I like this place and have been coming here since they opened. The layout isn’t too good, it’s a long, narrow restaurant and it gets crowded/cramped very easily… if you ever get seated in the very back room you’ll feel like you’re apart from the rest of the restaurant because, well basically you are. The owner Matt is a really nice guy and the service has always been spot-on. I love the Irish Dip as well as the Reuben Egg Rolls. They pour a great pint of Guiness and I always leave happy. Their filet sandwich is pretty amazing too, be sure to ask for a side of their Guiness au-jus to go with it. Try going during the off hours, it’s hard to get a seat in here during dinner and it’s definitely not a place for the claustrophobic. Also the door opens and closes so much it’s usually pretty hot in there so be prepared when you go here during the summer.

Matt Crowley has an A1 establishment! This small and quaint Irish pub has great food, excellent ambiance, smack downtown St. Pete, and the service is awesome! While there this evening a couple patrons were drunk and Matt ensured they did not attempt to drive home

Love this place, definitely a local favorite. I always get the Crowley Punch. Their reuben egg rolls are AMAZING! I think I want some right now … Great place for food and drink but I also go there for the coffee and to work on my laptop. Great location, good for people watching.

Every time I tell myself I’m going to try something different, and Every time I get the Alf Burger. Every time it’s winning. This place has some of the best burgers around. The burgers have good flavor in the patty alone. Service has always been good. One day i’ll venture out to order something else. Until then you can’t go wrong with a burger from this place.

This 3.5 star review became a 4 star review because the food is damn good and you get a lot for your money. Came here for a Saturday morning brunch with the boyfriend and another friend after debating for a while. We sat outside because it was a beautiful day, so I didn’t actually get a chance to look around at how the inside of the restaurant is laid out. But I must say, the outside black and red paint job really screams traditional Irish Pub. They’ve got a great location right on Central, which means I’m sure it gets crazy in the night’s and evenings on weekends, but it was great for brunch. Service was middling. Our server was very pleasant but she seemed a little flighty sometimes. The coffee flowed freely but everything else was a little bit slow for a bunch of breakfast items. My friend and I got biscuits and gravy and they initially forgot to give us the gravy. My friend had ordered an appetizer for himself, but when we split the bill they initially split that evenly for all of us. And they apparently charged my boyfriend incorrectly, resulting in three charges on his card, which he only found out later that day after looking at his statement. They assured us when we called that only the correct charge would actually process, but didn’t warn us while we were actually at the restaurant. The food was definitely good, though there were so quirks, and there was a TON of it. We started with the Rueben Egg Rolls which are decently sized and come with a side of Thousand Island Dressing. My friend and I ordered the corned beef hash special that came with a decent portion of hash, two eggs, two biscuits with sausage gravy, and a side choice of either potatoes or grits. I ordered cheese grits and got a huge portion, almost as large as my main plate, or creamy grits with a cheese crust. The food was incredibly good too, so I wanted to eat it all, but I held back. My boyfriend got the Guinness Burger and at the waitress’s suggestion got brown gravy with his fries, and got a huge portion of everything too. In the end we all left with full stomachs AND full leftover boxes. Because there was so much food, the prices were very reasonable. If I remember correctly I paid $ 17 for my entire meal and tip. But because everything seems to come in huge portions here there’s nothing especially cheap. If you’re just looking for a small, cheap, quick meal this may not be the place for you. But, if you’re looking for something to satisfy a monstrous hunger with some real Irish classics on the menu, this place is definitely for you.

My fiancé and I went here the other day to have a quick lunch during work. While the Reuben egg rolls were delicious, the service was absolutely terrible. I never understood why certain people work in the service industry when they have bad attitudes. Our waitress was rude from the moment we came in, she barely spoke to us and acted like we were an inconvenience. She didn’t ask us how our food was and her demeanor was cold. I don’t know if this chick was having a bad day or what, but she ruined coming here for me. I get that it’s a bar and you deal with drunk people but at least be a little bit nice. Great food, but I won’t be back.

After a couple of years we went back on a late Sat night, or more like early Sun morning(12:15am to be exact). We sat up front, to the immediate left of the door. There used to be a low long table(communal-like), but now the space contains 2 high tops. A waitress came by and asked if we wanted something to drink. After looking over the quite extensive beer menu and nothing stood out, I remembered they used to have St Bernardus and Delirium in bottles, so I asked the waitress about them. She said she’s fairly new so she’d go ask for me. A moment later she came back and told us that the bartender have never heard of either. Okay then. I digressed. We ended up getting a Crispin Cider and a Hefeweizen. After looking through the food menu we ordered the Shepherd’s Pie and Chicken Pot Pie. The Shepherd’s Pie has good flavors, but it’s a bit dry inside, while the Chicken Pot Pie has so much mashed potatoes on top that there’s not much pot pie inside. I was looking for the sauce, but there wasn’t much of it. There are huge chunks of chicken, however. We could have overlooked the average food, but we couldn’t overlook the sub-par atmosphere and service. Since it was almost closing time, we were the only table eating. There were, however, at least 5 people at the bar. I guess our server did have other things to do to prepare for closing so she disappeared most of the time. When she came out much later, she dropped off the check at our table without saying anything. We later asked for to go boxes and, once again, she dropped them off without saying a word. Sometime during the visit a guy who sounded like he works there but was ready to leave asked the female bartender for a beer. She said she’s not giving him one. He kept insisting pretty loudly that he wants a beer. After a while he got behind the bar and physically pushed up against the bartender to pour himself a beer. She fought against him, but then gave up and walked away. While waiting for the beer to pour, from the other side of the bar she threw a wet rag at him. He deflected the rag by pushing it away from him in mid air. Where did it end up? The rag flew towards me, almost hit me, then fell a foot behind me. This is what we get for going to a pub at almost closing time… a room full of drunk people. Yeah, we prob won’t be back. At least not for a long while.

A nice place. I’m a bit disappointed in the service. I’m not one to complain and won’t. But the potential to be a great place would be an easy step. The music, and outdoor seating option is perfect for the location. I’m guessing this place gets hopping at times. First clue was our waiter telling us to put a mustard bottle on the edge of our table to let him know we needed something. The Guinness served in plastic cups was also a solid clue… all in all, I’d try this place again. It’s worth the effort…

Fun place decent if not overwhelming number of taps(sadly a handful were blown out including Smithwicks). Food fantastic as always. Tried the Squeal Pie. Variation on Shepherds Pie with pork and a beer bbq sauce. Well all I can say is I’m sorry I had filled up on the fries and gravy(very tasty) because it’s pretty good. Could only finish off half. My health conscience pal went for the sunshine wrap-huge-tasty mandarin orange, blueberries, strawberries, chicken and vegetables in a green wrap. She was simply disappointed she didn’t order the salad it was based on. A very big hit. You can’t beat the food here the egg rolls the hearty burgers and sandwiches and meat pies, but the salads here feature some tasty lighter fare that will satisfy any he-man. Try the spin salad.

We ordered their food through the«Food Now» service, so we missed out on the beer and ambiance. With that said, and knowing this is pub food, I was still disappointed. I ordered the mac and cheese with corned beef, my husband had the Shepherd’s pie, and we also ordered the ruben egg rolls. Everything sounded amazing, in theory. The egg rolls were not even half full. The mac and cheese was boring. While in both cases the corned beef was great on its own, it felt very much like they just stuffed it in with very little thought. The Shepard pie wasn’t too bad, but again, it was bland and nothing special. As I said at the beginning, this is only pub food, but at $ 12 for some mac and cheese and $ 9 for two egg rolls, I did expect more.

I’ve eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Their specials are priced very affordable and have always been good. I tried their parmesan crusted chicken and it was absolutely delicious. So why only three stars? I would have given them five stars except I saw a waitress come out with a platter of food. She stop at the bar to talk to some guy who proceeded to rummage through the fries until he found one he wanted. He took it out and ate it and then the waitress took the dish outside to the customer. EEWWWWW! Watch your food as it comes out of the kitchen and you’ll be okay.

I didn’t order any beer and just came in for a quick lunch so I can only really comment on what I ordered. While it looked like they have some great sandwiches and burgers, I wanted to stick to something a little less heavy. I decided on the spin salad(I omitted the raw mushrooms and added grilled chicken). So it was just a bed of spinach, grape tomatoes, bacon crumbles and chicken. I think it would have been just fine but I should have read the description closer. It came with«warm ranch dressing». It was not warm, it was hot. But either way I did not like putting warm dressing on my cold salad, too weird. Also, it was not ranch dressing. It tastes like bacon grease and had the consistency of oil and was brown. I should have asked for a different dressing but I didn’t so that’s my fault. Mostly I just ate the chicken and tomatoes off the top, ate some spinach that wasn’t too greasy and called it good. Also, I don’t know if they allow smoking in the restaurant but it was overwhelming how much it stank in there. It hit us about half way through our meal and the two of us looked around but didn’t see anyone smoking. That made for an unpleasant finish.

Excellent food and excellent service! The beer battered fish and chips were delicious!!! Perfectly fried– not oily at all! The Reuben rolls are so yummy! This is definitely home-made food. Carrie, our server, was so friendly and attentive! Loved it! i

Been a few years since my last visit… something needs to be said about their fish sandwich. It’s incredible! Guinness beer-battered haddock on a toasted, garlic-buttery roll, with housemade tartar. Of the fish sandwiches in this world, it’s gotta be one of the best I’ve ever had. Most places tend to cheap out on the fish sandwich, but Crowley’s takes no shortcuts. Service and location still the best as well!

God where do I begin… Hmmm how about the Rueben Eggrolls, simply to die for. Other crowd pleasers are the Scotch Eggs and The St Pete Roll. Great burgers and sandwiches galore, the Turkey wrap is a winner and well as the ever Classic Rueben sandwich(best in all of St Petersburg imho). And as I mentioned burgers… Boy do they got’em a whole page of them on the menu… Enough about the food as you can tell I love it all. Now on with the service. I prefer sitting at the bar at places like these cause you really get the real vibe of the pub lifestyle. And plus beer usually are a lot quicker to get when you sit in front of the taps. The staff are always very friendly and attentive.

Stumbled upon Crowleys in the row of food spots on the street, and boy am I lucky we did. Started with the Spinach dip, which comes with fresh baked bread squares that are so tasty, we really didn’t need all the dip. The fish and chips(served with slaw and brown gravy) were fantastic, and particularly the thick cut steak fries. The potato and leek soup was good as well. It wasn’t too crowded(we went midday) and the service was good. Very into soccer and would be a great place to watch the World Cup or MLS.

I visited Crowley’s on Friday night for drinks after leaving the Rays game. We grabbed a table since the place was only about half full. No one ever came to see if we wanted to order anything, so after about 10 minutes we moved to the bar. It still took about five minutes to get a drink, so after we decided to move on to another bar once we finished our beers. When there are dozens of options, I believe that most patrons would rather seek out a place with speedy service.

I’m from Illinois and I knew I would be in the Tampa/St. Pete for two weekends. I needed some place to watch soccer while I was here. I researched the local bar scene and the only place that said they would accommodate me on an early Sunday morning was Crowley’s Irish Pub in St. Pete. I really didn’t know what to expect but DANG! It was awesome! Starting with the owners Matt and Nick, I was welcomed like family. The food was outstanding… especially the corned beef hash and the worlds best grits! A couple of pints and some friendly conversation and I was more than satisfied. 5 stars all around for everything!

Walking around downtown St Pete after visiting the holocaust museum. Lots of outdoor eateries but hubby didn’t dig the outdoor scene so we dined inside Crowleys. Bonus free beer or wine with check in. Had a glass of house wine and it wasn’t bad. Turkey burger was very yummy, service was spot on. Free wifi and live entertainment to round out a pleasurable experience.

I wish I could have tried out the beers that they had on tap, but it was lunchtime during the work week. People tend to frown when I come back to the office hammered, so I’ve been trying not to do it. I started out with the Scotch Eggs which I have never before tried or even heard of. They were absolutely delicious. They’re hard boiled eggs wrapped with sausage, hand breaded and deep fried until golden brown. I ate the first one without the sweet A-1 dipping sauce that came with it, and was impressed. I used the sauce with the next one, and it took it to a whole different level. You should definitely try these if you come here. For my main course I ordered the Guinness Beer Battered Fish and Chips. They use North Atlantic Cod lightly battered and fried to perfection. It was a very healthy serving as well, and I enjoyed every last bite of it. It was extremely empty during lunch, so our service was outstanding. I would absolutely come back, hopefully next time I can sample some of their beers.

Crowley’s RAWKS! La Chica and I were just strolling down Central, minding our own bizwax, when I heard the motherland’s music pumping out of Crowley’s. I stopped short of the door’s threshold and peeked in to see what was going on, and the band stopped playing and invited us in. There was too much pressure to resist entering at that point, so we hopped across the threshold, sat at the bar and started slamming beers to the sounds of The Bawdy Boys. They were very entertaining, and the staff at the bar were awesome and friendly as well. In fact, I even got to chatting to the manager about how I don’t typically like«Irish» bars. We then talked about the food, and once he told me they had Scotch Eggs on the menu, I was sold. Ordered it and ate it! Focking DELICIOUS! Possibly the best one I’ve had to date. Great bar, can’t wait to revisit!

So we thought we’d try a DTSP eatery on this night. Little did we know that we’d be smack in the middle of a First Friday event too! Our server, David was very informative, and guided us through the menu with recommendations. We started off with the Reuben Egg Rolls, which were very good. Nice and crispy like a good egg roll should be on the outside, and filled with lots of melted Swiss cheese. It was a little sparse on the corned beef and cabbage, but had amazing flavor when dipped into the thousand island dipping sauce. I chose Mikes Country Fried Chicken. Glad I did too. A good sized plump fried boneless chicken breast that was very moist and not dried out at all, which sat on top of home made mashed potatoes and all this was smothered with sausage gravy. Let me tell you that the sausage gravy had large pieces of sausage and was so creamy. Absolutely outstanding pairing. The honey glazed steamed carrots complemented this meal so well, adding a little sweetness to the dish. My Bride had the Guinness Battered Fish & Chips. Two large pieces of Atlantic Cod, lightly battered and fried just right to give it a not too hard crunch when biting into this delight. It was accompanied with cole slaw, tarter sauce, and pub fries with a side of brown gravy!!! Just the way we love our fries! Delicious doesn’t say enough for this meal. We took advantage of the Unilocal free draft beer when checking into what just maybe our new favorite pub in Pinellas. After our bellies were full, we strolled into the night enjoying the First Friday entertainment that St Petersburg provided everyone. It truly was a terrific First Friday!

This was my favorite bar during our mini Downtown St. Pete Pub Crawl today to grab Rowdies Pre-Game drinks. The staff is very friendly here and we had a blast joking around with Jordan, our bartender. We both started with the Crispin Cider to drink, which is pure goodness in a glass. I had the Scotch Egg, which was delicious. The egg was perfectly hard boiled, wrapped in sage sausage, breaded in Panko bread crumbs, and then deep fried. An A1 sauce was served on the side to accompany the egg. I could only eat ¾ of the egg because they were very filling. My date had the Crowley’s Crispers served with honey mustard and fries. The chicken was a wee bit overdone, but tasted ok. The vibe here is casual and laid-back. Being that it was a Rowdies game day, there were tons of fans in here, as well people watching the USA vs Nigeria soccer game and the Belmont Stakes… speaking of which… how anticlimactic was that race??? My absolute favorite thing in the bar was their Guinness«Countdown to St. Patrick’s Day» Clock on the wall! It should be a moral imperative that all Irish Pubs/Bars have one! My least favorite thing were the restrooms. There are two spacious bathrooms, but they are both unisex. I am not a huge fan of having to constantly put the toilet seat down. Aside from the restrooms, I would definitely come back here to try their traditional Irish fare.
