There are Zagat ratings and all kinds of highly rated reviews about this place posted all over their restaurant. It almost felt like a self-promoted advertisement. Howver, it was surprisingly decent but not definitely can improve on certain things. Can I call it a hidden gem in Staten Island or I was just really hungry? I went for their lunch buffet around 12:30PM and no one was there. One other couple showed up while we were eating and they ordered something on the menu and opted out of the buffet. Fried chicken wings were good and had some heat but little too soggy for my taste. There was no tandori chicken on the menu but just diced curry chicken and marsala. Some type of herb chicken was offered but it was too sour. They only had 5 hot food bar with not much food inside. There’s a small bar by the entrance with TV and main dining area to the left and performance stage to the far left side. I wonder if they have performances on the weekends. I may or may not return. If I run out of options and get tired of eating Italian after Italian in Staten Island, then perhaps. Until then, sayonara!

I just moved to Staten Island and had high hopes for this place as its one of very few Indian restaurants on the island. Unfortunately, I was sadly disappointed. The only star given would be for the service. Girl on the phone was friendly, as was the delivery guy. But the food… not so good. Rice seemed very stale and un fresh. The peas in my mutter paneer were still crunchy and undercooked. I ordered medium spice and there was literally no spice and very little flavor. All I could taste was cream. My husbands goat curry, which I asked to make extra spicy, was also flavorless. My husband managed to spice his up with some extra onions and green chilies, but I ended up tossing mine as it was basically inedible. Samosas were also pretty bland. Pretty disappointed overall. Especially since it was so pricy. I spent almost $ 50 for one order of samosa, two entrees, and one piece of naan. I think I would have been more satisfied just eating my actual money. Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll be ordering from here again any time soon. :(

The goat curry was excellent. Lots of meat. Garlic bread was tiny and not worth the $ 5. Samosa was hot but lacked flavor. The rice had a taste and texture i didnt love. The music was nice but the décor was confusing. Dont know whats going on with the liquor license. They screwed up our order and ended up being out of that item. I would order the curry via take out when I’m not in a rush.

Super-Americanized Indian food. Meaning: loads more sugar, cream, butter/ghee than would ever be appropriate, and not nearly enough spice. This was surprising to me as their menu does have some unusual and regional choices, but ultimately even those ended up way too laden with sugar and fat to be enjoyable. Naan was OK. Prices may seem high but portions are large. Paneer dishes, for example, come with the largest chunks of cheese I’d ever seen, and that’s cool because some places are very stingy with the paneer. Too bad the flavor isn’t there to match. Ironically, you can get better much better Indian from Dosa Garden. But ultimately if you’re not in the delivery range of little Sri Lanka you may not have many other choices.

Once more, this place that we have followed around SI for years, has changed hands and we have returned as regulars one more, changing back and updating our Unilocal review back up to 4 stars, I am pleased to announce. The main thing is that the daily and weekend Buffets are back, a great value, and really good! The chicken dishes are delicious, they haver several great appetizer offerings and even tasty lamb during the weekend buffets! The service is now friendly and wonderful and the buffet is much better now than Taste of Indian(the meats and Tandoori are moist and delicious) and we now return weekly!

Good food and service. Ordered the Tokri(assorted bread basket), the staff came by to explain the type of bread. Ordered the Chicken Tikka Tandoori Grill, it was a 15 – 20 minute wait for the grill. It would be nice if the staff had told us about the wait time before but he did explain it afterward. They should state the wait time on the menu so customer will know. The Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious but I wish it came with more sauce so I can dip my bread.

We ordered online… delicious food, fast delivery, but we checked off to send utensils and napkins and stuff and we didn’t get those. also, no naan bread is included, not even plain. we spend $ 45 on a chicken dish, a lamb dish, and a vegetable dish and felt like we could have gotten a little more bang for the buck.

Very surprised at some of the negative comments about Indian Clove, but I understand that experiences vary. I’ve been to this location twice so far and both experiences have been positive. The food is fresh, drinks are tasty and the staff were very attentive.

Dropped by for takeout on my way home from Brooklyn. Order was done in 20 minutes, just in time for me to catch the train so I was pretty pleased. Got the Saffron Chicken which was pretty good.

Once this moved from their original location on Clove Road the quality and customer service suffered severely. I actually was thinking about hosting an event here and when I called they told me their rate was $ 40 with open bar. When I went there to discuss it the person I spoke to said it was a lie and that it’s actually $ 40 just for open bar. Are you joking? Most other venues on Staten charge $ 20 for just open bar. Clearly this guy had never been asked to host an event where clients wanted to pay for open bar and was pulling numbers out of thin air. If that wasn’t bad enough we went to dine in one day and it took 40 minutes to get apps. They thought we didn’t notice that they were pumping out delivery orders every 10 minutes and clearly didn’t prioritize dining in. I guess they changed managers and with that all the quality went out the door. Missed opportunity for a good Indian resto in SI. If you want the best go to Jersey or Queens.

The host was most gracious explaining the food & menu. Environment is very delightful & relaxing. The food is «A MUSTHAVE» do not go into your next life without trying this authentic Indian food !!! Even if you must pay a toll well worth it.

Damn, I don’t understand all the hate? Went here and it was AWESOME. Maybe it is hit or miss? Super awesome Indian food that isn’t greasy or sugary.

There are much better options for indian cuisine on the island. I’ve been to the old location on Victory and Clove and think the food was marginally better there. Came here midweek and apart from the poor service(very slow, forgot drinks), the food was very bland, which I thought was impossible with Indian food. The highlight for us was the drums of heaven appetizer. The chicken tikka masala and biriyani left much to be desired. We also asked for it to be extra spicy, I can only assume they switched our dishes with someone who asked for no spices whatsoever. The restaurant itself is probably the nicest space of all the indian restaurants on the island. It’s unfortunate the food doesn’t rise to the décor. Perhaps a good spot for an after-work drink and an appetizer. Ample parking. If you’re looking for better curries, try taste of India in New Dorp or one of the many great Sri Lankan restaurants on the north shore.

I’ve been following this restaurant since it was on Clove and Victory. Great food, great service, clean and my favorite time to go is during their lunch buffet as I get to try all different kinds of dishes I wouldnt have tried since I dont know what they are. Love everything about this place. Try it, you wont be disappointed :-)

I’m writing this review after literally receiving my food ½ hour ago, and throwing it out 10 minutes after that. I ordered here mistakenly through seamless. I had wanted to order from another restaurant but completely forgot the name of that restaurant. Anyways, I had previously had a terrible experience dining at the restaurant with mediocre food, and terrible service. Fast forward several years and nothing has changed. The food was delivered barely warm, leading me to believe that it was ill prepared(and by prepared I mean microwaved). There was no flavor and overall it was just a complete disappointment. Ugh.

Food was ok! We had chicken 65 which was good. I recommend it with drinks. The drums of heaven were not fully cooked. Chicken tikka appetizer could have been better if they had smaller pieces of meat. Chicken biryani was different. Overall I will not call it good authentic Indian food. Its more of an American Indian food. It you want authentic food then may be you should indicate that while ordering.

If its gonna be a really bad service then this is the place for it. Placed an order thro phone by mistake instead of another restaurant. Even though we called in time to cancel the order telling our genuine mistake, we were made to pay for it. When I questioned if there is any customer service, they threatened to call the cops. ?? Grrr. This restaurant really sucks.

Extremely hit and miss. I’ve eaten here and it’s been good and other times it was down right nasty. Possibly different kitchen staff? Nice atmosphere. Thorough menu. Typical Indian music. Service is again, hit and miss. It’s been good and it’s been bad. Ordered delivery once and it came with no issues and in a reasonable amount of time. The Gobi Honey Garlic appetizer is amazingly good. Sweet and fried. What’s not to like?! Ordered Saag twice. Once was fresh spinach and really good. Once was what appeared to be frozen and I left most of it behind. Avoid at all costs, the buffet. Tired leftovers from a catered affair they had and it was truly one of the most miserable meals I have ever tried to eat. Went with friends last time and we presented our Groupon coupon at the end and it was not an issue. I really hope the Clove gets it together and is able to be consistent.
