Kid friendly place, great beer selection, and very good hamburgers. Fish tacos are tasty as well.

Decent food and specials accompanied by fantastic service! I would definitely recommend the pierogies and the wild rice burger. Both are well made and taste delicious, which is rare, especially for a bar like establishment to have a well tasting vegetarian burger. I’d say if you need a decent lunch for a fair price, then Groveland Tap is not a bad choice at all.

Great beer selection. Good wine. Pool tables. Small and cute. But best of all… the cheese curdssss! And in one of the cutest neighborhoods in St. Paul, Mac-Groveland! Walking distance from Macalester too.

A great local pub. Plenty of TV coverage for game day, helpful staff, decent bar, and the appetizers at least are tasty and decently priced. Not the best place I’ve ever been but would recommend if you’re in the area. Will definitely stop by again when I’m nearby.

Wanting to both honor and consume Nachos on National Nachos Day yesterday, I came here to try theirs out. After ordering the nachos, they arrived«quite» a bit later, and did not seem to be freshly constructed. However, the modest pile of chips with its accoutrements was tasty and satisfying with the pulled chicken, melted cheese, chopped tomatoes and onions, pico de gallo and some guacamole(the jalapeños, as listed on their menu, were absent) as well as a drizzle of what they call«aioli». Two of us shared this and after finishing it, we decided to get another order because this was our dinner. After ordering our second round, it was brought out to us very quickly(as compared to our first round). After we’d tucked into the 2nd order, our server came by and asked whether our second serving was better than our first. Our reply: «Why yes, in fact it’s much better than our first order — it seems like our first order may have sat around a while before it was served to us.» Her response: «Well, that would not have happened because no order sits around before it’s served.» It’s interesting that our server asked the question, no?

Great place for a good selection of beer and comfort foods. Love the atmosphere and vibes. If I feel like having some great tasty beer and casual dining, this place is a winner :)

Fits the neighborhood perfectly! Food varies — so don’t expect too much in that department. But good happy hour — great tap beer and a classic Mac-Grove feel!

Like this place for a beer, burger and watching soccer. Nothing fancy but reliably good sports bar-type food.

I came here back in March for their Friday night fish fry. Off the bat, it was really busy, but my friends and I anticipated that there was be a wait. I think it was about 45 minutes to be seated. Not that big of a deal. The definite pros were the beer selection, and the atmosphere. Seemed like a really chill, fun, neighborhood-y bar. The fish fry was just OK. The price was great, all you can eat for $ 10.50. Came with fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw was yummy, and they would give you refills on that too. The fish was a little disappointing. The batter was too thick, and soggy/not crispy enough. And it was pretty salty. I’ll probably find someplace else to go for my fish fry fix, but I would definitely go back to groveland tap for drinks!

I’ve been coming here for more than 10 years. That’s pretty rare and a really good sign. This is a neighborhood bar. Lots of beer choices, but often really crowded. One of the reasons I don’t come more often is the wait for a seat. The food is solid bar food. The fried pickles are top notch, and even the cheese curds are good(which is actually rare). All fried food is very good. Not the cheapest place, but not unreasonable either. Overall, I recommend this place if you’re looking for a beer and some basic bar type food.

I come here for the Juicy Lucy. It only sounds like a risky sex act and is twice as orgasmic. They cook the cheese inside the burger. IN. SIDE. The gooey cheese is cradled by perfectly-cooked cow parts dripping with delicious grease — but not so drippy that your bun falls apart on you, which is the saddest thing that can happen to a burger. The Juicy Lucy is a half-pound. I ate every bite, and the fries, and even the coleslaw, which I usually consider to be an inferior form of salad primarily consumed by people like Gilbert Grape’s mother and that dude from Se7en(you know which one I mean). The food and beer selection are great. The only downside I could see is the locale in which both are served. Groveland Tap’s identity crisis — Do I want to be a sports bar? A grillpub? A dive? Who am I? What am I?! — reminds me of my junior high cafeteria in terms of discomfort and barely-repressed chaos. For example, if you’re going to cram a giant arcade hunting game in among dining tables, you can’t also serve craft beer flights at your copper-top bar. That level of schizophrenia is unacceptable unless the owner of the bar is a trust fund kid with more money than brains who only keeps the place running so he can look responsible in front of his mommy and daddy. Bottom line: Go for a the awesome food, stay to drink beer and laugh at the people awkwardly picking their way around the pool table on their way to the bathroom. 1÷18÷2016 Update: My brother says a Juicy Lucy is like eating a birthday cake made of meat.

Hard to get a table a lot of the time for a reason– it’s a charming and affordable place to get a snack or a drink. Good craft beer selection an friendly servers. Had a problem once with something I ordered and they were quick to rectify it, and with a smile. You’ll never regret hanging out here. Decent late night Happy Hour as well.

Nothing quite like a happy hour event with some of Unilocal best and… uh… brightest? We’ll start from the outside in. There is a tiny parking lot, but you’re likely going to be parking on a residential block and hoofing it. Also get here early(luckily John did and snagged a great table), the place isn’t that big and filled up VERY quick. As Dita pointed out, the passing from front to back through the bar was butts to nuts, and it was a very correct observation. If you do head to the back dining area, watch your step heading to the dining area from the bar. I can’t imagine what a few drinks would have done to an unsuspecting person. Food time, apps only for the get together: Cheese curds — solid as any blue plate restaurant serves. Great light batter, a different type of red sauce to dip(this was a smoky chipotle) and well done all around. Poutine — which it’s really not. It was a batch of fries, some cheese, and pot roast dinner over the fries. I think this might have been the only app that we all looked at like the drunk chick at a party you try and avoid. Frickles — served spear style and not chip style, were solid. And I hate pickles, but, the batter with ranch dipping sauce was pretty damn good. I still hate pickles though. Sweet tater tots — I’m a sucker for almost anything sweet tater, and these served with a strange aioli as a dipper weren’t too bad. Service was fantastic throughout. Our waitress did an amazing job keeping us in line, but also keeping our tabs straight and drinks filled.(notice what gets listed first for a servers duties when it comes to dealing with us? Check pictures as to why this is duty 1…) Was a fantastic time meeting up with Dita and Steve D, John O, Jessica A, Sam W and Jenny A. Can’t wait for the next go around!

Beers on beers on beers! If you’re looking to grab a beer around the area this really is the place to go. They have a huge list of tap beers. They are constantly refreshing their selection with proof hanging all over the walls. They have hundreds of beer taps that were once being served hanging on any open space on the walls. They offer flights of beer to be able to taste test if the long list gives you anxiety like me. I always am able to try a new beer I’ve never had before here. Great selection of local brews as well. Their menu is very mediocre. The only reason I give it a four star review is because of that great selection of beer. The menu is pretty small and is your typical bar food. I did find a creative burger to try. It was a beef patty covered in pulled pork and sautéed onions. I did gobble that burger up fast it was one of the better menu items I have ordered there. We sat at the bar and didn’t receive the best service from the bartender. He seemed like he really didn’t want to be there and acted very annoyed with us. Not really sure what we were doing to upset him, we asked very little of him. I have received better service in the past though. If you’re are looking to sit down and have a good beer and bar food this is a great option in the area!

We went on a night when they were offering the«Bangers and Mash», and we’re still glad that we did. This is the second-best sausage we’ve ever had in the Twin Cities(The Strip Club has THE best). The banger was a long coil of meat that was placed atop the amazing mash with an indescribably delicious and savory gravy that was the crowning achievement of a meal done right. The peas were not mushy and were some of the tastiest we’ve had. My son said that they were«the best ever». We’d not been to GT in quite some time and are happy to have found a reason to return. We’d not had a bad experience in the past, we’ve just been trying to go to new places. Though I’ll be sure to glance at their menu and specials online again soon, since this is how I learned of the Bangers and Mash.

As a Tommie, this neighborhood gem will always be a favorite. Their jucy lucys are simple but great and no trip is complete without an order of deep fried pickles. I have had a lot of fried pickles but these are by far the best. Also really love the Freehouse beers they have on tap.

I used to love Groveland Tap, but my last experience there was so poor that I don’t see myself going out of the way to go back. First of all, to the couple who were practically having sex while playing Big Buck Hunter(and who booted a kid off to play!), thanks for searing your soft core porn escapades into my head. Ugh. A girlfriend and I came here to meet our significant others after getting our hair cut and it was meant as a quick beer and appetizer stop before heading elsewhere. If you happen to come here not during Happy Hour, the beer is incredibly overpriced. Summit for $ 6? Yeesh. Since nothing seemed overly appealing on the appetizer portion of the menu, we ordered some fries for the table. The appetizer of fries was almost $ 8. For $ 8, it is safe to assume that it’s going to a decent portion, right? It’s just sliced potatoes. I mean, the fries basket at Sweeney’s is like $ 5 and it’s enough for 4 people. Oh no. We literally got a side salad sized plate of fries that were straight out of the bag and not even remotely crispy. There was also some sort of weird, sweet ketchup that came with them. This is what you’re charging me $ 8 for?! Along with a beer that was $ 2 – 3 overpriced? No thanks. There are too many other good places to go in that area.
