Geno specials the best here. Me and my fiancé work late so not that many places are open for much longer after we both get off work. Phoenix has become one of our staple locations when we want a quick meal. Their food is so good here and they don’t mind you hanging out for a bit after you finish your meal.(we only do this if the place is less than half full)

Personally, my favorite coney island in the metro Detroit area. I generally stick with the core coney type offerings: coney dogs, chili fries, Geno special(aka hanni), greek salad. Pros: Open 24 hours, fast, friendly service, consistent quality, good/unique ambiance(they remodeled recently and it’s pretty nice inside for a greasy spoon), in business as long as I can remember Cons: I used to do breakfast and a few other menu items here, especially after a late night out, but generally feel you can do better on those selections elsewhere.

Ehhhh not what I remember. There are so many better Coney Island choices so unless you’re in a pinch chose one of the alternatives. The place is so run down that I tried not to think about my food coming from the kitchen. It’s best not to think about it. I miss my Phoenix Coney Island but mine was always the spot on van dyke. This one is not worth it. The only reason we stopped in was because our first choice was closed on account of the 4th of July weekend. Otherwise we would have kept on trucking.

The prices are great. The food is easily the best I’ve ever had at any coney island. The quality and freshness of the food far surpasses any other diner I’ve been to. And the selection is huge! I almost always get the #15, an omelet with chilli, green peppers, onion and cheese. If you’ve never had an omelet with chili, I highly recommend trying one. It tastes better than it sounds! I have also had their milkshakes, chili cheese fries, burgers, Reubens(fantastic), and other breakfasts. None have yet to disappoint. The service can be hit or miss. The cooks are wonderful, but some of the waitstaff doesn’t bother to smile, and never recognize me despite being more or less a regular in the past. The fact they’re open 24 hours is also a huge plus, but this is the kind of place I would easily go to in the middle of the day, not just at 2am when everything else is closed and I’m trying to avoid a hangover.

Worst service I’ve ever had at a coney! When I had went there it was after midnight and all I wanted to do was eat. Unfortunately, the service was terrible and the food awful. Overall bad experience and sadly I won’t be coming back.

Me and husband are regulars here. It is our go-to Coney Island. Open 24 hours so it’s great for coneys after a night out and lunch during the day as well. Everything I’ve tried from here has been great. From what I’ve noticed is it’s always the same girls working so I don’t think they have a revolving door of waitresses which is a good sign in my opinion. Love this place. Their breakfast specials are amazingly cheap as well as the entire menu. We actually ate here on Easter Sunday when our plans fell through. Try this place!

We go here about twice a month for weekend breakfast. Deuces Wild is excellent and low priced. If you don’t like«greasy spoon» you won’t like this place. The waitresses are always very nice and very quick to give service. Ask for an extra napkin to wipe the excess grease off the sausage and bacon and everything tastes good. Pancakes are very good. Fun to watch the cook make your food.

This is the hangout for the Sterling Heights residents. The teens meet their friends and families can eat. The waitstaff is personable and always great you with a smile. Great food and friendly staff. Check out out.

I don’t know what people are taking about. Yes, the place looks a bit older but it is always very clean when I go and the food is what you’d expect from a diner. It’s reasonably priced and typically I end up with enough for two meals. The perch are pretty decent and the chilli cheese fries are good. The staff is always friendly and I like that you can watch them make your food.

The only downside is that their bathrooms don’t have a changing table and I have kids. Boo. Food for two costs around $ 13.

Yummy gyro’s here. I’m not a fan of hot dogs so will usually get a gyro or hamburger. The service is perfectly mediocre and the food is typical greasy spoon good.

Phoenix Coney Island on Van Dyke has the Detroit coney and diner business down to a science. They use superlative ingredients and know how to serve them quickly. A couple must haves: –Phoenix Coney Dog: ¼ lb hotdog, bacon, cheese, chili, onions. Perfection. –Phoenix Free for all: $ 7.75, Phoenix Coney Dog, Chili, fried and drink. Value play. –Michigan Coney«Special», Natural-casing hot dog, loose ground angus beef, chili, yellow mustard, onions. Divine. –Deuces Wild: 2 Grade AA extra large eggs, 2 silver dollar hot cakes, 2 links of Oscar Mayer sausage, 2 strips of Oscar Mayer bacon, 2 pieces of your choice of toast. $ 3.50 breakfast of champions. Before you come here, check your coney game.

Just ate here after waking up in a great mood. However, the breakfast food at this location was a bummer. My sister and I both ordered an egg white omelette with hash browns. But the omelette was super watery and the hash browns were bathed in OIL. After I finished my plate my toast was soaked in the oil from my hash browns. The service was super rough. First off they(the waitress) seemed like I killed her cat. Secondly, she was talking extremely dirty and loud. In all seriousness I could not make a conversation without hearing about someone’s post on Instagram or the douche boyfriend. I was extremely upset with the service and to top it off with the bad undercooked food. I recommend going somewhere else to be honest and saving the money.

I just rediscovered Phoenix after moving back to this side of town. Holy cow, what a great find! They have more kinds of coneys here than any other«chain» you’ll find, and all of them are delicious. It’s a cool atmosphere with an interesting mix of people. It’s a nice small place, with the waitresses working the booths and counters spread out around the kitchen. They are all very friendly and attentive. Did I mention the food was great? I’ve had two of the different kinds of coneys, and breakfast, which is served 24 hours. The only slight minus is that the breakfast options pale in comparison to the rest of the menu, but you’re really coming here to get chili slathered on everything, right? But you will find much more than that on the really dense menu with lots of sandwich and dinner options. I’m psyched to try some of the other selections to see how they turn out. Definitely the top of my list for tube steak with a variety of toppings in this area!

Grew up next to this place and always make it in when I drive by. Love it and have yet to have a bad experiance in this place. The geno special is great just about everything is what you would expect from a coney. I almost knocked off a point for them not having g money working still, but he was a dirtbag anyway. Highly recommend and tip well, they do a great job here. =)

The definitive suburban Coney. This place is my Happy Days ‘Arnold’s’. Pretty sure i’m Potsy though. Regardless, I have been coming here since I could get behind the wheel and cram in friends 8 deep into a compact car. This is the place where ‘Free Fries’ was coined, because if you have young friends and some of them are broke, everyone pony’s up for a plate of fries for the broke ones. Yes, the stories run deep and wide in here and it hasn’t changed a bit in 25 years. I like it that way. Had a Chicago and a Detroit and some fries and a perfect cup of coffee after a great trip to the Dragonmead. I already want to go back.
