Nice neighborhood place with good food and friendly atmosphere. A good go-to dinner spot if you just want a good meal with little fuss at a reasonable price.

Really cute little local pub and restaurant that has a small dining area and menu. If your looking for just a soup, salad, burger or wrap this is your spot. Not really much of entrée choices except a ribeye. The workers are really friendly and nice and always check up on you to see if you need a drink or anything else. Not crazy about the food I ordered, I enjoyed most was my cup of baked potato soup! I had the grill shrimp which was pretty over cooked and charred and had way to much pepper seasoning. I will come back and I think I will try there burgers. Bar area gets pretty crowded with locals and I love all the Irish décor and high spirits they have in here.

Food is excellent for a pub and the service is almost always good. They have a small outdoor seating area in the back which is okay. Burgers are good and they have a side room that I just discovered a few weeks ago when I went there with a party of ten.

Crunchy potato skins & a burnt dry cup of chilly. Not Joyce’s finest hour. The waitress was the best thing, unfortunately i will not be going back any time soon.

Worst food, service, everything! We waited 30 mins to be seated. They sat 2 other parties who arrived AFTER us before us. People raves about their burgers so that is what we ordered. It tasted like burnt charcoal. My husband ate one bite and could not stomach the rest! Then they took another 20 minutes to give our bill because the computer went down. Then when I finally gave them my card to pay, the charged me for someone else’s bill! That took another 45 minutes of waiting for them to fix! What a NIGHTMARE! Never eat here! whatever you do!

Joyce’s Tavern is a wonderful, friendly neighborhood place to meet and eat and have a drink. The food is very good and fresh. I love the burgers and home made French fries, both sweet and white fries. Plenty of beers and mixed drinks to choose from. Not to forget Claire’s home made sweets and treats. In good weather the patio is a nice place to eat. They have live entertainment some nights. Most of all I love the friendliness of the place. It is near the Eltingville train station, and open late in case you need a snack.

My favorite neighborhood bar. You may walk in a as a stranger, but you’ll definitely leave as a friend. They’re old school respective & traditional, it’s one of my favorite things about them. The burgers are great and the corned beef is even better. Always fresh. Definitely a must try!

Joyces tavern is definitely a come as a friend, leave as family type place. I have had the privilege of dining and drinking there for years and the food, the staff, the customers and the DRINKS always get better. The burgers are something you don’t want to miss!

We are new in town and looking for a nice Irish pub. I had chicken Marsala and my wife had the Corn Beef. Both were excellent choices. I even ate my spinach. The beer menu is limited. Definitely opt for a dessert. The wait staff was great. And it was a very easy walk from the train. We will be back.

Great burgers, really! Nice wait staff, cold beer etc. but really someone needs to wipe down the walls, pictures etc. a real turn off if the sun hits the wrong way when your eating… really dirty walls. Also need to warn about the ramp into the dining room since you can’t see in the dark! Still, the best burgers ever.

I have the pleasure of living across the street from this neighborhood staple and frequent it quite often. This place is your quintessential Irish Pub. They have a small but solid menu which includes Cottage Pie(made with beef) — not to be confused with Shepherds Pie which is made with lamb. They also have daily specials which are more often than not outstanding.(If they’re on the menu that day, try the mussels.) The tap beer selection is limited but always fresh and ice cold. The bartenders are super friendly and have a knack for knowing when to chat you up or just let you drink in peace. The décor looks like you may have ridden to the bar in a DeLorean, but to me that’s part of the charm. I am a sucker for a good«dive bar». The highlight of Joyce’s however, is the cheeseburger. Grilled to juicy perfection and served on a toasted bakery fresh bun this burger will change you — deep down in your soul. Best burger on the Island — hands down!

I love Joyce’s because it is one of the few remaining places on the Island that has an authentic neighborhood tavern atmosphere. Add to that great burgers, friendly bartenders and generations of fans, it is a winner.

I still love the burger. My ‘go to’. A couple of new beers in the rotation, and a new or different tap system(the beer is chilly, chill, chill). Nice to see an ‘old throwback’ like Joyce’s holding down the fort. Glad to see the former cook back at the helm!

Joyce’s is a cute little tavern right near the train station in Eltingville. We heard that the burgers were really good so we decided try them. In short this place is a bar. Packed for happy hour. The burgers were char cooked made to order. They were juicy with all the fixins. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. Joyce’s hasn’t been remodel prob since it opened and same with the ventilation system in the kitchen. Its def a neighborhood staple and if your looking for a beer and a burger this is def the place for you.

Joyce’s Tavern is the neighborhood Irish bar that always has a pleasant atmosphere, a cold beer, and Bartenders that wear Shirts & Ties, because that’s how it’s been done for the last 50 years.
