The Shanty at O’Gara’s

This place is so annoying. Loud and obnoxious. Live music earlier in the night on weekends which isn’t bad but the DJ’s suck. Bye.

This was at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Not their regular establishment down the street. This is just a spot they have for special events. unfortunately I was at a car show and it was a dry event (no booze) so that was lame. I ordered a burger and fries. They were OK. I have had better though. If you’re eating at the fair you can find better and cheaper from another vendor. The staff could not have been nicer though.

I stopped by here on a Saturday night to check out the dance party.
I arrived around 10pm and the DJ had just started and there was probably 20 people in the place. The drink specials were fantastic so i enjoyed those until the place started to fill in. Eventually enough people showed up to get the party going w/​the DJ playing pop/​hip hop music. I would say the DJ was one of the better dance DJ’s I’ve heard in a while and I thoroughly enjoyed listening and dancing to.
If you’re not a St Thomas student you’ll probably want to leave by midnight. Around 11:30pm the place fills wall to wall with the college kids and starts to get uncomfortable. Apparently there’s a shuttle bus that takes the students from the campus and back.
I would like to hear this DJ play at some other clubs that aren’t so college.
