3-star for: — lack of bad planning on my cake order — cake didn’t turn out to be the one that I ordered When ordering huge 12 lb cake, we assured over and over again that it needs to be ready by a specific time for pickup. When we went to pickup, it got delayed by at least an hour. Reason that was given was that they had too many orders. #1 rule of demand planning, plan accordingly :) Ordered black forest cake, was not the one. Of course we only found out after we did the cake ceremony because icing masked entire cake so couldn’t tell. This is second time I ordered this cake(granted that it was 4-years apart), same result when it comes to timeliness. It appears they operate on IST. It was a graduation theme, told us over phone that it will have hat, fake diploma, balloons. It was missing balloons :).

We ordered a birthday cake and it is so yummy… all the guests liked it so much. Indian Snacks here are not that good. we ordered samosa chat which was too spicy and we couldn’t enjoy the snack

See. The food is ok. If you are fine with Indian college side super local food stalls, this is good for that. In terms of food, I might give a 3⁄5. Ambience 1⁄5. Cleanliness and hygiene: −10÷5.(That’s a minus). Decent fast food Hotels in India will be much better maintained. The guy took 50 minutes to serve 4 dosas. That is an epic wait time. I wouldn’t go here unless you want a specific tasting food.

My experience with hot breads is limited to take out lunch but, on that score, we’ve been really satisfied. I find their food to be authentic, complex in flavors and ample in quantity — all at a good price. Their goat curry is fabulous — especially when you get a freshly cooked batch! and their yellow dal is the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant, anyway. The fish curry was also tasty. Their sides are so-so; raita not bad, breads not hot or fresh enough but ok. All in all a good place for good food and good value at lunchtime.

Bakery items are good like pastries and puffs. Biryani is good as well but sometimes I feel they just heat in it oven and serve you! There is place to dine in but really classy to have family dinner.

1) Terrible hygienic practices(for example — the guy was cleaning and mopping and handling food without gloves). 2) Bad oil — my stomach was upset after eating their bajji 3) Poor customer service.

This place definitely stands out from the regular indian restaurants. They focus more on the snacks, chaat items and pastries. Not to mention their biryani definitely stands out from the rest. Hot breads is a chain more like a indian version of McDonalds. You will find Hot-breads across most of the major cities in US. I truly hope that this restaurant spreads across the nation. I never knew that hot-breads existed in and around boston area until a common friend of mine introduced me and from then on i have been a frequent visitor at this spot. I come here probably once every month and sometimes more than that. I have come here with my friends, with my family and my bill never went past 50 $. The food is inexpensive and the quality is great. Honestly i would have given a 5-star but for the appearance and maintenance. I wish they take care of the look and feel of hot-breads. I have been a frequent customer to the hot breads in irving, texas when i lived there and now the hotbreads in woburn, MA. Hotbreads never dis-appoints. Now coming to the food, the chicken biryani is priced at 9.99 $ and it is definitely on par. The pastries are fresh and good. My personnel favorites are mixed fruit, pine-apple and strawberry. I have tried their samosa chat, vada pav, aloo tikki chat, pav-bhaaji. Pav-bhaaji disappointed me a bit but the rest were excellent. Not to mention i never miss their andhra spicy dosa. It never disappoints. I have also tried their chicken korma and ordered extra spicy, definitely lives up to the expectation. I have probably taken all my visiting guests to Hot-breads lol :).

The wife and I were passing by and decided todo take out. Asked for two goat biryanis along with a couple other items, but when we got home discovered they gave us one chicken biryani and charged us for the goat biryani. This was over confirming multiple times with them, while at the restaurant. The service was very bad. Also we had received a coupon. They refused to honor that as well. The food is OK. Beware of the heat level. When they state medium, it means very hot, based on average standards. Heat level is calibrated based Indian local spicy ratings. All the food items we tried, were ordered as medium, yet were very hot. The cakes are really nice and that is why the 2 stars. I would recommend it mainly for the cakes/pastries. I am going to complain to so that I can get refunded. I would not suggest purchasing coupons as ymmv with the mood of the person at the counter. They first told me that they no longer take coupons and then when I stated that it was issued only a couple of days ago, was told that they would just not take it.

Never take late evening takeout of birayani from them, specifically on sunday night. We were returning back home on sunday night after long travel and thought of doing take away from hot breads woburn. When i called them, they said that I can only get the birayani in take away. When i reached at shop, they had ice cold box of birayani ready. When i asked the guy why birayani is nit hot, he explained me that they just kept it in fridge. I asked about the dum, he told me that they prepare the rice and put dum only once in a day. I was surprised at that response, but thought may be thats how it is. When I went back home and opened the box, it was sheer disappointment. it was like they just added up the leftover vegetables on top of pulav and served it as birayani to us. Really had worst experience that night. vv

The atmosphere isn’t great, the service isn’t great, management is poor. But all of that aside, the food isn’t expensive at all, the taste is great, the quantity is so good, you can split most items with 2 people. What else can you ask for. I’d definitely recommend this place if you have a little bit if tolerance for poor management

In search of a bakery for dessert while in the area, saw Hot Breads when we were dining across the street so decided to stop in. It was raining and parking was scarce so my friend went in not knowing why type of bakery/restaurant this was. I was in the car Unilocaling and realized it was a bakery/restaurant serving many authentic Indian faire. She was quite surprised when she went in but the staff was very friendly and helpful. She ended up getting a slice of a yellow cake with fruit and a red velvet cake to go. The yellow cake was light and fluffy, mildly sweet and the red velvet was just OK, not very chocolately though it looked like it would have been. Very reasonably priced.

Would I come back? Probably not. One one hand it is a superbly cheap Indian buffet. At $ 6.40 including tax, its hard to find a better deal for all you can eat. The downside is that the food was just okay. I didn’t care much for the dishes offered. The chicken dishes were bony as shhh. I had to be super careful with each chew because I would chomp down on a shard of bone every other bite. None of the«classic» Indian buffet varieties like Tikka Masala or Korma were offered. Even the rice was loaded with peppercorns which give you the sensation of biting down on a shard of bone. It was just too much of a pain in the A to eat. Also, the heating dishes are inconsistent. Some of the bites of chicken I had were cold which gave me the fear that I am going to be vomiting later on from food poisoning. On second thought, I don’t plan to come back.

The four stars are for the food. We had vegetable samosas, which our kids could not get enough of, chicken tikka masala which was delicious, palak paneer that forced us to take more bites, and the chicken curry which was good, though not the favorite dish on the table. However, people should be prepared for a little chaos on entering the restaurant– we had the feeling we were intruding on a local party, because it seemed like a serve yourself, find your own seat kind of place, and when we waited in line to make an order the man did not take payment. We were told we must wait in line again at the end. Not the common way to run a restaurant, but then there were only two guys in the place on a Saturday night, one definitely fresh off the boat or plane or however people immigrate these days. Maybe this casual vibe reflects the way food shops are run on the other side of the world? We are not Indian, and it seemed that every other customer was of Middle Eastern descent. That is always a good sign, for good food! But some Might find the atmosphere confusing or uncomfortable. I must add that the staff was very kind. We had two gift certificates that had to be used and they split our party’s check to make it happen!

I am still searching for that friend of mine on whose suggestion we went here to eat biriyani. I dont blame the people running the kitchen. If ghee rice and chicken/mutton mixed together is what they call biriyani and thats the best that they could do, hey you simply cant blame them. I was hurt deep in my heart on seeing what they served us and had the courage to call it biriyani. And my friend said it was the best that he had.lol. Poor soul living in US he has lost the understanding for biriyani and ghee rice! Never mind, we dint get to try anything else here except pastry. It was decent enough. But yeah never ever coming back again to try kitchen cooked stuff. Thanks guys!

Is a place worth driving all the way from Weymouth to Woburn. My friend thought so and I had my fingers crossed. Food — Got the wada paav for appetizers. Looked delicious but had too much massala in it. I had to chuck half of it. We got the biryani for the table. And it was worth the drive. Ambience &nService — The place needs to get itsbact together with regards to cleanliness. I suggest one gets a to go. Cost — Value for money $ 10 per pax — Table sharing.
