Strange… came in and they said cash only credit card machine down… no biggie, they didn’t take AMEX anyway… food was ah? I guess OK. Kinda bland… no desert or coffee because cash only and I only had limited cash… But when the bill comes there is a note taped inside… if paying by credit card please leave tip in Cash… Really…sounds like times are hard and trends is trending downward… I won’t be back

i have been to trends many times, i love the intimate setting, the recent interior renovation brings you to the tuscany valley, great job with the murals, the food is sooooo tasty and i a m a very picky person, growing up with a grandma who cooked from italy and made fresh gnocchi and pasta. the short ribs are to die for… delish!!. the chef is very nice and friendly and comes out to greet guests for lunch and dinner. my whole family loves this place!

I finally tried this restaurant after all the years it’s been open and I can’t say that I cared too much for it. My friend and I went on a Tuesday, so it wasn’t crowded. They do offer a specials menu and pre-fixe menu, along with their regular menu. What I found strange was you could only pay cash if you did the pre-fixe, but if you were ordering off the regular menu, you were able to use your credit card. Weird! The service was eh. The bus boy was being so careful, he looked like he was going to drop everything. Our plates were taken away before the rest of the dish was done. We ordered the asian calamari, which were good. I tried the chicken alfredo parm, which was okay. I never order chicken parm anywhere I go, but I heard good things about it and it was different than your regular chicken parm dish, but not for me. It came with pasta, so the whole dish was heavy and too much to eat. The prices were okay, but they don’t take Amex. I left feeling I ordered the wrong dish, but I wasn’t wild about the atmosphere either, so I don’t know if and when i’ll be back.

UNFORTUNATELY UnilocalWILLNOTALLOW A ZEROSTARRATING, We had gone to Trends a couple of times per year since they opened. Decided to go in early February as a treat since we hadn’t been there in about a year. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! Prices foe drinks were ok. Appetizers ok. Dinner HORRIBLE. I ordered the pasta dish with fresh mozzarella, garlic, etc. Sauce? No… the pasta seemed not to be drained! Just about a quarter inch if liquid/water in the bottom of the plate. The pasta was dripping! It was a very tasteless dish. My husband ordered the ‘special’ veal chop. It was ‘lost’ on the plate! Never have either of us seen a chop so small. Btw, tasteless as well… Wonder if the chef has lost his sense of smell and taste. Service was good… will definitely NOT be going back. And will NOT recommend Trends. We have already warned many of our friends… I see Restaurant Stake-out did not help…

I went to Trends in 2011. I remembered the food being delicious which is why I brought my mother here for Valentine’s Day lunch. The waiter was very kind and offered us a lunch special that sounded great. We received salads and the dressing tasted nice. The entrees were not so good. I had a chicken dish that was similar to francese while my mother had a pasta dish with broccoli raab and vegetables. My food was so bland. The mashed potatoes had a gross aftertaste. My mom’s pasta had an extremely thin liquid(it couldn’t even qualify as a sauce) which was tasteless. She was shaking the salt shaker every 3 bites and said she could not add enough spices to make it taste good. The waiter was polite, prompt and i thought this was just a fluke. I returned a week later with my boyfriend because the wait at another local restaurant was obscene and we were starving. We ordered the Asian Calamari for an appetizer. The sauce was wonderful although the Calamari was slightly on the chewy side. I ordered Hawaiian Grouper which was stated on the menu as having a macadamia crust and a mango sauce. My boyfriend ordered the Alfredo Chicken Parm. The portions are so large that it’s almost ridiculous. I feel they could cut the price in half as well as the portions. Once again my food was completely under seasoned. The mango sauce was scarce and added nothing to the dish and the fish just seemed like it was fried in plain breadcrumb. I got no macadamia taste whatsoever. My boyfriend didn’t mind his food but it wasn’t fantastic. I then ordered dessert and 2 chocolate martinis. The dessert was described as a pecan crisp accompanied by fresh berries and ice cream. I was served a soggy cobbler type dessert which was sour with no pecans. The chocolate martinis were so strong I couldn’t finish mine. We spent over $ 160 on this dinner including the tip. Needless to say I will not return unless they get a new chef.

Love the food here. I usually get the Chicken Parm Alfredo and my wife gets the Pretzel Covered stuffed chicken. Never had a bad meal here.

Food okay large portions. Service very good. Charged for second cup of coffee. That is annoying. Would go back but nothing special.

It was overpriced and not so great. Had the Chicken and Lobster Imperial. For $ 30.00 I should have had a much bigger lobster tail. Service was a little inattentive and slow. I don’t think I’d go back.

Love the atmosphere and the portions are huge. Try the Asian calamari as an appetizer. Seafood is great here and the mashed potatoes are hand mashed and they’re delicious. Great staff and positive atmosphere. O and I worked here 5 years ago no bias.

there is a few reasons why this place gets a 3 and not a 4. Its a very nice location not big at all. ill say about 15 tables. a small bar when you first walk in. the décor is beautiful. the pictures flow with the paintings on the wall. very pretty. One thing that could go is the fake roses on each table, very cheesy. On to the food. they have a nice selection of entrees appetizers and stuff. there are only a few salads on there, which are your basics like a mozzarella salad, a caesar etc. so on and so forth. Every day the bread gets served with a different butter, which is a cool idea, if they would match the butter with the bread. we were served regular italian seeded bread, and a brown sugar walnut tasting butter. the butter was delicious, if it complimented a slice of pumpernickel. We started with the dry rubbed ribs(half rack) and the buffalo calamari. The ribs were delicious. very tender, good sweet flavor. and just enough not to be too filling as an appetizer. the buffalo calamari was a little disappointing. the flavor was there, but because they tossed it in a buffalo sauce, it made the tender calamari soggy. And they don’t make the bleu cheese in house, which upset me too. i don’t like going to a restaurant knowing the brand of bleu cheese because i use it at home(wish bone) But, the portion was HUGE! it was a little too big. UNLESS!!! its family style, and can be shared between 4 people, because it was way toooooooo much for two.(i don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing?) For a salad, we ordered the Arugula mozzarella and roasted red pepper salad. it was served with a balsamic reduction red onion and toasted almonds. It lacked seasoning. No salt, pepper, oregano, nothing. the balsamic reduction was reduced too much, it was thicker than chocolate syrup. and again, the portion was HUGEEEEEEEE! they either have really high food cost, or a really good produce company! And for an entrée my fiancé and i shared the Seafood Risotto. It had a full lobster tail, 3 shrimp, a few clams, and mussels and calamari. it SAID Saffron risotto, but i didnt taste, nor see it any where. and again, this dish lacked seasoning. the risotto was extremely bland. The lobster was cooked perfectly, as well as the rest of the seafood. If i had to give the chef any advice, it would be to fix up the portions, and don’t be afraid to use some salt. I probably wont be back since i don’t live in staten island, but i would tell people to check it out. Also, if you are pressed for time, don’t go here, the service is extremely slow, and there is a long wait in between courses.

So my fiancé and I checked this joint out because we heard they had amazing burgers. When I first ordered it I was like wow it looks really good. It was stuffed with cheese and bacon. I took a bit into it and… Yeah not what I expected. I got served a meatloaf legit a meatloaf it tasted like one with just cheese on it. Type pricy and service sucked!

We live in walking distance to the restaurant. The prices seemed a little high but we don’t mind paying these kind of prices for an excellent meal. I ordered a steak, it was not seasoned at all, and I couldnt find a piece of steak that I could chew without excessive fat and grizzle. It just wasn’t edible. When the waitress came over to ask what the problem was she seemed annoyed, and said she would tell the chef. A few moments later the chef came out and he seemed to be looking for an argument. He told me that a $ 25 steak should have a lot of fat, that this was the cut of meat take it or leave it! They did not offer me anything else, they did not apologize, they did not even offer me a free cup of coffee. I agree with the other reviewer when he said you would get a better meal at dunkin donuts!!! Don’t waste your time at this place!

I was referred to Trends by a friend who knows good food, and after last night I will never be the same… We started the night with a few drinks at the bar with Al, the BEST bartender ever-funny, friendly and inviting-a perfect start to what was yet to come. We had the Chef’s signature artichoke that was something not to be believed. It was so good and unexpected-truly love at first bite! Asian fried calamari and soft shell crab were excellent-Baked clams perrrrrfect! We tried 3 different steaks on the menu, all cooked to perfection. NOW the dessert-Oreo meets zeppole and has a baby-ill leave it at that. OFFTHECHARTSCRAZYGOOD!!! The Chef is a true visionary who knows his art. His passion is shown in the dishes he serves. This GUYGETSIT! I will be returning for sure. The place was immaculate from top to bottom. I will have to write Zagat and let them in on this Staten Island Gem.

Giving this a three because I’ve only gone once and trying to be fair. First I have to say I love the sweet home made butter that they give you to start along with the bread basket. I had the five course menu which is extremely reasonably priced. Although, I think since it comes with a salad already that they should have some other small starter choice if choosing the strawberry ricotta salada salad as your next course(which is also fabulous). The penne vodka fell a bit short for me and was far from one of the better experiences I’ve had. For my main course I ordered the Macadamia Encrusted Salmon… It came deep fried, had i known this I probably wouldn’t have ordered it, as it made it taste too fishy and killed the sweet taste of the macadamia nuts. By the time dessert came which is included in the five course menu we were quite full and asked the waitress if we could bring it home, we were told no since it was part of that menu she was not allowed to do that.(odd i thought i was paying for it!) So we decided to get it but they were out of the item requested and one was substituted with a ½ ice crème bomb(a little tacky since it was a substition to cut it in half!) and the other dessert was rice pudding, in which the rice was hard… so i guess dessert is not really their thing. Unfortunately I probably will not be returning, but as I said I’m only giving it a 3 because maybe it was a bad night, I hope.

Mine and my hubby’s favorite restaurant on Staten Island. Cute, small place with a great menu and even better food. During the week they have an 18 dollar or so lobster special, includes it all and is delicious. The steaks are grilled to perfection, Bavarian chicken, to die for and the portions of humongous. Highly recommend.

This is a great little spot. The fare is Italian meets New Orleans influence. The seafood is great and on Wednesday night its lobster night $ 25 for a great catch. The staff is great and the food is even better. The has quickly become one of our favorites in this area. Noise level can rise due to bad acoustics but you will soon forget after your second glass of house wine! Go and enjoy!
