Great kids hot dog– my son loved it and wanted to return. Had a brisket sandwich. Very good — and toasted bun. Unfortunately the service was very slow.

The BBQ was great but not a «G rated restaurant». The food was great though. A restaurant that explains Steamboat Springs character.

Love this place! I am from Steamboat and go here every time I come back. The hoagie, burger, chicken lip sandwich, and hot link sandwich are all awesome. The bbq sauce is very good as well. Everything goes great with a PBR or Sierra Nevada ipa. Double Z has great service, and is among my favorite places to eat.

Alright folks, if you are a walk on eggshells type person or a little prissy, skip this one or just man up, yes it’s not the picture perfect quaint restaurant but that’s the point… it’s a great BBQ joint, that’s it, my boys and I come every year for fly fishing and we like the attitude and the food is good and yes it isn’t always perfect but have you ever actually cooked BBQ, not easy so enjoy it as it comes… life is good at the Double Z

Pretty sure the cook is drunk. He is drinking beer and taking shots. Our order was wrong and we could here him complaining about us. Don’t eat here.

I am amazed that this place has any good reviews. We waited an hour for our food! When we did get it, it was like cafeteria school food. We all felt sick after eating there, and when I walked past the kitchen, the pots looked like they hadn’t been washed in months! It’s your basic bar food. But worse. Definitely won’t go back. I felt bad for our server, I think she was the only one working that night. Really got our vaca off to a bad start, paying $ 70 for crappy food. Sheesh.

I hope my experience is isolated, but this was the worst food experience that I have had in years. We waited 1 hour before getting food and when we did, the chicken fingers, BBQ, and hamburger reminded me of something that I would get in the frozen section of a grocery store. The bill was 60.00 and and the service wasn’t that great. I pride myself on not being someone who doesn’t get bent out of shape over things like this, but this was extraordinarily poor on every level. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We are skiing in Steamboat and we ordered to-go food from here. The food was amazing, great taste, fast delivery! Being from Texas and knowing great barbecue and this barbecue was amazing, very impressed! I highly recommend to everyone!

Friendly service, but didn’t make up for the slowness and pretty mediocre quality of the food. The outdoor deck, near to the river and the sun that shines onto the deck on sunny days is a plus. Go for the nice spot, not for the food.

Authentic, local steamboat atmosphere. Now accepts credit cards!!! Food is amazing, ranch is to die for. Fries, hand cut and golden brown to perfection. Anything on the menu is amazing. BBQ is hand made and sold by the quart(along with the ranch). Prices are very reasonable for a BBQ place in a resort town. If you are looking for a great lunch with huge portions, swing on in, though seating is limited in the winter time without the deck options. Would always recommend!

This place is way overrated. The ribs were hard and chewy, the menu was meger and he prices were way too high. Oh, and they don’t take credit cards… but do take checks. Hello 1978…

This was recommended to us as «the best burger in Steamboat.» Geez! I sure hope not. Totally mediocre. Overcooked. Side of beans(NOT hot — but tasted ok) and slaw(we’ve had way better). We also had a bbq beef sandwich. Again, just ok. Meat not very tender but the portion was big. Fries were ok. Nothing special. Disappointing — because we were really looking forward to a GREAT burger… But honestly? The Wendy’s Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger we had on our roadtrip to get here was better. Sorry. Wish I had a better review.

Pretty good all around. Get the brisket. If you are here for lunch, do a half sandwhich… it will still fill you up. Cash only kinda sucks.

It pains me to give Double Z less than 5-stars because I grew up eating there and consider it a mandatory stop every time I am in town. The last time I went I was a bit disappointed by the Z-Burger though. It was still really good and beats most of the other burgers in town, but it wasn’t the blow-my-mind, amazingly-delicious, perfectly-too-spicy, mess on a bun that I remember so fondly. Hopefully this was an anomaly and not a new trend but other reviews I have seen make me worry a little bit. I still love the place and will eat there at every opportunity so this is probably a really harsh 4-star rating, but it’s their own fault for getting my expectations up so high with 20 years of perfection. P. S. — No credit cards. Get over it and carry some cash you crybabies

Had a great time here with the GF over the weekend. She is the rib hound — so we went with the St. Louis BBQ pork ribs. They were a little tough, but they were still very good. I really liked the BBQ sauce and the GF was gaga over the potato salad. The atmosphere is local dive bar with stuffed wildlife on the walls. The regulars were very friendly. I did frown at the pregnant chick stopping in for a shot and a beer…

Came across this little corner store after several friends gave glowing reviews. Who am I to argue with locals? Seating is definitely limited. The front of the restaurant has 2 tables with booth seating. There are 2 – 3 tables in the hallway right across from the kitchen exit. The back bar has bar seating. So really this place is optimized for take-out. The owner and her husband(the cook) were super nice, as were the wait staff. The menu is small and easy to scan — that’s good for a BBQ joint, sticking to the basics and doing them right. I ordered a full rack of pork ribs for $ 16.50 and it came with two sides. All the meats are smoked there and the sauce is pretty delicious as well. There are sizable looking ribs, not the puny things that you’ll get at the big chains. Delicious and not smothered in sauce. Friends ordered pulled pork sandwiches, chicken lips(tenders), and fish and chips. All were extremely happy with the food. I’ll definitely stop by on my next trip through town.
