Not great, the vegetables were green beans and corn mix, mushy and cold. Mashed potatoes were box but still had lumps. And I just wanted a diet Cole or coke and had none.

Good place in town for breakfast. My dad comes here pretty regularly with my grandma, aunt, and uncle. Food wasn’t bad at all. Came out in a reasonable amount of time. The handmade tortillas are something I respect/admire. Only negative I can think about pointing out is it seemed a bit understaffed the day I came in. 1 lady busting all the tables. It started getting busy shortly after we came in and you could tell she could feel the pressure. She was able to manage though. I liked how there wasn’t a wait. We were seated and waited on immediately. Try out the chorizo breakfast, it wasn’t bad.

This used to be better. It’s a small diner attached to the side of a Sears building. All different food, but Mexican is their staple. In decline, and in the mantime I’ve found better(Xochilmicos in downtown).

My Teta Lydia Nahas loved this place, RIP… So I do too. Great to bring your grandparents. Take Sears credit card.

Not happy with this place. The location is hard to find and the food is not great. Everyone talks about handmade tortillas but they are not authentic.

This place is the worst. I came in and ordered the chili Verde burrito plate. It took 45 minutes. There was no chili Verde in the burrito it was pork and bell peppers. The taco meat tasted like mildew and the tortillas had hair cooked into them. When I went to pay I waited at the register for 15 minutes. And as I was leaving I heard the lady who works there telling the cooks to take my leftovers and put them in a pot for soup. This place is disgusting.

I’ve been coming here since 1992. Gloria and Leno are great. The homemade tortillas are exceptional.

We came here for lunch one afternoon. Being from Sacramento, we had no idea what to expect. The reviews were all right so we gave it a shot. Ordered cheeseburgers pretty good. Cheese is think and onions are juicy. Nothing extraordinarily great. But a good classic taste. Another order was for huevos rancheros. Beans were excellent tortillas homemade. Rice could use a little salt. The only thing was the processed yellow nacho cheese on it. That is not authentic to me. It’s supposed to have Monterey Jack cheese. If it would have had that it would’ve been perfect. Ranchero sauce was good. Meat very tender. Would recommend for lunch or breakfast :)

I end up here at Leno’s Birdcage café from time to time. I’ve grown found of their hamburgers and outside seating. The place is always clean and the staff is super nice. I never eat inside, always outside. The two tables outside, It’s not much to look at, but I enjoy the ambiance that generates when I’m sitting there. The food and I and not a care in the world. It’s almost like my own personal heaven. That is the feeling when I eat outside anywhere but at Leno’s it’s slowly becoming my favorite spot to eat at. Vincent D *VD* Life is Beautiful

I remember going here as a kid with my parents when it was downstairs in Sears. Now it’s in a more easily found location on the main level. The Chile Colorado is fantastic. It’s kid friendly as well. There are very good portions! The service is good. You can tell its a lot of regulars. We go MAYBE once a month or every 2 months and Lola somehow always remembers my order!

This was, by far, the worst tasting Mexican food I have ever eaten. It should not be called or even considered Mexican Food, to do so is a stretch! The chicken looked and tasted as if it came out of a can! I’m at a loss for words to describe just how bad my experience was. This is definitely Stocktons best kept secret and should remain as such. I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy, never mind to a trusted friend! I don’t think I’d remain friends to anyone who would recommend this place to me! It’s just gross on so many levels. In order to post this review I was forced to give it a star. It is not deserving of a star. There should be an option to rate negative stars. Unilocal, your star system needs an overhaul

The chorizo and eggs here are very good, and the chocolate shakes are the best in town. You can’t go wrong with the burger deluxe as it comes with a side of fries and a garden salad. Service here can be spotty but overall a nice little spot just off the Sears department store.

I agree that this may be one of the better kept secrets on the north side of Stockton. Tucked away in a corner of Sears that during my early childhood was the Sears seasonal department, they serve up Mexican and American breakfasts and lunches. I’ve sampled from various portions of the menu and have settled on the patty melt here as my favorite dish, Leno is a master of melting the cheese just right for an ultra delicious taste. The patty, fries, and a drink will set you back only around $ 8, still a good value. Bring your Sears Shop Your Way card, eating at Leno’s can earn you reward points in the Sears store!

This place has been here since I can remember… I used to eat here with my mother when I was in high school(many many moons ago) and again when I went to Delta(both times, tee hee). I ate there when I was pregnant once, and I had a whole entrée and another plate of beans… and everyone stared at the pregnant lady eating enough food for 3. Anyway, the food is always great. Its very convenient and reasonably priced and the service is great.

This place is definitely one of the«hole in the wall» places. They have a very unique menu with a blend of both Mexican and American food. I got their«Super Burrito» which was roughly $ 4 for a huge burrito. I really enjoyed it but it wasn’t a burrito to «die for». I’m giving this place 4 stars because the food is good but I wouldn’t say it’s AMAZING or a MUSTTRY.

If you’re looking for comfort food, this is a great place to come(I’m pretty sure my sodium levels tripled after my meal). It’s tucked away in the corner of Sears in Weberstown Mall, so it’s a cute hole-in-the-wall kind of place. When my friend and I walked in, we were transported to a pink, cottage house. We were also probably the youngest people there. They have a breakfast menu, which is served until 11:30. Then they have two different types of food: American and Mexican. My friend ordered the Super Burrito, and I had the Roast Beef Sandwich, and they came out quickly. Both were tasty, but neither were piping hot. :\ The meal was also pretty cheap; our total bill was around $ 10. If you want some good ol’ hearty food in a quaint setting, this is the perfect place to go.

I am the biggest stickler when it comes to chorizo… my grandmother’s will always and forever be the best and, even though I have not had hers in the past two years, I will always be able to taste the difference between hers and… well, anything else. Having said that, I take every chance I get to try a chorizo plate should it be offered(maybe wishful thinking?)… and Leno’s, while not my grandmother’s, is definitely tasty and what I would consider a «repeat». Their tortillas are the straight-up homemade variety… the ones that are the absolute business when hot and then turn to cardboard when cold. Plentiful servings mean you won’t need to have lunch(at least for me)… I would have no problem recommending this little hole-in-the-wall(that’s a compliment from me) to anyone, be it a local or a out-of-town visitor(sidenote: who would ever come visit Stockton on purpose??).

4 ½ stars Yup, a local secret. I agree, Michelle C. The place is really cute. You can tell that they really take pride in their café.(see photos) Not gormet food. but good yummy food. It is stuck in the north east corner of the Sears store. back behind the tool department. I think it has been there foreverrrrr! I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich with smashed potatoes… AND extra gravy! :)(see photo) It was hot, yummy comfort food. They close at 6:45 p. m… Is that a weird time to close or what!!! I would return.

Leno’s is located at the NE corner of Sears in Weberstown Mall. And Leno has been there for quite a number of years now. He relocated his restaurant from Weber Avenue in downtown Stockton that he opened in 1972. Before that Leno had another place for about 8 years. Leno is now in his late 70’s and still works there, but his son has taken over the bulk of the business. The food probably rates only 4 stars, but the fact that I have been eating at Leno’s old place and this one for over 40 years adds a Star for longevity. Leno’s has both traditional and Mexican style breakfasts which are both excellent. They have a daily lunch special. Leno’s Thursday lunch special has been corn beef and cabbage for as long as I can remember. The food has always been consistently good. His prices have always been value oriented. This is best as a breakfast place and a quick lunch place.
