Very very good Mexican food. The waiter is wonderful and very helpful in making our choices each time we return. We both love that they use flour tortillas for taco and enchiladas. They have a full bar and we are told they have awesome bands but we aren’t normally up that late to head out there. If you are tired of your same old Mexican place try this one… it’s made us happy!!!

Friends and I went here for our monthly girls nite out, this past wednesday. The food was excellent and well worth another visit. The waiter was very attentive, I got the impression he is always that way, even tho there were only 5 customers total. We were surprised at this, since they have been open several months. But then we haven’t seen any advertizing.

My boyfriend and I have ordered food to-go here 4 times at all different times of day and I think that’s enough to give an informative review. We always order a super burrito and a regular burrito Asada and we always ask for pinto beans instead of refried. Even though they offer pinto beans as a substitute for refried they ALWAYS still give us refried. Small but annoying occurrence. This last time we went is what had us done with this place, I called and ordered and they said it’d be 20 minutes. So we arrive in 25 or so. Let them know we were there to pick up, there was 2 other customers sitting at the bar and that was it. But we still waited about 10 more minutes for our 2 burritos and then the guy tells us they«didn’t have any pinto beans». It was 11:30am when you should be fully stocked for the day, it’s clear they should just remove pinto beans from the menu. The burritos are good, but I don’t appreciate the service at all.

I must start my review by commenting on a couple of the reviews I’ve just read. Just for the record, a crunchy taco IS a fried corn tortilla. It’s not a pre-made dry taco shell like you would get at taco bell. There are two types of salsa– hot and mild. Everyone is given mild salsa but hot salsa is available on request. Also, they offer refried beans or whole black beans. There are no pinto beans on the menu. So for people giving negative reviews, this may be the source of your confusion. Sad that their Unilocal rating has gone down because of this. If you’re a fan of Taco Bell or El Torito then save yourself a trip. Go there instead. It annoys me that people can give negative reviews so quickly. This restaurant serves REAL Mexican food. And aside from that, Mexico is a huge country. There are different styles of Mexican food, just like dialects, fashion, music styles etc. My Review: As for my personal review, the food is great, fresh, cooked to order(chips included) and authentic. The salsa Verde is really picante and very fresh tasting. I like to mix both salsas to my liking. The Chile Relleno is the best ever! It’s totally different and I strongly encourage you to try it. It actually has broccoli, cauliflower & potatoes in the sauce! The shrimp and asada tacos are great too! The rice is hands down my favorite in Stockton aside from my own. Clean spot, parking is safe, service is friendly. Check it out for yourself and please review this place. OK I’m done. I’ve said my peace. I doubt anyone is still reading anyway. LoL

This review is for Taco Tuesday only. Specifically ‘hard shell’ tacos. I can barely give a three star rating. I would not go back for the taco event. Nice restaurant. It’s where Ciao Bella was. In fact… the same owner. Guess he decided that Mexican food would work better than Italian food. I had not been to the Italian restaurant. Anyway… looks nice inside. To the right is a separate dining are with a bar. Sounded like the patrons were having a great time. I ate in the main dining area and was the sole diner during my stay. Started with the normal offering of chips and salsa. Salsa was not chunky… rather blended quite well. Not much of a bite to it. But since I am a gringo, it did the job for me. I used it for the chips and poured it on my tacos. The chips… the first basket varied between being ok and chewy chips. You know what I mean. I asked for a ‘fresh’ basket of chips… a bit better. But the chips could be improved. Maybe when they are busy, the chips are fresher? They offer both crispy and soft shell tacos, chicken or beef, on Tuesdays for $ 2. I tried both flavors asking for a crispy shell. Ok, for a ‘crispy’ shell they just deep fry the soft taco shell. Doesn’t work really well. The first batch was still pretty soft except for around the edges. When I reordered I was told to ask for extra crispy for a crunch so I did. Somewhat better, but I really did not like them. The chicken they use is shredded/chopped and is soggy, kind of like they keep it moist in water/liquid. Not good or tasty. The beef tacos were a bit more real… chunks of real beef. The tacos were loaded with enough meat, plenty of greens and tomato chunks and topped off with cheese. This experience did not offer me anything that I would want to go back for. They are in the old Dave Wong’s restaurant shopping center on Pershing… several doors north of Dave Wong’s deli.

Only can give one star for now because we went in to eat and there was no employee to be found. After looking at the menu my husband and I wanted to stay but ended up leaving when a server came out from the back three times and failed to greet or acknowledge my husband and I. We just didn’t care to have a bad service so we left. Not sure why they seemed to be short staffed. We’ll try again another time.

Saturday, not wanting to cook, I decided to give this a try. Clean spacious, quickly greeted. I madr two to go orders. A quesadilla dinner and a combo dinner. Grandson had the quesadillas, no complaints. I had the combo, but gave my taco to the grandson, leaving relleno, enchilada, steak picata and the accompaniments. Two complaints the steak was watery and in the same dish as the relleno, making that a soggy mess. Second is the seeds in the relleno. If you’re in the area give it a try, if you have a favorite place stick with it. Ok, just not extra special.

My new favorite Mexican restaurant in town. I have tried several different menu items and they are all very good and consistent. Best pork burrito I have ever had with lean portions of meat and no globs of fat. Excellent chips, salsa, rice and beans. It is definitely not your run of the mill Mexican eatery. I’ve got to admit that I was really surprised at how good the menu change has been.

Not good. It is 6:25 and no one is here but my party of 4. Server is nice but confused. Service super slow, greasy fajitas. The salsa is tasty. Not what I thought I was ordering and friends’ food not what they expected, there was a lot of brocolli in their relleno.

Amazing ! The food was extremely fresh and yummy. The service was friendly and upbeat. Rice, beans were immaculate. I had the Beef Flautas which was really super tasty. El Toro Loco beef is on point — so I think I will choose a Beef burrito next time.

Wow. And then another wow. And then again. This has quickly become my new lunch destination, usually walk away too full for their dinner. Affordable dining that fills the stomach and tastes great. If you’re looking for a meal that satisfies, look no further.

I enjoyed a delicious lunch with my husband! Everything tasted fresh. I recommend this place. Our meal for 2 adults and 1 child plus a michelada came to $ 40. The salsa had a lot of flavor. I highly recommend the chile relleno. They only make a certain amount per day. Don’t miss out.
