OCHA Thai & Japanese Cuisine

I would rate this place better but it’s just not memorable. This was your traditional good Thai food, however, as much as I really enjoyed it, it wasn’t particularly different. It essentially contained everything you would require of a good Thai place.
However, the spice level was not all that spicy, the prices were fair only, and I just feel like I’ve had many other alternatives in the past that just had a lot more flavor. So this place is good and I would recommend it, but I can’t say that it is great.
My experience was good!
P. S. Their fried vanilla ice cream dessert was soooo good!

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday, mamasan curry was delicious (we’re talking really delicious). Service was prompt, décor whatever, but for $ 12 holy cow a great deal for good Thai food.

Great Japanese restaurant with the best sushi around. Also try their tuna pizza, hard to find dish that is amazing. The restaurant also has a good atmosphere and is just an all around nice restaurant.

I have been eating Ocha since 2006. I love their shrimp pad see eww! I can eat that every signal day:) The service is great as well. Sue, the manager, is really friendly and caring about every customer!

Got delivery and so far so good!
Green tofu curry was exceptional and the pad me saow — spelling? Had actual real bamboo shoots. I was impressed!!! Oh, I also got the fresh spring rolls, amazing!
Ordered again next day for lunch, same delivery guy. Shrimp teryaki entrée came with veggies, lots of grilled onions, a ginger salad with fresh lettuce — always a bonus & white rice. All in all great.

Very good restaurant. Weird that they serve both Thai and sushi, but that’s what’s happening here which is good when you’re with a group and people always have different tastes!
The sushi rolls I had were fresh and really quite good. I also had a shrimp and avocado as well as an eel and avocado which were pretty good.
My girlfriend had Thai and liked her curry beef a lot.
Service was nice.
I’ll be back when I’m in Stamford. That’s not often, but I’ll remember this place.

I’m here for work and was feeling particularly lazy so I ordered delivery via Seamless. I went by ratings and apparently this was a raving 5 star (baffling). Delivery was super fast. Man was pretty rude but better than waiting an hour for food I suppose.
Food was absolutely.terrible. Spent 25 bucks for gyoza, soup and Pad Mee Sew. what a ripoff.
Ok, maybe not completely terrible. The gyoza was pretty decent though the sauce was very very sweet. Ordered Pad Mee Sew with Chicken and ended up eating the sparse Chinese broccoli and the noodles alone– the chicken had that smell that happens when it’s frozen, thawed and left out too long. That refrigerator smell that lingers after you chew and swallow… ew. The noodles were edible albeit too sweet and the broccoli was pretty nice.
I also ordered Tom Yum soup with shrimp because I love it and it’s a personal fave of mine. This was NOT Tom Yum soup. It was hot water with Jalepenos, one strip of soggy red pepper and two shrimp that were like cardboard in texture and that damn gross smell again!
I asked for hot sauce to be included twice. no hot sauce = annoyed hangry me.
Maybe I made a mistake here by avoiding the sushi but I figured sushi would be a bit of a gamble. I won’t be trying anything here again. ever.

Order here often when on work in Stamford. They have an incredible Seafood Yaki Udon Bento Box and Good Sushi.

My go to spot for delivery in Stamford. Sushi is all very fresh, great entrees and curry dishes. Everything is very fresh and hearty. Priced very well also. 2 people can stuff themselves for under $ 30. Lunch specials are also a great deal. 2 courses for about $ 7. A lot of Parking too if picking your order up.

Excellent value for a lunchtime Bento box (miso soup, spicy tuna roll, shumai, chicken teriyaki and white rice) and quick service to accommodate the one hour lunch break for lawyers at nearby Stamford Superior Court.

Pretty good sushi. I just moved to the area, and went simple for my 1^st order.
California Roll, Shrimp Avocado, & Eel Avocado. All 3 came to just under $ 15.
I enjoyed all 3. I can’t compare it to other Sushi places yet, as it is my 1^st order locally. But all 3 tasted fresh & delicious. I will def order from here again.

I’ve eaten here about 50 times and I will never stop!

(Not enough rice in the sushi roll ?? Who complains about that — they stuff them with the good stuff not rice. Go to sushi x if u want to get filled up on cheap white rice)

Ordered delivery on seamless from here, ordered the angel roll with brown rice and a side of spicy mayo! Delivery was super prompt and food is delicious! Very colorful

This place was good. I tried the sea urchin and eggplant basil in brown sauce.
The sea urchin was on point, nice clam-​like flavor. It was my first time having one and it exceeded my expectations. However, t he eggplant and basil in the brown sauce fell short of my expectations. The sauce was just mediocre, not as flavorful as I would expect from a Tai place. I regret not getting the curry. Since no one likes leaving a restaurant they lost a star from my rating.
Service was fast and friendly. The food was filling and I ended up getting a take home container for the remaining food. When the waitress brought it out she told me she didn’t bring a bag for me because I have enough bags.
I was torn by this, on one hand, I know there is so my plastic waste out there and every bag we save makes a difference. On the other hand, I only had one plastic bag with me and it had a bottle of walnut oil in it. My concern was that the take home container wouldn’t sit flat and some of the aforementioned brown sauce would spill out. Luckily, the container held and no sauce was spilled.
I was left wondering how one bag translates to plenty, but after giving it some though, I did have an abundance of plastic bags in my vehicle. Could she some how know this? My truck wasn’t even with me. I concluded she must be psychic. I never had a psychic waitress before and it was pretty awesome.
Environment and décor was pleasant.

I am still discovering the food around Stamford. Being from Boston, I got incredibly spoiled with excellent choices in Sushi.
Luckily a few months ago I discovered Ocha, the Japanese and Thai restaurant up Prospect st. While the actual restaurant itself doesn’t seem very impressive from its décor, the sushi delivers.
I give it a 4 in Stamford because it has consistently been better than any others I’ve tried thus far. I call it a Boston 3.5 and a Stamford 4 (I’m reserving 5).
Note: delivery is a fine option for their sushi as well. I’ve been to the restaurant as well as frequently have had it delivered and there’s no dip in quality. Although once they forgot the miso soup and that made me very sad.

We’ve dined in and I’ve also taken out from here. I had the flat noodles with shrimp (for both dining in and take out) and I would have to say it was much tastier dining in. Taking noodles out to go is tricky because after a bit of time, the noodles bloat (for a lack of better words) and the seasoning/​sauce drips to the bottom.
Their sushi is pretty good also. We came here on a Sunday around dinner time and we were seated promptly and the service was good.

Went there for lunch. Great food great service! We had the crispy tofu, great with the sauce they provide. I had the fried rice with mixed seafood… I forget the name of the dish but I enjoyed it. Nice local spot, would go again!

Ocha has a great selection of Thai and Japanese dishes. The delivery is FAST and the food arrives HOT! Dining in is nice as well – the ambiance is much nicer inside than one would expect just driving by, and the service is quick and kind.
There isn’t much I wouldn’t recommend about Ocha – the lunch specials are spot on (include soup or salad and a main plate for $ 7.50), and the entrees are a good size and definitely enough to share.
Overall, it’s not the absolute best Thai/​Japanese I’ve ever had, but it’s definitely become my go-​to in Stamford. The quality is consistent, and it’s always a very pleasant experience!

I’ve tried many sushi restaurants in Stamford that this place is by far the best. I trust this place considering I am eating raw fish. I come here at least 2 times a week. It seems like a family run business and they take care of their customers. They’ve even delivered to my place after hours. If you wait a minute or two it’s definitely worth it.
I got a hand roll spicy tuna and spicy salmon not chopped (it’s the best this way). What that means is instead of the tuna or salmon shredded, the roll contains large pieces of fish. I also love the appetizers shumai (steamed shrimp dumplings), spicy tuna bowl or the white tuna tataki. If you like traditional sushi or sashimi my favorite is the white tuna. I’ve tried most speciality rolls and sashimi on the menu and I have zero complaints. I bring friends and family here. I’ve also converted my boss.

I love Ocha! I come here often and I will upload more pics soon (food is so delicious I devour it right away). First time trying sushi and it was fresh and delicious. Staff were nice and the place is tidy.
Everything is delicious!
