Ordered jumbo shrimp cocktail and greek salad to go. The shrimps were medium sized, large would be a stretch and jumbo would work under a magnified glass. There were only 4!!! To make it worse they were piping hot. Then the cocktail sauce was ketchup; actually scratch that. The cocktail sauce tasted like canned Ragu on sale from a bodega. The greek salad looked like it was made by someone rationing food. 2 olives, 2 strips of anchovies, 1 stuffed grape leave, a sprinkle of feta and they forgot to put the dressing on the side for me. I know rent is expensive in nyc but for 27 dollars I should get decent food made with care.

We eat here on weekends usually a family breakfast… the food is so-so and the waitresses are definitely burnt out. But there’s a older gentleman who is the hardest working busboy I have ever seen. We actually look forward to seeing the guy, because our coffees are always topped off and he always has a smile and kind words. I hold this sort of work ethic up for my kids to see and learn from. These 4 stars are for him. If he wasn’t there I’d be giving this place 2 stars.

Excellent food and service. Prices are reasonable. I used to come here in the late sixties and early seventies. I am here on vacation and have come here five days out of seven. This place has survived for good reason. It is good. They do have a bar.

Oh boy. Here we go: after attending a funeral of a close relative, me and my boyfriend ordered pick up from here around 10:30. We ordered a Belgian waffle and an open faced roast beef sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes on the side. I get to diner 20 minutes later and after waiting for several minutes, the old man who claims to be the manager told me the mashed potatoes were«old and soggy» and would we accept fries. I said okay because what option do I have. They’re potatoes. Fine. Paid my bill of $ 24.36, went home. Opened food to a cold, floppy waffle and a four slices of deli cold cut roast beef. The fries were undercooked and some were green. The bread was stale and soggy. I order often from this diner and although I often have issues with the food, it’s convenient. We call the diner and proceed to tell them all of the issues with the food. The old man said it was nonsense, no one ever complains about the roast beef. After going back and forth, finally my boyfriend asks what his options are. The man starts laughing so we put everything in one container since it was all crap anyway and returned to the diner. I bring him the food and tell him I want my money back, everything was very bad. He insists on opening it to see what was wrong with the food. He starts putting his fingers on the toast beef and bread and waffle. He starts complaining that we combined the food and then refuses to give us a refund even though the food was now inedible because he decided to put his hands in it. He says he will only give us new food which we don’t want. I just want to go home at this point. Long story short, he got very rude and threatened to call police so I decided I would call because I was the one with no food and no money. They arrived, told the man to give us something for our money’s worth if he wasn’t willing to give a refund. Police said they couldn’t really get involved since it was domestic or something like that. So after considering ordering food and seeing the old man walk into the kitchen and come back smiling, I immediately figured he told the staff to mess with my food and no longer wanted to eat. So my boyfriend said he would order the amount of liquor of $ 26. The police told him to make the drinks and not engage with my boyfriend anymore. However, when they left, he tormented my boyfriend, telling him ge couldn’t sit at the bar, asking if it was«necessary» that police had to come(he was the one who threatened to call). My boyfriends wallet was at home so I ran to the house to go get it. During that time I was gone, I guess the old man realized he was now stuck serving drinks to someone he thought he could disrespect, because he decided to ask my boyfriend«where’s the chick?»(Referring to me) and how he didn’t want to see me cry. He decided to give the money back. After about an hour of this, he had finally decided to refund him. During everything in the diner, there was a big family there with little children trying to have a meal. Clearly this diner has no respect for other diners. Also: he claimed the diner had a no refund policy but could not produce evidence and actually in the past I had refunds there. There is nothing posted and a good restaurant would satisfy the customer especially when I immediately came back with the order. This diner is awful. I’m surprised it remains open with their terrible, under/over cooked food. The manager said it was«bad luck» that every time I eat food there it’s bad. Go to the Dakota Diner. Much nicer staff.

Used to be a regular there. Lately, no so much. Careless cooks, frequently burned, overcooked food is brought to the table and the waiter tries to pass it off as good… to me, not even close. The end for me was last night. … $ 24 fried fisherman’s platter so over cooked that I left half behind. Plate came out with just the disastrous fried fish… no tarter sauce, no potatoes, not even a slaw garnish. Then I had to ask the waiter for the fries — which were supposed to be included. That was a task… they came out cold. That’s it for me. There are way too many good places to eat on the island — including diners. Time to move on.

Had a lunch meeting here. Lunch was good. Service was ok, not fantastic. I am not the smallest guy, but I’m not the biggest either, the table at the booth was very tight!

Food is good. Greek chicken and hot open turkey are my favorites. It has gotten a little pricey for a diner.

This is a pleasant neighborhood diner. I go for breakfast often. The coffee is delicious. I have yet to be disappointed. This is a «Sunday morning date with my wife» diner.

My family has been eating here for over 10 years. The owner is a true gentleman and the food has always been above average. Now that they offer delivery, we have the luxury of staying home and having a choice of food delivered to our home.

If I could give this diner no stars, I would. I have been here multiple occasions and every time I have been disappointed. Between oily soup, burnt mozzarella sticks and just plain grease lathered tasteless«panini» sandwiches which weren’t even pressed…

A diner is a diner. They’ve gotten better over the years. Definitely cleaner. My mom enjoyed the Long Island Iced Tea.

Let’s start with the facts; diners are diners. They will serve you anything, but none of it is very good. So you stick to the basics like a grilled cheese, easy right? Well that would be good if they actually cooked it and the cheese was melted and the toast wasn’t laden with butter dripping out of it. Skip this place and go to one of Mike’s diners. The food quality is tremendously better.

Warning: they can’t cook home fries for shit. I complained for five years: «The potatoes are NOT cooked» «The potatoes are under cooked» etc. «oh yes thanks for telling me» P. S. they never stopped making these uncooked nightmares, not even a little bell pepper in there. nothing but undercooked shall I say RAW potatoes? yuck. Love this place but it is pricey. Love that south american older man who pours the coffee and is so sweet. you should eat here just to meet him on a Sunday morning.

I used to live within walking distance of this diner when I lived in Staten Island and would eat here at least once a week. I went back there yesterday for the first time in almost a year. It’s still the same comfortable place to sit and eat. I’ve been here with friends and I’ve been here alone, and like all other diners, the most important thing about coming to Kings Arms is that you end up with the satisfaction of having a belly full of good food when you leave. I usually order one of the omelettes, along with home fries and toast. My food is usually served within seven minutes of ordering it, and the waitresses are very good about keeping your coffee cup full. I’ve read many of the other reviews written about this diner and I don’t necessary disagree with what others are saying. We all have our preferences. Maybe I’m biased because this diner is in my old neighborhood. I’ll always eat here whenever I’m in Staten Island.

Not worth the price! A diner should know how to properly cook over-medium eggs. And when I ask for dry toast I mean NOBUTTER. Too many other breakfast joints on Staten Island — don’t come here.

I give this place the extra star because the nice old gentleman that works here is so sweet and awesome, always coming to refill your cup of coffee and making sure your glass of water is filled up too. He is always pleasant and very nice. The food is okay, nothing special, I really think it needs a new up do on food and specials. And those old faded out green booths can use a nice cleaning and change. I can see how they wont really change cause its been around for a while and I think people come here on a regular and are just use to way things and there’s nothing wrong with that, if you enjoy your dine in then it’s all peaches from there. This is not a typical diner because its not open late or over night. Which I don’t blame them since there located by a lot of college bars and I cant see them tolerating the drunken bafoons that walk in. I come here for just a quick bite to eat to get my morning going and recharged plus it’s the closest to me.

This is what you get when you don’t check the Unilocal reviews first. I should have learned this from my Mambo Taliano experience. Anyway, service is good and the only reason this is not a 1 star review. If prices had been better it may have even gotten 3 stars. Unfortunately, the main down fall to this place is the high prices for extremely sub par food. We ordered a reuben and a turkey club sandwich, presumably items that are«safe» and hard to mess up. Guess not. Both were bland, the club lacked bacon and the lettuce had an unwashed flavor. The coffee was atrocious. If you didn’t already know from the other reviews, it’s a big PASS.
