved it. We ordered the chicken vindaloo and the lamb josh rogan. Both hot and they were sizzling in our mouth but so very good. The bf got the kshamiri naan with coconut, raisins and cashews. He liked it, brought half home. Overall it’s the first Indian restaurant we’ve come to that he is willing to drive back to and it’s out of the way. That makes me very happy!!! Super cute as well and candles add a nice touch! Namesta!

Rang popped up on foodler and we decided to try it on a lazy night when no one wanted to do any cooking. And I sure am glad we did. The food was simply fabulous — very well spiced, aromatic and flavorful. The vindaloo was very good as was the saag. Everything was fresh and delicious and far better than other Indian places in the area. We ordered enough food to have some left overs for the next day but ended up feasting on almost all of it till we could no longer breath. Delivery was very fast too.

Very good Indian food and nice atmosphere. I got the Lamb Tiki Masala and my wife got the Chicken Tiki Masala. Both had great flavor. The portions weren’t standard; not too small but not huge either. We also ordered the small bread basket, which came with 2 types of naan(plain and garlic) and poori. It was more than we expected and we ended up taking some home. For desert, we got Gulab Jamun, which was absolutely delicious. The service was good. Nothing exceptional, but no complaints. Definitely a good place to go if you are looking for Indian food or a nice place to eat in Stoneham.

This is my first visit to the restaurant. It was small. More intimate than tiny. The downside? The door open directly into the dining room and even with the curtains that are there it was chilly as we Sat right in front. Let me start by saying I don’t know much about Indian food but I do know what I like. Not good at knowing names of things. We started with a vegetable mixed appetizer. Five different things although there was only one of each send to try. I thought it was rather expensive given what we were trying for an appetizer. We had to share each thing so it wasn’t very large. We ordered wine which I thought was odd to have with Indian food but tasted very good too. We ordered the chicken vindaloo and the Tandoori mixed grill along with rice. The food was good. It wasn’t overly spicy although I feel like it has definitely been toned down for an American palate. I actually would like to have seen the chicken vindaloo the spicier. Again the portions are small. I think it’s more that they expect you to eat your own dish rather than share them, which is what we did. The tandoori mixed grill was very good. It had some kind of fish, lamb, chicken, and shrimp, which all came out on a sizzling platter. They were too small pieces of each thing. Again I thought it was a small portion for $ 20. The waiter was very nice and recommended some items for us. We tried to cashew naan which was very sweet and tasty. Nothing like I have ever had something before. The only downside I could really find the food with the size of the meal. Although the waiter was very nice he was slow. When we had ordered our appetizer we did not order a main meal and there was a big bad time in between a finishing the appetizer and him coming and asking what we wanted for our entrees. We also came right before what must have been an event at the local theater, which we did not know about. It made the restaurant very very busy. However, it emptied right out halfway through a meal right before the show started . We used a coupon from for $ 25 off. I believe we will be back.
