No customer service what so ever! Not returning! Ruined our Father’s Day Brunch…

They ruined our Fathers Day brunch. No one informed us, at the time when our reservation was made, that we would be seated outside under straight sun light without any umbrellas. At the time the outside temperature was 85 degrees. When we asked manager to change our table, we were told that he is not able to do that. Since it was not possible to have brunch there under such conditions all seven of us, including two small children, had to leave and try our luck somewhere else.

Terrible. We made a reservation for fathers day, no one mentioned that it would be outside and in the sun. No umbrellas, no shade of any kind. We asked that they switch the table, it was 85 degrees outside, 7 of us dressed for brunch, and the table was in direct sunlight. Hot, burnt, sweaty or sick, nobody cared, this is the table the others are reserved for other people, there’s nothing we can do. Manager came over and sang us the same song, we literally walked out on our fathers day reservation and will not be returning here.

Just wanted to share a pleasant experience. This evening I had a pleasure of attending an event at The Stone House at Clove Lakes. Everything about this place is super special and beyond expectations. From the atmosphere to spectacular lake views, the Stone House oozes exquisite style and offers an unbeatable location. One of the most beautiful outdoor venues I’ve visited in a while, where you can enjoy the nature and a great meal at the same time. Then take a stroll in the park or rent a boat and catch a summer sunset — beautiful experience.

Went here for Mother’s Day because the location was very appealing. At night time they have beautiful outdoor seating with nice lighting décor. The inside is a little dated. As for the food, it could have been better. We tried the fillet mignon, pork chops, and steak and all agreed that although it was well cooked, the meat could have used more seasoning… in fact it seemed like there wasn’t any. Service was good throughout the evening. We tried the dessert platter after. All were pretty good but I wouldn’t recommend the chocolate cake. Too bitter!

This review is based on the food and service only. The place was beautiful, warm and cozy inside and out. Drinks– Warm sangria was amazing ! They make it in right front of you and its perfect on a cold night. The other drinks we ordered were perfect. Not too strong and not too weak. Food– We had the valentines day menu and it was not good at all. Everything we ordered from the salad, apps to dessert was all pre made and tasted like it was frozen. It reminded me of food you get a wedding or catering hall. Service– Started off good until we had to ask 4 times for more water. We felt a little neglected. They also added on a 18% gratuity for 2 people which i thought was ridiculous. i don’t know if they do this all time or maybe because it was Vday but i was little taken back especially since we received poor service. Overall, i would go back only for a drink at the bar to enjoy the view and ambiance. Ill eat somewhere else afterwards.

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for so long now and finally went last night. Everything was amazing! The food, the service, the live music, the setting… everything! The hostess was so sweet, she gave us our choice of table and we ended up sitting in a cozy spot with oversized chairs. Our waiter and food runner were both super professional and helpful. We did not want for a thing. Our waiter even helped us select a nice bottle of wine to compliment our meals and we absolutely loved it! It was clear that the food here is made with love and only fresh ingredients. I was really blown away by the flavors and presentations. Compliments to the Chef! Looking forward to returning in the summer to try their outdoor dining!

My boyfriend and I came here for our 2 year anniversary and it was absolutely wonderful. We were able to score a wonderful Groupon which was very generous. We got a seat right near the fireplace! We had dinner reservations and it was in November so we didn’t get as wonderful a view of the surrounding area as we had liked but overall, it was breathtaking and romantic. The food with definitely delicious and the service was absolutely delightful. I would definitely consider returning and am always recommending the place for special occasions.

We went on Valentine’s weekend which means prix fixe menu which usually means your food is going to suck. I am happy to report that this wasn’t the case this time around. We shared our apps: I had the calamari with an Asiany sweet chili sauce and herself had the clams casino. My only complaint is that the clams weren’t shucked so you ended up doing battle with them to get the meat out. Instead of getting a composed bite, you got what you could get. We both ordered the filet with truffled mash and some manner of veg(I forgot which.) The filet was well executed but can we pleasepleaseplease stop with calling things truffled if they don’t actually have any truffle flavor in them? The mash was fine on its own. It didn’t need a fancy title it didn’t earn to impress. To finish, I had«cookie butter mousse» and I had zero idea what to expect. I was really surprised what I got — it was a mousse made from Trader Joes cookie butter with speculoos cookies crumbled in. It was pretty imaginative, I thought. The Stone House is that — an old stone house sitting on an island in the middle of Clove Lake. The physical plant itself is one of the nicest on the island. Here’s the thing — it was cold as abandoned hope that night and they kept the place perfectly comfortable. Its a small thing, but it mattered. It wasn’t cheap and I would not remotely consider it a value. With drinks, $ 149 for two fixed price and a $ 5 upcharge for the filet(seriously?) our bill was a little north of $ 200. Was it good? Yes. Would I go back. Oh yeah. Was it worth $ 200 clams? Not by a long shot.

Honestly, I don’t know where to start. My boyfriend and I came here for the first time for Valentine’s Day and it certainly won’t be the last. Between the ambiance, service, food and wine, this place definitely exceeded all expectations. Peter, the owner, came by a few times to make sure we were happy, as well as Bill, our waiter. Peter and his staff have done a wonderful job with this restaurant and will continue doing so in the future. Within a couple of hours it has become my favorite establishment on the island. Thank you!

This place is amazing. A quaint and romantic atmosphere which is a perfect place to bring a date. It’s truly a cozy atmosphere especially on a cold night. The staff was extremely attentive and very professional. Ignacio was well prepared and had thorough knowledge of the entire menu. His recommendations for our preferences were spot on. The burrata was probably some of the best I’ve eaten and Its a dish I order almost every time I go out. The glaze is very unique and really completes it. The mushroom flatbread was also very well put together. We shared the Pot Pie and Shrimp Cavatelli. The pot pie is very rich and filling, but man was it tasty. I am a big guy who loves to eat and it was very hard to finish the entire dish. The tomato jam in the shrimp Cavatelli gives this a sweet but subtle finish and I highly recommend both dishes. It also came with a lot of giant shrimp unlike some other places on the island we dine at. Do yourself a favor and leave room for dessert too! The cookie butter mouse parfait was UNREAL. Paired with the warm sangria and I went straight into a food coma. Loved every second of it and can’t wait to go back! Peter has really done a nice job with this place. Well done!

A perfect getaway to escape the cold! I enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of the snow covered park and iced over lake from the coziness and warmth of the beautiful fireplace in the oversized tufted chairs! Sipping a signature hot sangria, which was a show in itself with a Flaming glass and cinnamon sticks; it was the perfect way to unwind! But it’s almost impossible not to pick on something while enjoying the amazing wine list, so a cheese plater was fitting. Garnished with sun dried blueberries, crushes chestnuts and home made toasted baguettes! It’s was perfect perfect perfect!!! But it would have been a crime if I left without having the famous cookie butter mousse!!! It was incredible! I will certainly be back for dinner!

I had my baby shower at Stone House in November. It was such a wonderful experience. The park setting and bridge is idyllic. The building reminds me of the lake house in godfather. Unlike the godfather house the inside of restaurant is warm and cozy and it is right on the lake. I Love this restaurant because it is upscale but not pretentious. Like the owner the Staff is attentive but not intrusive no ego or oversell. Food is awesome with fresh ingredients. I had a brunch with three courses and desert table. Although my lunch had set choices the quality was still the same and everything came out hot. We had lots of drinks and didn’t have to wait at all. We hung out and talked and we never felt rushed. There were two other large parties but our service didn’t suffer in fact I hardly noticed. You can tell its staffed well and they all seem calm and supportive of each other, not running around sweating and rushing like other busy restaurants. It makes for good energy. Now for the bathroom; the problem is its soooo small and antiquated. Plus it was very humid that day and there’s no air in bathroom so everyones hair frizzed. Kind of a problem especially when there is only two stalls and three parties(showers, brunches mean lots of women.) I know management is fully aware and they are working on it. If the restaurant does as well as I think it will bathroom renovations will be coming real soon. I will be back for sure and if we can swing it we will be having my sons’ baptism there as well. Thank you Amy G.

So my birthday rolled around and I decided I wanted to go and party hard… i.e. sit in the big, cozy dining room by the fireplace I had heard so much about(the joy of a January birthday… you are freezing on your special day and the best gift is warmth). And I do not have a single regret. I am pleased as pie that I chose this restaurant. We had a table near the fire. It’s a small dining room so no matter where you are you’re basically near the fireplace. Which is lovely. The décor, soft lights, and entire setting create a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance. Then you get your menu, and everything looks delicious. Well, I had the eggplant steak, my parents the pork chops. The appetizer of stuffed mushrooms with sweet potato was adorable and tasty. But the meals — mmm. They were so flavorful… I honestly can’t rave more. I never finish a full restaurant-sized meal anymore and I am sitting here gleefully stuffed(you can roll me I’m so round right now). I ate it all. And then dessert. Holy holy COOKIEBUTTERMOUSSEBATMAN. Seriously, order this. Please. It’s velvety, buttery, & decadent. Cherry on top? The hot sangria. It’s a veritable Broadway show how they put it together for you tableside, flaming alcohol and all. And it tastes sweet and strong. Back in my day I could have polished it off and it’d have been worth 3 drinks.(I have 3 sips now and I’ll tap dance to Biggie for you.) Service was great, friendly, and attentive. I have to go back and try more. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to get away to a place that feels nestled into a quieter little corner of NYC. There’s another room overlooking the lake and I imagine it’s wonderful in the summertime or even with any kind of daylight, with the view.

This was our first time here. We were here for Christmas Eve dinner. Our dinner was delicious. My husband and I started with the cold fish salad and my son had the lamb chops. Both were great! For dinner we chose salmon, filet mignon and lobster tails. Filet was soft like butter and all were flavorful. We ended with the fig cheesecake, warm chocolate cake and butter cookie mousse pafait. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was the parking lot on the way out. They couldn’t find my keys and then our ticket was handed back by someone, who did apologize, but said he really wasn’t working. Scenery was beautiful and I’m sure even more so in the spring. Will definitely give it a try on a regular day. Enjoy:)

Our first time since the new ownership. Same amazing atmosphere but with an incredible new menu and a fantastic staff! Our entire dinner was delicious, but if I had to site our faves I’d say that the pear/blue cheese empanadas were to die for and the marscapone porcini mushroom ravioli were heavenly! For dessert you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you didn’t have the warm sangria and the cookie butter mousse. I haven’t ordered, let alone finished a dessert in ages, these were worth every calorie! We will be back without a doubt!

Sad, wilted, fried«brunch» buffet of breakfast foods — the only option for Sunday dining? Please. $ 26 for a limp line of fewer options than you would find in a free breakfast buffet at a motel? Nope. The quality of the items served? Lower than hospital food. The park is pretty but the restaurant is dark and drab inside. The outdoor seating is cute. It might be worth coming here to sit outside and have a cocktail. As far as coming here for the food: If you were trapped in the park and your only other option is to catch wild animals and eat foliage to survive, you would be better doing that. Eat elsewhere.

This may have been my first visit to Staten Island, but it definitely won’t be my last, thanks to The Stone House. My little brother and I decided to come here for lunch before heading to the Staten Island Children’s Museum and we were so glad we did. While it was a bit of a journey to get here – it’s in the middle of Clove Lakes – the little trek was more than worth it. We were seated at a table with these huge velvet armchairs in a sprawling dining room with huge ceilings. It was the perfect setting for lunch by the water. To start, we split the Wild Mushroom Flatbread, which was cut and served to us individually. A nice touch. The mushrooms were perfectly seasoned and tasted great with the goat cheese and white truffle oil. A great start to the meal. I then ordered The Stone House Burger, which was delicious. Always a fun of caramelized onions, I was seriously so pleased that the patty was topped with a huge heaping of them. Along with the chipotle aioli, cheddar and crunchy sweet potato fries I substituted my fries for, this burger was a winner. And for only $ 12 bucks? Yeah I’ll be back. Since they allow you to order items from the dinner menu for lunch, my brother decided to order the Lamb Shank. Not only was there such a generous amount of it(ALLTHEMEAT), but it was so tender that it literally came off the bone. Not even sure how he did it, but my little 12-year-old brother ate every single bite of that meaty goodness. I was kinda bummed at first that I didn’t have any room for dessert, but then realized that this gave me a reason to come back soon. Sounds like a great plan to me!
