Don’t stop here. While their gas price was fair they are a large general store with a deli. They have seating and a wide variety of alcohol. They do not however have a public restroom, which I thought, by law, if you served food was required. They are also quite rude. Many other locations available so move on from here!!!

I’m writing a review based on my experience with their deli area, which I absolutely loved. Fresh cuts, great quality breads, good price and I love the feeling of a mom and pop shop. A million times better then going to a Subway. Ernie’s deli is delicious and cheap!

Warning: they charge you more for gas per gallon than what you had picked on the gas grade buttons! I selected 87 at 2.19 and I was charged 2.39. See evidence: 87 was selected and lit, 2.39 was charged. Shady.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Terrible customer service, I have suspicions that one of the cashiers may be prejudice, and on top of that, he claimed to not have any«Change» in his drawer to give back as a purchase was being made with a $ 20 bill and the total was $ 9, how you run a business and not able to give a customer change is very confusing. Don’t go here unless you want to get ripped off, treated terribly, or called out of your name.

I want to start off by saying the best part about this place is the sandwiches, there was a period of time I used to come here a lot for the sandwiches. I was always hoping the owner Ernie would stop being an insanely rude person at some point but that never happened so I stopped going. And all the sandwich girls quit over time because they couldn’t tolerate him either. I used to be a smoker at one point and I bought cigarettes here once and they were twice the price they were at every other gas station. This guy needs an attitude adjustment, wouldn’t recommend putting yourself through it. Also, he charges you for debit and won’t ever let you use credit. But his employees have when he isn’t around so he’s blatantly just being mean and cheap. Really just an awful vibe here.

This place is cool. Ernie’s is a family run joint. They have the check out counter covered in all the winning lotto tickets from the past century or two, a deli serving tri-tip, classic lettered signage(please don’t ever change that), and the cheapest gas in town. Win win win.

Stopped in for lunch on the road. Friendly, helpful service. Good feel to whole store, deli has great cheese selection. Sandwiches were super, ham and Swiss on ciabatta! Three of us. All loved it. Deli macaroni salad was outstanding! Homemade masterpiece. This place is on our list of top places in Stockton now.

I drive in and out of Stockton quite a few times every year from LA, and I always stop at Ernie’s on my way out. I figured it was time to write a review! I usually grab Gas and everything I need for the road. If you name it, Ernie’s has it, all snacks and drinks taken care of for the ride, and helpful people if you need to find something. Last time out, I got a sandwich for the road so I didn’t need to stop for dinner, and it was seriously great. Italian roll seemed fresh and everything on it was delicious. Good selection of meat(I got turkey), as well as some of the more hard to find Italian cold cuts. Next time I’ll be getting a capicolla!

Have came here before with no problems but the last time I came was annoying. First time being«helped» by who I assume is the owner(with the ‘stache) and he was a total d-bag. I put the beer on the counter to purchase and he looked at me and kept going on about his business. At first I thought fine, let him finish what he’s doing, but then I realized he wasn’t even doing anything important! He was just moving around some boxes in a cabinet. I was going to just walk out but I was in a hurry and didn’t want to make another stop, so I waited til he took his sweet time to come ring up my beer. I still tried being nice by just making small talk but he either ignored what I was saying or would give one word answers as if he didn’t want my business. I won’t be coming back to this place at all.

Place is a rip off. Prices vary up to .40 on a $ 2 item. Charge tax on items they are not allowed to. Over charge crv on items. Was in there today and bought drink with .05 crv(said so right on bottle), guy charged me .10. I told him he was wrong and showed him bottle. He told me they are instructed to charge .10 crv on everything by the owner. I dont appreciate being ripped off so I will never go back to this store and I suggest you do the same.

If you want to see terrible customer service first hand stop by this place. Ask for the restroom and I’ll send you hiking off to a nearby fast food restaurant. Want to use your credit card? Pony up to an additional fee. I’ll spend my money somewhere else thank you.

Stopped by for some beverages. Normally the place takes credit cards. Old white guy at the counter with handlebar mustache says no credit cards and rings up two small arrowhead waters and a small bottle of iced tea for $ 6.25 by randomly punching in whatever price he wanted rather than scanning the items. I only had 5 bucks cash and was in a hurry so I tell him I’ll put back the tea. He sees I’ve got a 5 so rings up the two small waters for $ 4.97. What?! There is no sales tax on water so how the hell do you divide that by two? Guy is clearly skimming the register by overcharging at random prices but I had my wife and two small kids waiting in the car and didn’t have time for an argument. Never going back and I strongly recommend all to avoid this shady little dump.

Complete hole-in-the-wall, but this is an awesome place for sammiches(all the way in the back corner)!! Friendly customer service too! They have corned beef for St. Patty’s day along with your traditional turkey, roast beef, etc. I tried the beef tri-tip, which had quality meat and all the works for just $ 6. The soft rolls were pretty delicious too. As for the rest of the store, it’s a complete assortment of the most random items you could possibly imagine. Sporting goods, snacks, toiletries, even vintage wines and liquors. Truly your«general» store. Definitely check out this quirky diamond in the rough if you’re ever in the area!

I’ll start out by saying that I am not a fan of Stockton. Everytime I have to go there it just seems dirtier and seedier. But the last time my husband took me to Ernie’s for a bite to eat and OMG! Big tasty yummy filled sandwiches! Great prices, they literally have every type of cheese and meat you could think of. They have great stuff to look at/buy. I loved checking out their collection of liquor bottles. But the sandwich alone is why I would go to Stockton just for this place. Extremely yummy and makes any other sandwich pale in comparison.

Check the dates on all products you buy in the General store. We bought chips and then realized they expired in December of last year. Cmon Ernie, time to call your supplier and buy some fresh stock!

This place is a real gem. Cheaper gas than most places. Seems to be independently owned. I like to stop here any time I’m driving to Kirkwood from the Bay Area. They don’t open their general store if you are there really early(like before 8 perhaps), but you can still get gas and then stop next door at McDonalds for a quick sammy. When the store is open, their deli here is really good. A sweet roll and fresh ingredients are tailored for a nice lunchtime treat on the mountain, saving me tons of cash. While they are making it, wander around the store. You will be surprised what you can all find in here. $ 400+ bottles of scotch, 12 pound roasts, crock pots, two types of garlic presses, Christmas ornaments, various chachkes, etc, etc, etc. I would bet if wanted it, they would have it. In short, this is not your average general store. If I lived near, I’d be a frequent patron.
