Ideal Automotive Service Center

I’ve been going to ideal automotive for sometime, i would say about 5 years now. I believe my pops told me to check it out. At the time, i was almost a monthly customer. With my 325ci (I wasn’t to kind to the biemmer). Now different car going mostly for preventative care.
I will admit I was hesitant at first, assuming it was another rip you off shop. I was wrong. Craig is cool guy, runs a good shop and doesn’t bs you. Reasonable prices, they work hard to get your car back to you as fast as possible. They will advise you on what else your car needs (without the haggling most shops do).

I couldn’t be any happier with the service that I have received from «Ideal Automotive». The services they provide at the price they do… is awesome and will keep me coming back!!! The owner Craig is very personable and enjoyes getting to know his customers. You don’t feel like ur just another paycheck.

Went here thru a great groupon oil change voucher. I am very happy I found them. I got some work that was needed in my car and now my car runs like new. I will be bringing my car here for now on. Great customer service. honest place. Such a relieved there still honest mechanic shops in the Chicago land area. The reason they get 5 stars is not only great place but I was running late and I had to be at work within a hour of dropping it off. they were done in 30 minutes. now that’s what you call going the extra mile. If your car needs service bring it here. You won’t be disappointed..

I have had nothing but trouble with this company: I had an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation made a week in advance and when I arrived on a Thursday, they informed me that I was going to have to wait because the car lift in the shop was currently occupied as the mechanics ate lunch at 3pm, I waited an hour in the lobby and was then informed to go home and come back, 5pm comes around and they finally finished my car. When my appointment was at 2pm that day.
The owner I believe did help me out and rotated my tires for me even though they have to take All the lug nuts off and change the hubcaps two days later, he ordered lug nuts for me and made an appointment two days later and all I had to pay for was the lug nuts not service because of the situation.
Currently my appointment was at 8am and there is a car on the lift as we speak and it is 8:20 am. Very slow with 1 – 2 mechanics. Thankfully I have a groupon otherwise I would have not came back

Brought my Honda Accord in for a basic oil change, and I was impressed with the speed and quality of the service. I had good conversation with the owner, Craig Ishmael. Very personable, and never once tried to sell me on multiple things, when I only came in for an oil change. They gave me a good quote on brakes, but that was it. I never felt pressured to buy other things. Highly recommend Ideal Automotive!

I have mixed reviews about this place.
The owner, Adam, is a really nice guy. With him, everything is negotiable. I used to bring my old cars here for oil change, brake job, cooling problems, etc.
It has the cheapest (aftermarket) parts and labor you can find anywhere in Chicago.
This also means those parts may not last as long as they should.
I’d say, if you have a beater, and don’t care about long-​term drivability, this place is perfect for a, um, quick stop :)
