Tonight was the first time I tried Jimboy’s Tacos… and it will likely be the last. The first tip-off should have been the emptiness of the restaurant(two diners on a Friday night). I ordered carry-out, and I asked for a take-out menu but was told they didn’t have any. My companion had a tacoburger combo and a ground beef taco. I had the two enchilada plate with one beef taco and one chicken taco(on recommendation of the cashier), and I also had a ground beef taco. First, we both tried the tacos. I have to say, this was the most unappetizing looking taco I have ever encountered; in addition it was SMALL and there was no «parmesan crusted grilled corn tortilla»; instead, there was two caked lines of parmesan on one of the sides of the gooey tortilla. It was NOTHING like the pictures you see online or even from some Unilocal users. This thing was not at all crispy, in fact it was a flat, grease soaked, soft mess and the contents were no better. There was no cheese on it and the meat tasted how I imagine Alpo dog food tastes. It just… wasn’t… good. This was the«classic» I’d been so excited to try? No. For the price, I’d much rather head over to Jack in the Box for a bigger, crispier, tastier monster taco. Sadly, the best part of the meal was the french fries that came with the tacoburger. My companion was not impressed with the tacoburger at all… immediately after eating it the comment they made was«Wow, it tastes like I am burping up feet!» The burger had zero flavor and no cheese. Both of the enchiladas were barely dabbed with any sauce; it was almost as if one of Santa’s elves painted the sauce on with a fine brush. Unfortunately, the ground beef in the enchilada was the same revolting fare that appeared in the taco. The chicken enchilada was not much better in terms of flavor. A note on the sides: Rice a Roni Spanish rice has more flavor than the rice served with this combo and the refried beans tasted just like Rosarita refried beans with a sprinkling of cheese on top. This can’t be the same Jimboy’s Tacos that everyone raves about… but I’m not willing to give it another try(even with a free meal offer or groupon).

I like the food. Not diet food and they fry a lot, but it tastes good consistently. They have horchata, which is a bonus.

I was going to Starbucks one day and noticed this place. I had the best fish taco ever. I read someone comment about the rabbit food on the tacos. I love love veggies so the extra lettuce and tomatoes on a cheat day is awesome. I dont’ go often but when I crave tacos I go here. They have shrimp now. It comes with a red sauce but I asked them to give me guac instead. OMG! I normally eat one taco and I’m full. These things are so tasty that I hate two just to try the shrimp. I also like the pineapple and guava drink mixed another treat. The place is clean. Service is fast, food hot. I agree with others about the customer service at the register. I think they should get some happier people in here. I think one time a girl was crying and doing lots of texting at the counter. Front door customer service is key. Tell them to smile, its contagious. Love love the taco’s. My husband was impressed with the enchilada with beans and rice. Prices very reasonable.

I would have given this jimboys a 5 star for the food and a 2 star for the cashier. I went here last week and ordered my food, mind you I have known the owner for the last 10 yrs and his mother is a cook, so anyways the new cashier was very unfriendly and charged me for things I have never been charged for in the past. I asked since when and she didn’t respond or answer any of my question. Rude!!! Well we move onto the food this day is was Taco Tuesday and we ordered 10 tacos so we could eat them there and take some home. I had asked for light rabbit food lol and I swear they doubled it anyways pulled it off and by the time we had done this to 10 tacos we could have made 4 taco salads jeez and I sank my teeth into the 1st one it from food heaven to foodie hell, they tasted like crap and the taco shells were so hard and over cooked my girl and I looked at each other and thought the same thing, YUCK. Well I went back Wednesday the following week and to my surprise the owner and his mom were there still and I voiced my concerns over his new cashier and the food. He reassured me that the food and service are going to get better again. I order the daily special and an extra taco and my mouth, stomach, and even my wallet were very happy this time.

Been a regular jimboys fan for many years, I’m glad they reopened in Stockton cause we don’t have one in The Bay — Ok, so if a fan why only 3 stars? Well cause lately they’ve been hit and miss with my chicken el gordo or shredded beef el gordo also if visiting anywhere close to closing time the doors are closed ! Anyway when jimboys is on its game it’s easily a 4 ½ star taqueria and will continue to keep me as a regular(8 outta 10 times it’s good and I’d take those odds in Vegas!).

It’s jimboys and it is good Mexican fast food, not that taco bell crap. They were gone for a mint and moved to the new spot. I am glad there back!

**** SEEMYREVISIONBELOWTHEFOLLOWINGREVIEW: Isn’t it the law that if you handle money that you must wash your hands before you make my burrito? You know, I don’t know about some places. They all must think that we don’t care how our food is being prepared. I’ll give the fact that the place is clean inside and looks good, but when the gal that take my money, hands bills back to me, then goes back and grabs grated cheese from the bin to make my burrito… well, that’s just disgusting. HEY! Business owner! If you’re reading this: EMPLOYEESMUSTWASHHANDSAFTERHANDLINGMONEY! BTW…the burrito sucked. It was cold(nothing was thrown on the grill to heat up the meat) and it had these terrible olives in it. I won’t be back if someone can’t provide a nice, hot and juicy burrito. Is it that hard??? ***** REVISIONTOORIGINALREVIEW: I immediately received an email from Kristin, who works for Jimboy’s. She had concerns about my review and that I wasn’t satisfied. She acted professionally and addressed my concerns the way EVERY business owner/operator should. I appreciate that she offered to fix the problem, but I’m not one for going in for free burritos. Just fix the problem. I raised from 2-stars to 3-stars for owning up. Though she addressed the issue, I still think the burrito was horrible. Sorry. Maybe another item might change my mind again. We’ll see.

I went here and the first thing that hits you is a horrible smell. Its really weird. I never tried Jimboys in my life so I wanted to try it despite the smell. The place was decorated ok with cool pictures but the high chairs were dumb. I hate those kind. They have coke and diet coke which was a plus and the service was good. They were friendly and the prices were ok. I got a nachos. It was HUGE. It was more for 3 then for just 1 person I think. It was ok better then taco bell but still not really fresh tasting and not really healthy tasting either. So I would say this is really like kind of expensive taco bell food with bigger portions. Overall I did not care for Jimboys. Now I can say I’ve tried Jimboys though.

A definite improvement from their last location near Costco. It looks way nicer, is cleaner, and has much more room. For the food, it may have taken a hit. The tacos don’t taste as good as they use to. I don’t really eat anything but the fish or beef tacos, so I can’t comment on the other things here.

Ahhh… Jimboys is BACK! Oh, happy day! I became a Jimboys Tacos fan many years ago. Their Sacramento locations were always a mandatory stop when I was doing work there. The newish Jimboys in Martell is someplace I will go out of my way to hit whenever possible. Although the Hammer Lane(R.I.P.) location in Stockton was a real dump, the food was still good. I was saddened to find them closed one day when looking for the next bean burrito fix. Was really happy to find them again on Pacific Avenue in front of Best Buy(Sherwood Mall). Stopped in every day for nearly a week just to catch up on lost times. Jimboys makes their tacos in a very interesting way; Instead of using pre-packaged corn taco shells, they fry a corn tortilla right on the grill with the stuff inside. My favorite is the bean tacos(I’m a vegetarian). They don’t use lard in their beans(like almost every other mexican restaurant does), so their food is clean and safe for veggies. Anyway, ingredients go in, tortilla is folded over, and fried on both sides. A final sprinkling of parmesan cheese on the outside of the shell, and there you have a Jimboys taco. The yummiest tacos in the world, I kid you not. They still retain the Jimboys signature salsa bar where you serve your own salsa(4 choices) and jalapenos and onions. Then, you find a spot in the very nice dining area and prepare to enter ‘food heaven’. The inside of the new restaurant is a LOT cleaner and more modern. It looks like they changed very little from when it was a Baja Fresh(previous tenants). Which, is fine. It’s like a form of «recycling» you might say. The same mother/son team runs the Pacific Avenue Jimboys who were running Hammer Lane. I just hope they don’t let the new location become as run-down as the old one.

Holy cow Jimboys is back! I was so sad to see them close on Hammer Lane. Same great tacos, just new great location in front of the Sherwood Mall. The inside is beautiful. It’s really an upgrade from the Hammer Lane location that closed down. I had three regular beef tacos and a cheese enchilada for lunch today. It was that same Jimboy’s flavor as before. Welcome back Jimboy’s! Stockton is lucky to have you. :0)
