The deli at Safeway is a hidden jewel that I think many customers do not know about. It took me a while to even discover the sandwich area inside. Usually I’d just buy the pre-made sandwiches to take to school with me. Prices are cheap and service is friendly. My favorite would be the breakfast sandwiches: sausage egg or ham and egg(I don’t eat pork so the workers usually lets me get extra cheese instead). If you’re on a budget and need a quick bite this is a great place to go.

I definitely prefer coming to Safeway Deli rather that going to Subway or Togos. There’s always a bit of a wait because their service isn’t as quick as the chain sandwich shops. They have a sign that guarantees your sandwich will be made in 3 minutes or less, but I have yet to see that happen. It almost seems as if they’re short staffed in that section. The employees carefully handpick you veggies when preparing your sandwich. Any defective ingredient will be thrown away right in front of your eyes. Their sandwiches are made on their freshly baked bread. On the downside, if you come late in the day some of the bread choices are limited. Their regular sized sandwiches are $ 5 and on some days they have specials where you can add a drink and chips for free :) You can also earn a free sandwich with their frequent shopper program. Here are two of my favorite sandwiches: Vegetarian Sandwich: try it with havarti cheese and the olive spread Chicken Sandwich: try it with the garlic aioli sauce :)
