We’ve been to Kampei II several times. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. The manager/owner goes out of her way to make you comfortable. The atmosphere is pleasant and the parking is excellent in Newfield Green. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Had tried village gourmet on several different occasions and was never satisfied. The dishes were bland and the rice was dry. Had no idea Kampei had taken over until noticing the sign in the parking lot, decided to give it a try and were not disappointed at all! Have been back 3x since! Great service and great food. Ordered fried dumplings egg rolls and ginger salads to accompany orders of vegetable fried rice and vegetable Lo mein. We have tried a lot of Chinese in Stamford and this is our new favorite go-to spot!

Im usually skeptical of bad reviews on Unilocal,I think most of them are just nasty people who can’t be pleased, so when I give 1 star it isn’t given lightly. The only edible thing we ordered was the steamed dumplings. The wonton soup came with 2 sad little excuses for wontons swimming in a cabbage smelling broth. Boneless spare ribs tasted like they had been boiled in red food coloring to give them the right look with none of the flavor. The chicken lo mein with fried rice smelled like dog poop, seriously, we couldn’t even bring ourselves to try a bite! Lastly the sesame chicken and white rice tasted old and rotten. How do you screw up white rice??? Feel free to call them and find out! Their prices are high so I figured the quality would be there and boy was I wrong, the complete meal was thrown away. The only reason they even get 1 star is that the! women on the phone and the delivery guy were both polite. It’s a real shame!

Didn’t know they changed ownership & name until I called to place a pick up order. Was assured by the person on the phone that the«main dishes» which Village Gourmet had would be the same, they just added /changed some things on the menu. Again, I was told that the General Tsos chicken was the same. WRONG! Completely dissatisfied with everything! The egg drop soup was okay, but the General Tsos chicken was Disgusting! I loved Village gourmet’s General Tsos chicken because ALLTHEMEATWASWHITE, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of sauce that was never watery. When I bit into a couple of pieces from«kampei II», ALLTHEMEAT was dark, chewy and the sauce was too watery. I literally through the WHOLEMEALOUT! What a waste of $ 12!!! Can’t say anything else about the other food, but don’t count on your food being the same as «Village Gourmet’s, since it is COMPLETELYDIFFERENT quality, texture, & look wise.
