The food has good quality. They don’t season it very well though. After we added some salt and pepper, the taste improved and made for an enjoyable dinner. We asked the manager why they don’t season food better. Not sure I liked his response that corporate management insists that all Rojo restaurants serve the food seasoned the same. When I pointed out that most of us eat Mexican because we like the robust flavors, he just sighed and said he understands but is unable to change it. The salsas were very good. I enjoyed mixing in one of the hot ones with the regular. My wife and I will likely return, but I still am unsure why they are content to serve bland food. Read the reviews and you will see there are many of us who feel this way.

First time here… Service was great. A very tentative waiter and other staff as well. Seemed a little small for the type of restaurant but it was clean. The feel and decoration, including the outside were well on point with the theme. Unfortunately for my taste the food was a bit bland. Seemed to be lacking in the spice department.

We came here for Taco Tuesday specials. Beware of bones in the chicken tacos! While chewing, I felt something really hard and sharp — I pulled out a broken chicken bone about 1 inch in length. When brought to the server’s attention, he took back the other uneaten half and offered to comp the item… for $ 1. Ridiculous customer service — someone could have easily choked given the size of the bone, and all they had to offer was a $ 1 discount when we ordered 15+ tacos between the 3 of us as well as drinks. After this experience I will not be coming back to Rojo.

Taco Tuesday was great, surf & turf taco is definitely wort the money. Two story taco is good as well.

I’m pretty disappointed in this place. The service was okay, but the food was not very good at all. I ordered the chicken fajitas. The chicken was both dry and bland, which is never a good thing. There was no guacamole or sour cream to add, so the only real taste enhancement I could use was the salsa that came with the store bought chips. That didn’t help much. My wife was also not impressed by the tortilla soup. The only saving grace is that I could wash it down with a Negra Modelo. Overpriced and not very good. I won’t be back.

Usually have a great experience. Sat at the bar and order the marguerite with the beer, asked for some chips and salsa and was informed they charge for them unless your order appetizers. We got the chops and ordered appetizers. The waitress was so busy with another customer(assuming friend) because she was busy looking up funny animal videos! So disappointed.

Was talking about food to a co-worker and he tells me you have to try this place. Note to self when i go back to work tomorrow(yes i have to work tomorrow, can you believe that. Who works Christmas eve) punch Ed in the face. Place looked nice inside, I’m all about The décor. The menu lacked a lot, the taste lacked even more and the service was non exsistant. If you’re reading this Ed, know I’m punching you in the face. I would take Taco Bell or Qudoba or Chipotle any day over this place.

SO I have eaten at the one in Novi, and I thought it was OK. However, my husband and I went to this one while out shopping on the east side and it was like a Mexican TGIF. I asked the server what was the difference between the tres sauces they brought out with my empanadas. He stared at me blankly and said, «Uh honestly, I don’t know. Ones’s with mayo and I think the other ones almost identical with sour cream or maybe it’s just cream?» My salsa had a hair in it. My enchiladas had almost NO red sauce, and the beans and rice were the same as the corner dive Mexican place. I honestly like the Frontera red sauce enchilada packs more than I like their sauce… I left there feeling annoyed that I had allowed myself to spend almost 50 bucks for two people to have a mediocre lunch… I will never return.

Only one star for service… The only good thing about this place… The worst Mexican food we’ve ever had… There were 8 of us… But they’re still on Main Street in Rochester, I don’t get it… We’ll never go back

The only reason I’m giving two stars is for the service. Our waiter, Darryl, was very nice. He took good care of us during our otherwise very disappointing first and last visit. If this is Mexican food then I’ll kiss your foot! Canned refried beans. Homemade guacamole? I think not. I’m new to Michigan and if that place is representative of the Mexican food here then I’ll just pass. If you want good Mexican food then find a place where Mexicans own and run it. The Skinny Rita was so bad that I sent it back and had it removed from the bill. The search continues for REAL Mexican food.

Let me start out by saying, everything here is overpriced, thusly all my experiences are from Tuesdays when they have $ 1 tacos and $ 2 caronas. Service is borderline nonexistent, everything takes forever to get to the table and is frequently wrong. Be prepared to wait another eternity if you want your order corrected. Atmosphere has definitely taken a hit since the move from partridge creek. The tacos themselves are tiny, and I couldn’t imagine paying full price. They’re quite good though, and taste fresh.

Thoroughly disappointed. Came here for taco Tuesday and the food wasn’t that great, service was very slow and the kitchen mixed up our orders a few times. Definitely won’t be back.

This place has great food, and exceptional service! The Mahi Mahi tacos are really good and the complimentary chips and salsa are way better than most Mexican restaurants. They could use a few more draft beer selections, but overall a great meal

We decided to check out the new location at Lakeside. We had enjoyed the happy hours at the Partridge Creek location before they closed. It was strange that we were rushed, and the restaurant was empty. I was meeting a friend for happy hour and dinner, but I was 5 minutes late, happy hour was over. Since I wasn’t there, my friend ordered 2 drinks before 6, and the waitress resisted since she was sitting alone at the time. Is happy hour limited? She did eventually drink the Margarita. The drink was so full of salt that I couldn’t drink it. It was replaced. Food was good. Location nothing like the former Partridge Creek location. That was a beautiful restaurant, very large, comfortable and modern furnishings. The new place is nothing special, just your typical mall restaurant. Happy Hour use to be an occasion, at this location, there were only 5 people in the whole place.

Truly not good. Everything is so bland! The only thing I like on their menu? The burger. Sad considering that I love Mexican. I’ve tried it numerous times. No bueno.

The food and service was phenomenal. However, the«jumbo» margaritas were definitely on the cheap end. Couldn’t taste any tequila at all, and they were blended very poorly, to the point thAt my mom and I got all the«juice» out before our glasses were half empty… I know we were there on a «specials» day for said margaritas but I would have rather paid full price for a full quality margarita. The food was great though, and our waitress was super friendly and seemed so excited about her job. Loved it. Wish I remembered her name.

My family and I dined here on Wednesday for the $ 9.99 fajita dinner special. I’ve never been here, even when it was at Partridge Creek. I’ve heard mixed things about it so I really didn’t know what to expect. The hostess say my family of five in a round table meant for four people but squeezed five of us in. Waitress was quick and efficient. Needless to say we had chips and salsa coming out our ears. The chips and salsa had flavor and wasn’t stale. I ordered the Rojo Two Story– which is equivalent to a gordita crunch from Taco Bell except a million times better! Two decent size tacos served with rice and beans. Our table really didn’t have enough room for all our food and we were elbow to elbow. Some of the items seemed a little high in price but I was really happy with my $ 8.99 meal. I’ll be back!

I’ll start with the good. Food was great. $ 5 jumbo margaritas on Thursday. The ok was it was Very loud in there. The poor, we waited 5 minutes for the hostess. The bartender, a waitress, & A busboy all saw us standing there and didn’t even smile or say a word to us. They could at least have told us that someone would help us in a moment. Would try it again.

The food was OK, a little over-priced but it wasn’t bad. You couldn’t tell the difference between a Chimichanga and a burrito. The chips and salsa were very tastey. The waitress was terrible! I almost got up and walked out. The female server had a serious attitude problem. I almost walked out because I thought I came here to eat and relax and not have some punk girl give me lip. My mom and I are very nice people, we have no reason to find fault with anyone but this girl was rude. Mom ordered a coke and it came in a bottle… which is fine but mom is old school and wanted a glass and ice to go with it and she asked the lady if she could have a glass and ice and she questioned mom as to why she wanted it! We waited a long time for our drinks, which is no real big deal but we noticed everyone had chips and salsa on their table so after she delivered the drinks we still didn’t get chips and salsa. When she came back to take the order as she was leaving the table(in a hurry) I asked her if chips and salsa came prior to the meal and she actually said with an attitude, «Give me a minute!» as in, Relax already will you… can’t you see I’m busy here. She gave me a look and quickly turned her back on me. I couldn’t believe it. These are just a few examples. When she looked at me in a snotty way and said that, I seriously wanted to just get up and walk out and leave my wine on the table. I think I would have but didn’t want to upset my mom. I loved the atmosphere. It was very cozy and decorated to make you feel welcomed and relaxed. I’ll probably be back but hope I don’t get grizzly girl again.

I’ve been here a few times since they opened and I have nothing but great things to say! The staff is always welcoming and attentive. One of my favorite things is the table side guacamole, they make it in front of you, so you can choose what you like to add. The chicken & avocado empanadas are also another great appetizer. Beer is cold and the margaritas are good! The bar area is great to watch a game or take a shopping break.

It’s obvious they are cutting corners with expenses. I ordered steak fajitas. The steak was not even seasoned or cut properly. Cooked okay but I was kind of afraid to eat it because it tasted just wrong. My husband ordered the chicken fajitas. They were also unseasoned but he said they tasted less questionable. Maybe they were having an off day with the meat? I originally ordered my usual of the mushroom quesadilla but was informed by the waitress that it was only portobello mushrooms in it now. It used to include a variety of yummy mushrooms. We ordered tableside guacamole. It was tasty. Except that we basically paid for an employee to crush up avocados in front of us. He didn’t mix any other ingredients in it that we noticed past some onion. The tomatoes and cilantro we’re just scooped on top. However, the complimentary salsa is of the same good quality. But the habanero pepper sauce add in was white instead of orange. Um? The wait staff was kind of rude. The waitress kept trying to get my 1 year olds attention by clapping in his face. However, she was attentive to our needs as diners.
