This is a great find. Especially for Staten Island. I love roti. There’s is good. They only have doubles on Friday Saturday. And the man behind the counter is sweet. Have gone twice already and haven’t been disappointed.

Buss up shut is the best man — too bad they don’t have it all the time. This is the only place where I can get veggie roti and buss up shut. Matter of fact, about to call them now!

Stopped by the Island Roti Bakery on the recommendation of a friend who lives near by and really likes them. I picked up the beef roti, and did not get a chance to eat the sandwich that same day. However, it was a really good sandwich and very enjoyable, especially if you like that taste of curry. The sandwich itself is huge and can easily be shared by two people. I’d go back and pick up another one if I was in the area, and think I would try the goat or chicken roti next time. Price is inexpensive, and the sandwich was made fresh, on the spot, and to order. Their patties with coconut rolls also sounded like they were worth a try.

When Staten Islanders decide how to live, please throw a physical embodiment of this review at their face! Pastosa Ravioli Gavone Worker 5: «Oh ya I fuckin’ eat everything! Sushi, Chinese, Indian… you ever been to Indian Clove? I hit that up all the time… it’s excellent.» Gino: «uhhhh oh ya I have heard positive things, but haven’t had it yet» Gino After Having It:(Please See Un-Positive Unilocal Review) Pastosa Ravioli Egotistical Douche-Nozzle 8: «Ya I don’t usually do Kim-Chi…well unless I’m at someone’s house and it’s a part of the food… or if i go to Korean BBQ» Gino’s Thought Stream:(«uhhhhh…and Kim Chi would be eaten where else??? You are obviously the expert on Korean Food since you ONLY like to eat Kim Chi at Korean BBQ and not while you enjoy Jagerschnitzel with a nice Stein of Eggenberg Dunkel Eisbock like 90% of the Kim Chi eating world») Yes Island Roti Shop will continue to lay on Victory BLVD like a murky oasis of defunct auto-focus commerce amidst it’s Ethnic Brethren shapeshifting not a single WHITE soul. And yet, there its door will remain at an unthreatening open angle, ever-possessing behind it’s cloudy glass veneer, 5-dollar meals of the most extreme flavor capacities. Trinidad Roti Sandwiches and Curry Plates and Doubles… Ox Tail and King Fish and Channa and Yes, Chicken, oh-my. Poppies will hopefully make Staten Islanders sleep… sleeeeeeeep. Crowne Heights, Glenda’s, still furrows my balls better than anything, but Staten Island’s Ghetto holds Island Roti Shope with a couple of Indian-Looking Trini’s ready to serve you cheap orgasms of calories with a nice smile and a genuine sense gastronomic pride. Indian Clove can suck it long and hard for all I care, because they aim to cater to the Undead. Riders of Rohan, we ride North!

If nothing else, this place is great for the price alone. The roti is fresh and stuffed to the max with your chosen ingredients. Personally, I get the vegetable roti and, no matter how hard I try, can never finish the whole thing – a bit more than half if I’m lucky. The area is gross and the storefront lacks character. The signage boasts that they cater for all occasions and that they sell«Trinidad Style Chinese Food». The hours are sporadic. I’ve walked past late at night and it has been open but have also walked by around dinner time and it was shuttered. I guess that’s the luxury of a family run business – which I believe it is. There isn’t indoor seating… perhaps a bench or two by the window. It’s not somewhere you want to dine. So grab your $ 5 roti and head home to enjoy the island goodness. Their special hot sauce is not for the faint at heart. I consider myself to be a spice addict but I cannot even begin to put that liquid fire on my roti. Tobasco will do just fine.
